View Full Version : Desktop background Enigma'07 07-12-04, 06:13 PM What picture is your current backgroud? Mine. (http://astrogeology.usgs.gov/assets/wallpaper/sun.jpg) The Singularity 07-12-04, 06:25 PM I don't have one background I prefere ... I have something like over a hundred of them in several files on the hard drive. I use a program to automatically rotate the current background image with the other background images I have every 24 hours. Some of the images I have are really nice ... my avatar is one of the hundreds that are being rotated daily Nuttyfish 07-13-04, 03:55 AM I can't access my PC at the minute, but I have a Terragen pic I rendered a few weeks ago. Blindman 07-13-04, 08:35 AM My digi cam gives me my background. Mmm the memories. Dreamwalker 07-13-04, 08:49 AM Right now, I have this one: http://www.uploadimages.net/images/447469worms3d.JPG (of course I made it a bit smaller to fit here) And to keep me from using my computer too much (more or less a joke :D): http://www.uploadimages.net/images/597060GOD!.JPG water 07-13-04, 03:28 PM I have pretty cats from Webshots. Janus58 07-13-04, 04:08 PM Here's mine: http://www.geocities.com/janus58.geo/desktop.htm Closet Philosopher 07-13-04, 04:37 PM Janus, that's a cool one. I'm at work right now, so my beckground is plain royal blue. it seems that everyone at work is obsessed with royal blue at the moment. I can only remeber one of the backgrounds that I have on my two computers, here it is: http://www.digitalblasphemy.com/dbgallery/2/fluorescence61024.shtml I'll post the other later Thor 07-13-04, 05:18 PM Here be mine. This pic centred with surrounded by black. http://www.bbfree.com/esjotr/uploads/post-20-1089757777.jpg Dreamwalker 07-13-04, 05:36 PM Well, I have changed mine, now I have got this one: http://www.uploadimages.net/images/736403wallpaper1.JPG cosmictraveler 07-13-04, 07:14 PM I used this for awhile: http://www.sciforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3019&stc=1 Repo Man 07-13-04, 08:01 PM I'm pretty consistent with Playboy centerfolds as my background. There is really nothing I would rather look at. I like to get stuff from Digital Blasphemy for use on computers I'm building for others. curioucity 07-14-04, 09:32 AM That default cloud wallpaper for my Win98 PC spuriousmonkey 07-14-04, 10:17 AM My desktop: http://sciforums.*******************/desktop.jpg yes...half my desktop is filled with shortcuts and files. And those are only from the last 2 weeks or so because I regularly dump everything in a folder. vslayer 07-15-04, 09:00 AM thats just sad, i only have: my docs, my comp, network, bin, downlaods, media. six little icons i just thought id mention that i have 1400 mp3s at last count :D Alpha 07-15-04, 09:22 AM Currently: - http://img3.imgspot.com/u/04/196/15/lonelywalk1024.jpg The Singularity 07-15-04, 09:24 AM I just like to say that if any of you want some of the most stunning and detailed background images, in my opinion, for your collection, then check this website: http://www.visionafar.com/va.html Alpha 07-15-04, 09:34 AM Gah, flash only. I'd suggest deviantArt (http://browse.deviantart.com/wallpaper/?view=1&order=5&limit=24) (no flash required). Alpha 07-15-04, 09:59 AM Damnit, now you got me browsing deviantArt again, and I may never escape this time! :p The Singularity 07-15-04, 10:03 AM Ya I forgot to mention that it was a flash website. It didn't occur to me that some people doesn't have the connection speed to access those websites ... nor the software to do so. :) Alpha 07-15-04, 10:13 AM I have the speed, just not the plugin. BTW, my desktop has already changed a few times due to browsing deviantArt. :-/ And I just found a funny pic there: - http://www.deviantart.com/view/8680397/ The Singularity 07-15-04, 10:27 AM lmao ... that was not what I was expecting when I clicked on the link. It's unique ... I'll give you that. :) Alpha 07-15-04, 10:28 AM Did you see the new version? (I edited the link.) Heh, try to imagine the sound of the cow doing it... :bugeye: The Singularity 07-15-04, 10:30 AM I saw the new version ... I'd prefere the one without the text at the bottom but that's just me. Either way ... they're both funny and something that I'd rather not wake up to every morning after turning on the computer. :p Nah ... I couldn't imagine the sound that cow would make ... though it looks like he's/she's yawning so I wouldn't