There was this book I read a few years back, but I can't remember the name of it. I remember what it's about, but I have no idea what it's called. It was kinda of a girly book, but it was still a good book for me to read. When I read it, it was the only new book I haven't read that sounded good when I over heard two girls talking about it. Well, here's what it's about for htose who might have read it and know what the title is:

It's about this one girl who was kidnapped and imprisoned in a pitch black celer like area. The only thing she had with her was her type writer, and the whole book is like made up of what she wrote on her type writer and slipped through the door. It's a very emotional book, and it isn't very thick.

I know that ain't much information, but it's all I can remember. I don't remember how it all ends though, I think she dies after she runs out of food or something. I would realy like it if someone can identify this book for me.

EDIT: I didn't say this before because all my friends say I talk about my GF too much. One reason I want to know the book title is that my GF reads a whole lot just like me, and she also wants to read the book. I'd do anything to give her what she wants, that's why I started this thread.

Basic plot sounds like John Fowles's The Collector

How did she operate a typewriter without any light?

Was it set in the Seventeenth century? Obviously not, since she had a typewriter, but it sounds a lot like that Three Musketeers/Scaramouche/Count of Monte Cristo type thing. There's always some nobleperson being locked away with nothing to do but write.

The reason she could type in the dark is because she used it enough to know where all the keys where. The book was set in present time. I'll check out that one book you said.

It's a very difficult thing to learn when you're older, take it from me.

I treat everyone nicely if they treat me nicely. Right know I'm having trouble with my phone, so I can't call my GF and I e-mailed her mother to have her e-mail me and I got Monica's reply today so I'm in a great mood. I can't wait until school starts tomorrow so I can see if "The Collector" is the name of the book. I'm not sure though. BTW, there's this one book I once read that was a very great book. I think it was called Silkwood, has anyone ever heared of a book called Silkwood? It's a mogic/fanticy type book.

Sorry. It isn't The Collector. No typewriter. Just a girl abducted by a very strange bloke.

The Girl in the Box by Ouida Sebestyen

That is the book you are looking for.

I think that is the book. I'll check the school library seeing how I'm in it right now. I hope they have it, if not i'll try the public library.

The High School didn't have it, but the middle school does. They're going to send it here, and I'll be getting the book either today or tomorrow. I hope it's the right book.

I've read it, and it's the book you are talking about.

Given that it's oriented towards "young adult -- 12 and up" it begs the question:

Just how old is your girlfriend, pedo?

I'm 15, my GF is 13. We've known each other for almost a year and have been calling each other more than friends for almost 9 months now. I know she'll like the book, because when we talk on the phone 90% on the conversation is about books. We both read tons and tons of books. I mainly read science fiction, and she mainly reads fanticy.

We've been married almost 28 years. I have a friend who met his wife in a poetry chat room.

do you both read terry pratchett? i kinda think he is a combination of the two, sci fi and fantasy. i did my rpr on him in higher english and enjoyed analysing and comparing his parody of macbeth in wyrd sisters to the real version.

We just read books, we never care who wrote the book or not. Good news, that was the book, and I'm reading it on my spare time and I can now give the title to Monica. It looks like this thread is turning into a discussion about my lovely GF ^.^
