View Full Version : Marijuana
Hello Everybody, now if anyone here has ever puffed the magic dragon you know that after doing so you're not inclined to do harm to society or another person in fact the worst thing you may do is eat to much so why is this PLANT which grows naturally and is not a product of a lab like amphetimenes illegal? Why is it that we have 200,000 inmates serving prison or jail sentences relating to marijuana? Why should we be paying taxes to keep someone who burnt a plant in jail? Did you know that the same month of the same year a paper company with close ties to the U.S. government came up with a new process for making paper out of wood pulp, thus the U.S. Gov. who loves big money made the plant illegal. Not to mention that wide spread marijuana use would hurt our tobacco businesses and spur growth in south and central america. And now for the last 50 years we've been taught to believe that marijuana is a evil drug, and did you know that with bush's new anti drug crack down marijuana is moore expensive then Crack!
Please tell me what you think about what in my opinion is an unjust crackdown and a waste of money.
I totally and completley agree.
The "War on Drugs", especially marijuana, is the most idiotic thing that this country has ever done.
Any law that proibits the possesion of a simple organic material / or harmless (meaning it doesnt explode) chemical is unconstitutional unless an amendment has been made that outlaws it.
Just like the Prohibition law that outlawed alchohol in the 30s, an amendment is needed now to legaly throw people in jail for possession of something.
Other than the constitution-violating stuff, there is almost NO support for the drug laws; nobody proposed the original laws except politicaisn who were already in office.
The people of the United states had NO say in the creation of drug laws, they just kinda appeared out of nowhere to crush Vietnam protests in the 60s.
I am high (marijuana) right now. The drug laws didn't stop me or the 6,000,000 other people that got high today.
The cost of feeding and clothing a population more than double of some states, and more than the population of some states combined, is TREAMENDOUS. Nearly the size of NASA. We could build 13 international space stations with this money that is being thrown into a gigantic black hole.
Who would you rather have selling cocaine? Bayer, or the local Dealer?
Wo would you rather regulate heroin? The FDA, or Mexican Drug Cartels?
people have choices, and just like cigarrettes or alcohal my dear friend mary jane should be kegal to, it shows us that it isnt very harmful if they prescribe it to sick patients, so were do they think it is bad? i am not a expert on the subject, i just know that when they passed the anti-mary jane laws they called it marijuana so that no one would know what it was.it used to be called something else, though i forget what.

those morons!
richbrown1b 04-02-01, 10:55 AM Iam a Chemistry major at Wayne State University I have two question that you can help with. 1.) With marijauna burning in an chemistry hood ,what are the chemical elements that are in the escaping gas...So you say burning marijauna puts e.g. gas in yous body. 2.) Cocaine is asked of us th balance the chemical equation (C17H21NO4>CO2+H2O) Please balance. my e-mail is richbrown1b@yahoo.com
richbrown1b 04-03-01, 08:08 AM A 0.018(g) of white powder seized by Police produced 0.048(g) of CO2 and 0.010(g) of H2O in a combustion analysis (high temperture) oxidation. Could this be pure cocaine >C17H21NO4? Justify your answer, assume that the analysis results are accurate and that all "cations" were convertedinto CO2 , and that the H atoms were converted into H2O. Show work the molecule weight of cocaine is C17H21NO4>CO2+H2O H.Stephen Stoker General Organic and Biological Chemistry.
If I blow the smoke of a Marlboro cigarette in your face all day, you'll still get more harmful toxic smoke from car exhausts as you get out your car and go into a Taco Bell, much less sit in traffic jams. But those wonderful libs. want to protect you from yourself, yet give you fresh syringes and condoms to behave like mindless animals!
For one, those same wonderful libs are trying to make sure that you don't "get" "harmful toxic smoke from car exhausts". Of course, Dubya wouldn't like the prospect of ultra-low emissions technology or ultra-high efficiency engines -- that would just cost too much, doubtlessly shattering our poor economy. For that matter, he wouldn't like alternative fuels either, being the oil man that he is. At that rate, the glorious cons have always been opposed to tougher emissions standards or effective enforcement thereof, so if you do happen to ingest a good doze of toxins in traffic or elsewhere, you know whom to thank (and the next time you prepare to worship the market economy as the absolute solution to all of humanity's problems, take a good breath first.)
