View Full Version : Do you Donate $$$ to any Organizations?
shorty_37 08-16-08, 09:57 PM Do any of you give to a Charity or Organization on a regular or monthly basis?
For instance things like....
Humane Society ( donating to the animal shelters)
Zoos/ Wildlife Sanctuaries ( adopting an animal for a monthly donation)
World Vision ( adopting a child abroad giving a monthly donation and receiving pictures and letters and stuff)
Health Related ( to fund with research like Aids, Breast Cancer, MS, Heart and Stroke)
Children's Charities ( like Variety that sends disabled or mentally challenged kids to camps)
Religious / Church
Or any local charities in your area
skaught 08-16-08, 10:12 PM I never donate. I have no knowledge of knowing where my money is actually going. Sometimes I will bring food donations to food shelves or supplies to the humane society, but that is all. I won't donate cash.
shorty_37 08-16-08, 10:16 PM I am like you. I am pretty weary about where the money is actually going or how much of it is actually going to the charity. I am especially weary of anyone who knocks on my door with a little badge on their shirt. I never give money to them. I give the kids food to bring into school when they have the food drives. I will donate a few $$ here and there when they have the Terry Fox run, or Jump Rope for Heart and Stroke etc. that is about it.
skaught 08-16-08, 10:17 PM Will you donate some money to me?
shorty_37 08-16-08, 10:18 PM What's the cause?
SheWolf 08-16-08, 10:18 PM I've donated a couple of times to door-knocker charity things, but that's about it. Even this way, later they won't leave you alone. Until I'm certain what's happening with my money and how much impact it's actually making, charity starts at home.

Umm... I need money to put damage deposit on my new apartment.
shorty_37 08-16-08, 10:20 PM I am waiting for Enmos to reply. I will be really surprised if he doesn't donate to some
Animal/ Wildlife Conservation type thing.
Stryder 08-16-08, 10:21 PM I don't donate money to charities, if I'm feeling charitable then I'll actually go out of my way and do something like volunteer my labour. It just makes more sense to actually physically do something than just expect the number of bogus charity organisations to do any more than steal peoples money.

I don't think he is on anymore for tonight.

Not on the walls, just on small animals and prostitutes. and occasionally inanimate objects.
shorty_37 08-16-08, 10:23 PM Do they have that Organization Habitat for Humanity all over the world?
Where you can donate your time instead of money to help build houses and stuff.

Not entirely sure, I know the US still has the Peace Corp, The UK you have things like The Samaritans, RSPA, as well as some localised events driven to do particular tasks or aid particular people.
It just makes sense to do something like that rather than spend money, if only for an hour a week (although it's likely more)
Norsefire 08-16-08, 10:37 PM No, donation doesn't work

Ok I looked up NRA and came up with various things.
Let me guess it's not the National Rifle Association?
lucifers angel 08-19-08, 06:50 AM i donate to the "red cross" and "st John ambulance" both are worthy charitites, and red cross cross over to war zones like they did and still do in Iraq and afghanistan
nietzschefan 08-20-08, 12:53 AM I accidentally voted - never donate...but I forgot about Terry Fox Run. Probably one of the best dollar donated = dollar spent correctly, charities in the world.

I'm a member. I come from a long line of NRA members. I grew up shooting all sorts of fire arms I know relatively nothing about. I regret never paying attention to what my dad was trying to teach me (I also didn't listen when he worked on my cars, to my great regret as well). No matter, I know more than enough, and am a good enough shot to take the nuts off any guy trying to get into my home.
I have Savage 110 that my dad gave me. I keep it under my bed. Not loaded, but the ammo's near by.

Norsefire 08-20-08, 01:13 AM I never do. It doesn't work. If we want to get something done, if we want to truly solve the problems, we need government support and popular support by the people. Not just "now and then" charities.
one_raven 08-20-08, 01:21 AM Does the IRS count?
CutsieMarie89 08-20-08, 02:50 AM All of the time. Too pretty much anyone that asks me (if I agree with what they are trying to do) and I always volunteer my time even when I don't have time, which is a bad habit I need to stop that. Its draining. But I don't having a problem helping others out, all they gotta do is ask and I'll probably be there, cuz I don't know how to say NO.
No. But I help with my own labour cleaning up our forests.
