Years ago, TV viewers were challenged with an apocalyptic future dominated by technology, a la William Gibson (http://www.antonraubenweiss.com/gibson/gibson.html), in the production of Max Headroom. Edison Carter was a reporter for Network 23, that latter having become the template for Bill Gates' construction of Microsoft as a dominant and overpowering force in its market. Which is hypothetically more insidious — Windows (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/) or blipverts (http://www.techtv.com/maxheadroom/story/0,24330,3382263,00.html)? I'm not sure I can make a cogent argument for either side.

If that's a completely inept summary of what was for cyberspace what Twin Peaks (http://www.twinpeaks.org/) was for twisted chronicles of high school innocence and its ultimate destruction — and it is an inept summary, because it's been a decade or more since I watched Max Headroom, and there simply is too much to tell in the time I have available — then point your cable or satellite box to TechTV (http://www.muc.muohio.edu/~Muraii/www.techtv.com) every Friday at 10:00 p.m. EST. They're kind enough to bring back all 14 episodes (http://www.techtv.com/maxheadroom/index.html/) (seems like there were more, though).

Peace.

Gosh, I haven't seen Max Headroom in many years. It was a fun show, yes.
