Ahh.. it looks like it uses slashcode. I read slashdot all the time, though I must admit I post there very little. I've always like their moderation style, though.

I've always thought that a vBulletin board that had a karma-type rating based on the ratio of "buddy" to "ignore" lists a member was on would be useful.

Call me crazy, but when someone gives me a link to a forum I expect to see a forum after I click on it. I do not expect a quest to search for the holy forum of forums.

But i am a nutter so maybe it is just me.

Sciforums over the years has had it's share of Mischief makers, not just trolls but people that generate spam posts and flames for a similar purpose that hackers occasionally have for taking down sites... namely "Defacement".

It matters not if the forum is moderated or not, if a site in question is targetted and by people that will stop at nothing to deface or devalue it, then it will be defaced.

U dont see to get it do U, That monkey is better than U.

I am here for the same reasons Neo was in Matrix after he saw the real world. I am here to save the world.

That Sciscoops.com makes moderation redundant, every man is an expert in his profession. But if U make a man a moderator he ends up poking his nose in every other topic that is is not good in. And thats dictatorship, we need democrasy.

Btw, Blogs are only of use if someone is working on a project.

For instance a Games Developer blog is useful for the developer to get an idea of where he's headed, what he's done and a kind of archive later on he can look back on and be proud about.

Theres tweaker blogs where people put together their own personal computer setup and come to deal with all manner of technical bugs in both hardware and software. Sometimes they contain the solutions to dilemmas that we all bump into time from time.

Then there is blogs that just totally waste bandwidth and resources, that contain no real useful information or helpful tutorage.

On the subject of being a doom and gloomist in regards to Defacement. I for a couple of years hung with a group that were known to have done such things. In fact they are probably still operating now, and there was a couple of website that kept a tab on how many websites they defaced.

Defacements worked both with exploits of forum software and just arranged attacks involving "sock puppet theatre".

Ya , I can understand, throughout ages thoes with radical idea were always cornered by rest of 95% humans, but we dont give up until we have changed the world.

Form our point its stupid tobe stupid when U already understand its stupid to be so.
We are ready to sacrifice evreything for what we think is right but others cant prove that wrong inthe name of majority.

I hope the best for SciForums, for luck is the only thing thats gona help it now http://www.sciscoop.com/story/2005/12/21/62251/519

One could write a course paper, maybe even a degree paper in psychology on how Holywood and the global film industry in general with or without intention is creating new regional and global mythologies in which parts of the newest generations become followers of.

Of course as Matrix is a christian/american film (particulary pt. 2&3) most affected by it would be those from the USA at the age group young enough when the films were released.

it is not the moderation system that makes a forum great, it is the members. I don't think there is a forum in the world with better members than sciforums. sure there are a lot of jackasses that hang out in the politics, free thoughts, and religion sections, but you would be hard pressed to find a physics section better.
