Athelwulf 12-05-04, 02:32 AM I haven't really thought about it yet . . . But I know I should, kuz I only have two more weeks of school before Christmas Break.
vslayer 12-05-04, 06:33 AM hah, im already on my chrismas holidays, 7 1/2 weeks left, hah
but christmas, meh, christmas is overrated, its just a 3 day event that involves your family acting all happy, someone having a mental breakdown, and the same stupid home alone movies being on for weeks( goddam i hate christmas movies, i hate them almost as much as i hate christmas as a whole)
Combine 12-05-04, 06:41 AM 7 1/2 weeks holiday your lucky i get 2 weeks.
Communist Hamster 12-05-04, 06:52 AM I hate Christmas movies as well. Lets go to wherever they are stored (there must be a huge warehouse somewhere with a big sign on it saying 'Caution : Crap movies. Do not use until Christmas') and start a catastrophic fire. Then, either the queen will have to extend her speech or we'll have some good movies.
I don't buy winter solstice presents.
Combine 12-05-04, 07:50 AM nice idea commham !!!!
vslayer 12-05-04, 08:09 AM count me in, anything to get rid of those piece of shit crap shit shitty crap movies(i wish there was a harsher adjective)

I agree Vslayer....if I see Home Alone one more time I'll puke....and I hate that everyone tries to act all happy, it's DEFINITELY not the "most wonderful time of the year"!
Combine 12-05-04, 12:54 PM inside everyone thinks christmas films and films they show are annoying
sideshowbob 12-05-04, 01:06 PM inside everyone thinks christmas films and films they show are annoying
Not true.
I like most Christmas movies, especially Home Alone II: Lost in New York.
You people who hate Christmas must have very wretched lives.
geodesic 12-05-04, 01:25 PM I don't hate all Christmas films, and I certainly don't hate Christmas.
I do, however now hate vslayer, as I still have 4 exams in two weeks before I go home for Christmas.
Combine 12-05-04, 01:56 PM same with me i like some christmas films but seeing some over and over again makes me annoyed
I kicked the tv out of my habitat in 1998.
sargentlard 12-05-04, 02:36 PM Christmas is good...it is the mass hysteria of goodwill, incessant need to be cheery, the facade of gift giving to those you truly despise, the christmas carols, the irritating twitch to buy junk decorations, and the infernal clean up afterwards that annoys me.
The holiday itself has many redeeming values....what bothers me is that those values are lost to almost everyone today. The season itself is a beautiful one, no doubt.
Closet Philosopher 12-05-04, 03:09 PM I've already bought most of the Christmas Stuff so far. Here is what I can remeber:
- Nice MP3/CD player for my sister, SHrek 2 video game and West 49 stuff
- MP3 player for my mom
- gift certificates to Bootlegger, GAP, EB Games, Tim Hortons Coffee and cool socks for my friends (one or more of these depending how how good of friends they are and what the likes/dislikes are)
- Home Hardware gift certificate for my dad (he's impossible to buy for)
- some clothes and a couple fo video games for myself (from Santa)
- Magazine subscription renewals (a family tradition). I got MAclean's for my mum and dad (I like it too), Teen People for my sister, Oprah Mag for my mum, Canadian Geographic for my dad. I know that I'm going to get Ad Busters and Popular Science renewals.
What I'm hoping to get: Possibly a new Bass amp(100W!), magazines, clothes, nothing too special.
hotsexyangelprincess 12-06-04, 12:29 AM i dont really like Christmas movies, except maybe the first 2 showings of "A Christmas Story". Elsewhise all the movies are pretty stupid. I like Christmas, and typically during the day itself im really happy and generous, but the season itself kinda irritates me. Its mostly the fakeness of the marketing, like all the cheap decorations and ads. :m:
vslayer 12-06-04, 04:35 AM I don't hate all Christmas films, and I certainly don't hate Christmas.
