I found people's scale of drinking nights very different form each other.

Some people think, for a hard working person it's OK to drink after work, every evening. (My dad, lol)
For some, it should be once a week.
Some think, it's OK to drink if you are not working tomorrow.

How often do you drink?

Cheers!

I think it is OK to drink whenever you want to - even AT work - IF you can handle it and it does not compromise your life and lifestyle.
Some weeks I have a drink every day - sometimes I don't have a drink at all for months.
It all depends on my mood and what is available.

Oh no.
Everyone should drink every day.
Or you get very thirsty and possibly die!

That was my pedantic bit :p

As for alcohol...
Every couple of months or so I'll go out for a pint or three.

Really?
You strike me as the pub type.

I am.
Financial circumstances currently restrict my leisure activities to great extent.

Having said that I go for the atmosphere/ company. I can have a perfectly good night out drinking nothing but lemonade.
I enjoy a pint but I can take it or leave it.

Depends on my mood. I used to drink a lot more when I was younger, mainly because of the kind of places I frequented. The only advantage of that was I discovered I could manage quite a lot of alcohol and still be coherent. I've never really lost control drinking but I'm a control freak so that probably explains it.

I drink sometimes when I eat out. Indian food is not really something that marrys well with wine, and I don't like beer much. I haven't had a drink for the last three months except when I visited a winery last month. I have three wine bottles I've received in the last three months and they are unopened. :p

I like bold red wines best.

i assume we are talking alcohol here.
i got my apartment 2 years ago and to celebrate i purchased a fifth of 80 proof whiskey.
i mixed 16 oz. of it with 4 liters of coke.
i drank 1 liter and put the rest in the fridge.
it sat there for about a year and i finally gave it and the unmixed whiskey to a friend.

i don't drink much.

I practically lived on beer a year ago. I can handle it, but people can't! LOL

I agree with you, but then there are certainly some occupations where alcoholic drinks should be miles away from the practitioners.

Will some say the people that drink everyday all day any where all the time actually have a problem. With that said I drink when the feeling hits me I can go sometime several years between drinks in the past. But when the mood hots me I need to have several hundreds of dollars to be able to quench my thirst.

An open bottle of red is an empty bottle of red in my house. It WILL NOT last more than a night - ever.

yeah alcohol has a limited lifespan in my house too raven. i enjoy drinking in my own company a lot, which is probably bad. not more than a couple of cans though, and i'll have a few weeks of that then a few weeks off. when going drinking, i try to avoid giving myself a hangover.

Looks familiar to me. Psychologists / therapists think it's bad and should be taken under control before being a part of somebody's life. It can be heavily depressing.

I think she has Enmos's Syndrome. People with E.S., when faced with inability to use body-language and facial expression, tend to overcompensate by using smilies, haha's, lol's, etc.

Nor it should. Once properly aerated, you have to drink it right away.

i don't think it'll become a problem, i hate hangovers and i sleep worse having drunk the night before, one of the two always put me off drinking when drinking consecutive days.

I recommend you drink at least three glasses of water after a night of heavy drinking and before sleeping, hydration has a tremendous impact on reducing the incidence of hangovers.

yeah i never sleep after drinking without sculling some water, it has a massive effect.

Good then. It was a problem for me.
When I was in mid twenties, I could drink as much as I want and go to work next day without feeling any massive disturbance. Now, 34, I know there isn't anything like 'drinking as much as I want'.

I drink almost a liter of water after drinking too much, before going to bed.

Our cultural drink, rakı is drunk with water in it and also beside it. You don't feel much dehydration, if you don't go crazy on it. But it would be so distasteful to drink wine or beer with a glass of water. Yikes.

I have a bottle of white wine in the fridge that has been there for about a week and two thirds of it is gone. Other than the occasional evening-sipping, I would say that I get drunk, like really drunk 1-2 times a year.

well hangovers are just your bodys way of telling you that you are dehydrated, that is why you are told to drink water when you are hung over...

haha agreed.

I don't go out drinking as much anymore, maybe once or twice a month, but wine in my house is as good as gone the minute someone leaves it unattended, lol. I tend to sip it over a period of time, like if I'm watching movies or writing, and before you know it...

(I blame the wine faeries) ;)

I'm drinking too much lately. I started playing music in bars to make some extra cash since the Detroit auto-crash has all but destroyed by business.
Beer's usually free and people love to buy you drinks...and it's really hard for me to deal with drunk people with out having a few of my own.

Ha, I got given a couple of those 'wine stoppers' to seal an opened bottle. I quipped 'What are these for? Who leaves wine?'

Weekends I drink, sometimes wine with dinner midweek, sometimes no alcohol midweek, it varies, depending on mood, location, if I go out, stay in, the weather, a lot of factors, really.

When I'm training for a race (running, I'm no good, but I run a bit) I only drink on training days after I've completed a run. I run every alternate day then, so if running Saturday, wouldn't drink Friday, the week after, I'd not drink Saturday.

I find alcohol easy to not drink, and easy to drink.

My drinking habits depend on the environment. While I was in NY I hardly drank at all, now that I am back in south east asia drinking is almost a daily routine, its how expats socialize here.
