I know the new admin have given us bigger avatars and a better banner and such, but I was wondering if having signatures enabled was a good idea? Or is that too greedy?

No... I am in favor of there not being signatures. It takes up space and it is irrelevent on a forum like this.

Nope. Signatures are currently not available! Also we don't have intention to activate signatures.

Signatures increase the bandwidth throughput, they take up database space and they slow down thread loading. On top of that they can be exploited either to spam or potentially to undermine the forums software.

On top of that most people dislike them since they litter the place, they would overly repeat in popular threads and just think of signature like those adlinks that everyone wanted rid of.

Yeah, well I wasn't here when these advents took place, so I didn't know that.
It's no skin off my dick if you are all against it. I just thought maybe there would be some extra bandwidth for a small text signature. I also hate images in signatures, as you seem to be characterizing.

It's important to have signatures so that we can tell who is a B1FF. For example, if someone uses this image
http://www.everything-anime.com/animethemes/submitwalls/Tenchi%20Muyo!collage.jpg
as their signature, they can be banned without hesitation or consideration, and there will be no lamentation. What a boon for moderation!

Good. Stand strong on this.

I still remember the days of signatures long ago. Please don't bring them back..

I don't really give a damn about signatures.
However I see no reason why they don't allow them.

I think they should be allowed. Then I can laugh at all the naysayers when they've changed their tunes and I still don't have one.

:bugeye: Yeah well forget it. I didn't know you could suffer from post traumatic stress syndrome over signatures when I suggested this.

Why are people so obsessed with stopping sigs? Is it ethical to stop people from having the choice to use sigs if they want? Insteald of allowing people to choose for themself, people want to choose for them.