I do, however now hate vslayer, as I still have 4 exams in two weeks before I go home for Christmas.
hahahahahhahahahahaahahhahahahaha!!! i finished all my exams for the year last week, and the night school finished we bought the pub out of beer to celebrate(not quite, but we got 10 crates)
Closet Philosopher 12-06-04, 09:02 AM I don't mind the Christmas feel. It's a shame that people can't be nice to each other all the time. I could go without christmas movies. If I see The Grinch or Charlie Brown Christmas one more time, I will go on a murderous rampage ;)
geodesic 12-06-04, 10:28 AM Feelings mellowing... :)
One exam down, and it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it might be.
Now I just need to spend all of my money on other people...
Dreamwalker 12-06-04, 12:49 PM Eww...Christmas... if I am going to buy anything, I surely won't start to think about it before the 23rd.
geodesic 12-06-04, 01:06 PM I'm thinking now, mainly as for the moment I'm within walking distance of a large number of shops, whereas on the 19th I'll be 15 minutes drive from the nearest shops, and they'll all be hideously packed.
Athelwulf 12-21-04, 02:44 AM I never got any money with which to buy things for friends for Christmas . . . I'm very poor. :( I can't even get presents for family. I wanna at least buy some Christmas cards for my siblings.
Christmas . . . Only four days away . . . Where'd the time go?
I'm getting and giving nothing for Christmas. But I am going to go buy new clothes come the 27th.
Communist Hamster 12-21-04, 05:01 AM PANIC!!! Only 4 days!
Why panic?
As all years I'm not buying any presents at all.
Only burned a few audio cd's for my mother.
Dreamwalker 12-21-04, 08:36 AM Well, I am going to buy some things the day after tomorrow, but those will only be sweets and alcoholic beverages, those can be counted as christmas presents from my side.
vslayer 12-21-04, 08:44 AM buy things the day after chirstmas then declrae them new years presents, after christmas everything is suddenly 99% off
I hate Christmas movies as well. Lets go to wherever they are stored (there must be a huge warehouse somewhere with a big sign on it saying 'Caution : Crap movies. Do not use until Christmas') and start a catastrophic fire. Then, either the queen will have to extend her speech or we'll have some good movies.
I agree with you there hamster. Queens speech? channel 4 have got marge simpson doing it. Wonder which i'll watch?.....
StepOnMe 12-23-04, 10:43 AM Girls are so easy to shop for. Just get jewlery or perfume or even some stupid teddy bear and we'll appreciate it. I have decided to make my bfs live very difficult. While he makes it OBVIOUS (what he wants for Christmas), I don't - and he's paying for that now, 2 days before Christmas.
I ended up getting him a DVD burner and a David Beckham book. What the hell else are you supposed to get guys?... There isn't any TYPICAL gift like there is for women.
The worst Christmas gift any boyfriend got me - a gift certificate to Future Shop. How impersonal! Well, I returned the gifts I got for him and gave the gift certificate back to him, as my gift. And then I broke up with him after he told me he got his brother's gf a nice basket from the Body Shop. How stupid can one guy get at Christmas?...
Enlighten me.
analbeads 12-23-04, 04:46 PM I don't think it's THAT difficult to find a gift for a guy. My husband has so many interests.... reading, politics, hiking, etc... And while he doesn't make it obvious what he wants, I usually have some sort of idea of what he might like. A lot of other men I know have hobbies and interests that are totally different from my husband, like hunting and fishing. And their girlfriend's/wives will buy them stuff relating to that. I guess it's a matter of just "knowing" the person.
And then, I know a lot of women that are SO picky, that a lot of their boyfriend's just have no clue what to get them. They try to put thought into it,but still fail. Sometimes there is just no pleasing the person no matter what you get them.
But it is the thoughtfulness of someone even GETTING you a gift that counts. Society has gotten so sterile and thoughtless, that people just go through the motions because "oh my god it's Christmas I must buy something."