think it would make much of a sound. I'd be more worried about the smell of it's breath. :bugeye: Alpha 07-15-04, 10:40 AM I mean the sound of the cow going "Whaaazzaaaaa!!!" I'd like to see the reaction of people who saw that as my BG though. :D The Singularity 07-15-04, 10:45 AM Oh ... in that case ... then I can imagine the sound it would make doing that. It can't be pretty though ... nor good for the ears. spuriousmonkey 07-15-04, 11:08 AM I have the speed, just not the plugin. BTW, my desktop has already changed a few times due to browsing deviantArt. :-/ And I just found a funny pic there: - http://www.deviantart.com/view/8680397/ I actually have it as desktop now. thanks. edit - I actually changed it to someone else already. Kunax 07-15-04, 12:52 PM this is the only BG i ever used :My BG (http://www.aub.dk/~maddog/monkey.jpg). its funny edit: oh yea the logo in the corner is something i ddrew on just about everyting for a time, still do but not as often, it overwrites the original logo invert_nexus 07-15-04, 05:11 PM Kunax, It is somewhat amusing, unless you consider that the poor orangutan is in fear. It looks like it's about to be gang-raped. Or beaten for the 10th time today. Poor little fella. :( jadedflower 07-15-04, 06:06 PM http://www.bo.astro.it/~fabrizio/comics/frust.gif anu 07-15-04, 08:19 PM gwen (http://server6.uploadit.org/files/crappypics-gwenwall.jpg) sargentlard 07-15-04, 08:34 PM anu Grainy. anu 07-15-04, 09:43 PM naturally dvd > xvid avi (flawed rip) > vidcap bmp > jpg that segment was filmed with filters anyway so it is kinda intentionally hazy Kunax 07-16-04, 03:01 AM invert(ed) nexus :), you destroyed how i viewed that picture, but i douth you are correct :) funny one jadedflower invert_nexus 07-16-04, 06:38 AM Sorry Kunax. Didn't mean to destroy your pleasure. I doubt I'm correct too. Maybe he's just passing gas or something? :D I would hope that he is not abused. Heh, yeah, Jaded's was good. Doesn't look like it's the proper size for a desktop though. But funny stuff. :D Edit: Now that I think about it, they probably just have him captivated by a bright light or a toy or something. jadedflower 07-16-04, 07:28 AM I like my desktop :D It's a Gary Larson Cartoon... I have to look for a link to it. The therman image is on the left, the atom in the upper right corner, DNA under the atom, the sun inbetween DNA and Thermal image, skelleton to the left of the atom and ubove the sun, the brain( I'm looking for a link) between thermal and skelleton, above the sun. Avatar 08-08-04, 02:59 PM i just thought id mention that i have 1400 mp3s at last count :D pfft, last I counted I had more than 16 000 on my hard drive alone :p Avatar 08-08-04, 03:02 PM well, mine is quite unimaginative one :( it came along with my OS/Desktop environment, and it promotes my desktop environment I'm ashamed :p , but I very like it http://piparmetra.net/outer_realms/images/nix_screen.jpg water 08-08-04, 05:24 PM Avatar, You have butterflies as icons?! RosaMagika, you'll make me to kill my butterflies. You had to say "cute". damnit. //smiles p.p.s. but I'm not going to change my desktop, because I'll still need something non-stressful to rest my eyes at. Yes, I said cute. Apeitheo 08-22-04, 04:58 PM I always adjust my system colour theme to fit my background wallpaper colour Do you folks do that too? I usually don't unless it's just different shades of grey or something, since I don't think dark colors look good with the icons, especially in programs such as Gaim, that have tons of colors. goofyfish 08-22-04, 05:14 PM http://users.adelphia.net/~goofyfish/images/desktop.jpg Dreamwalker 08-22-04, 05:40 PM http://img1.uploadimages.net/992699Sunset_Outside_the_Front_Porch.jpg Found it somewhere on www.deviantart.com Athelwulf 08-22-04, 07:36 PM http://www.sciforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3150&stc=1 It's Klamath Union High School. I like it a lot! I took the pic myself, too. James R 08-22-04, 09:36 PM Here's my current one: 12 Apostles (http://www.sciforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3156&stc=1) This is a low-res version of a photo I took earlier this year at the 12 Apostles, which are a set of rocks which stick out of the ocean along the coast of Victoria , Australia. This part of the coast is known as the "shipwreck coast", because of the large number of wrecks of sailing ships which occurred there. |
