View Full Version : Ken Jennings
sargentlard 07-13-04, 09:30 PM Anybody watching Jeapordy lately? This man has been on for 30 days straight now and has or almost the $1 million mark.
The guy isn't human. He is so quick and throw whatever at him and he answers.
He hit the million mark tonight. I've become a fan and I hope he goes for months without being beaten. Go Kenny!
invert_nexus 07-13-04, 09:59 PM Is that guy still going? Haven't watched Jeopardy in a few weeks. Shee-iit. That's some crazy shit. He's setting the bar, you know. This is the first year that they've allowed people to keep playing like this. I think the limit before was 5 days or something.
If he is BigBlueHead, then maybe if we're nice he'll loan us some cash when he gets back. :p Shit, I never got to know him that well. I doubt if he'd loan me anything. :(
I wonder how much is the take home on 1 million dollars game show money. I've heard that the taxes exceed 50 percent for things like that.
invert_nexus 07-13-04, 10:52 PM Oh, and I guess it's common knowledge that a television game show is taped 5 months in advance? Hell, I guess they must teach that in second grade nowadays, ain't it? Right after the class where they teach that professional wrestling is rigged. :p
That does put a damper on things. Kind of makes it seem blase that it's all over and done with already. The guy's already off living off his winnings. Weird that their should be such a long time difference between taping and airing for a game show. I always thought they were practically in synch.
Edit: This was in reply to a poster that made it clear that the Jeopardy epidsodes now airing were taped in February. The post is now gone and I'm only adding this for clarity.
cosmictraveler 07-14-04, 06:37 AM Think also that he will have to pay the IRS 50 percent of what he wins.
thefountainhed 07-14-04, 10:14 AM Cosmic, I pay 35% and that's too much.

Nah, right before you start wondering how in the world a stock can carry a new born baby.

I think it's all bullshit anyway. I detect a Quiz Show kinda fraud going on. Jeopardy gets a fucking ratings boost, a brilliant guy becomes a genius for month, and a technician who rigged and the producers who provided are crossing their fingers.
gendanken 07-14-04, 01:02 PM Thank you so much for that bit of prole trivia- the show, ladies and gentlemen, is taped. Now may we all rest peacefully at night and go back to our laboratories knowing this enigma's been solved.
That said, whoever you might be
..whispered with a suspicious squint in those beady little eyes, its the paranoia distilled from his ovaries.
certified psycho 07-14-04, 03:10 PM I've got a theory.
Look around.
When's the last time you've seen Bigbluehead? Personally, I find he is one of the most prolific members here, learned in everything from 80's trivia to cold fusion.
He disappeasrs around the time that MR. Jennings debuts on that show.
He's got a wife and child just like Blue, and we haven't seen the fucker since Jennings appeared on television.
He is also a computer programmer ................like Blue.
And he looks as if though he'd pick such a name for himself, were he in a forum: Bigbluehead.
I'm not trying to be funny- I was thinking of starting a thread on this. I truly think Jennings is Bigbluehead.
You have a point there. It does seem a little odd
On a different note, if Ken continues this streak, he will reach $2 million in a another 30 days. If not then I would love to see the person who will beat the unstopable.
i like it messed up and stuff ;)
eddymrsci 07-28-04, 02:36 AM okay I have been missing a lot, is that crazy guy still on?
thanks
The Singularity 07-28-04, 11:20 AM He's still on. He completed his 38th consecutive victory by winning 75 000$ last Friday. His total now stands at 1,321,660$. However, last Friday marked the end of the 20th season of Jeopardy so the next 6 weeks will be repeats of old episodes.
Although, he will be back when the 21st season starts on Sept. 6 as he will go for his 39th consecutive victory. There's no stopping him. :bugeye:
DJ Erock 07-28-04, 12:10 PM He does seem to know a lot, but he also just plays the game well. He's got the buzzer down so well, that he rings in before the other folks get a chance. I wouldn't call him a genius above a lot of other people on the show, but he knows how to win. If you notice, a lot of times he'll ring in and be unsure of the answer. Its not necessarily that he knows everything, he just shuts out the other contestants so they don't have a chance
eddymrsci 07-30-04, 07:18 PM I wish some crazier guy beats him on the first day of the next season :bugeye:
eddymrsci 08-15-04, 09:52 PM okay a thought just popped up in my head, since this jennings guy is a computer science graduate, right? would it be possible that he somehow hacked into the jeopardy! main database system and stole all the answers? haha just a thought...
