Last hundred years the the right-left pendullum swong right and left in Western Europe with amazing regularity (switching socialist and conservative governments). Now the movement between the sorts of goverments seems to be only a virtual one (or is it Blair's Third Way?). What can be the reason for this?

Peoples might got dissappointed because idealistically based changes in society did lead only to the replacement of people/groups who had the power but but didn't change the position of the general population for the better (eg. Eastern Europe). So, it seems, the credo now is: the opression between different groups in society is an inevitable phenomenon, let's accept it (sort of freedom for groups to oppress other groups under the law)....that's why I think still less and less people bother to cast their vote at elections.

The pendullum can be possibly pushed to move again by some unspeakable event (atomic war, atomic terror attack, development of a very rich (agressive)opressive group, devastating economic crash).

It seems then that the stoped pendullum symbolises a new era in human history: the dawn of conquerring the universe?