Then again, it isn't you they are trying to protect when they restrict smoking in public -- it is the others who do not care to inhale your crap. As for marijuana, I do believe that the majority of support for its legalization comes from liberals (with their ever-so-poignant inheritance from the hippie movement) -- while it's the Puritanic conservatives who keep on battling the satanic and oh-so-unAmerican monster of personal freedom.
And if you think that unless syringes and condoms were given out people wouldn't behave like mindless animals, then I suggest you get your chain of cause and effect examined.
Truthfully, I wouldn't be surprised to see George Jr. change this (IF ENOUGH OF YOU COWARDS WILL JUST SPEAK UP)!!!!
Are you shitting me??! The "good ol' Dubya" legalizing marijuana? Perhaps you forgot that our current joker in chief owes much to the right-wing Christians of the Bible belt? The political lamb of God? The moral compass of the free world? The man of "strong principles" and uncompromising "integrity"? Personally, I'd expect Hell to freeze over first.
In a recent study, it was determined that school children inhaled more toxic & dangerous carbons from diesel powered school buses, than if they smoked ten cigarettes per day!
Exactly. In California, at least, there had been years of talk about finally putting heavy diesel vehicles under the same exhaust standards as passenger cars. Of course, the reason it hasn't happened is that the trucking industry is very effective at buying political favors. They don't want to pay the extra few hundred bucks per truck for the sake of public health. They want extensive and multi-year scientific studies that prove conclusively and without a doubt that diesel exhaust is definitely bad for people (I don't want to believe people would buy that, but apparently people do.) Meanwhile, to stave off legislation, they pledge to voluntarily reduce their emissions. Ha!
WHAT makes you say that Boris, about the President?
What makes me so sure, is the repeated and loud Republican protests against the PNGV program of the Clinton era (an R&D program in "partnership" with car manufacturers to develop "next-generation" of cleaner and more efficient "vehicles".) That, and the ongoing assault against legislation that would force a certain percentage of ULEV's (ultra-low-emission vehicles) among new vehicles sold. That, and the continuing Republican opposition to including light trucks and SUVs into the same clean-air standard as the other passenger cars. Last time I checked, Bush was a Republican. I thought it reasonable to conclude that he would follow his party line -- especially given how close the election was (he wouldn't want to lose any Republican support in 2004, now would he?.)
Actually if a person wants more than lip service, then talk to crazy Ralph Nader about the environment
That's a very good point. It seems in this country the conservatives have been very successful at waging their campaign for economic growth at any cost. So successful, that even Democrats are now afraid they would lose voter support if they come out strongly for the environment. Thus, it is left to the "crazy" Ralph Nader to keep reminding the new barons of the information age that the future will be a direct consequence of the present. Personally, I think the Democrats lost it quite a while ago, and by now their party holds little appeal for me. I suppose we get what we (as voters) deserve -- but it really sucks that I have to share the fate of the herd.
Responsibility Boris, for one's actions, not the taxpayers.
Now who is the brainwashed fool? Guess why condoms are distributed? Because without them this country would suffer a lot more unwanted babies and STDs. Why are needles given out? Because without them the various diseases contracted through needle sharing would be ranging rampant across the country. Disease doesn't stop with the drug users or the sexually promiscuous. It affects the rest of us.
The key idea is PREVENTION. Is your mind large enough to wrap around that single concept?
Education, not emotional ignorance, Boris, has always been preferable to taking sides.
Well, tell you what: as an alternative to waiting 'till hell freezes over, the day Dubya legalizes marijuana I will personally declare emotional ignorance on this board. How's that?
P.S. If you don't care what I have to say, why do you read it (not to mention respond)?
I'm going to go back to the original question first.
It is illegal due to a man named Hurst. The famous pappermill and newspaer owner. As of current I do not have any links to send any body for further info, but I will shortly.
Basicly pot indangered the papermill industry. Hell it's cheap and grows faster. This also possed a major threat to his Newspaper business. As his shop was not setup to print canibis (sp?) paper. Being the ultra rich person he was he played a few favors in the goverment and pushed to have it maid illegal.
More details to follow, but for now onto other matters.
Pot smoke vs. Tobacco smoke. Round 1
It has been found that one joint contains 3 - 5 times the amount of cancer causing agents then tobacco smoke. Hummm shoots that one down. Now lets look at another aspects of your arguments. "pot doesn't make you want to go out and cause any harm to the economy / stability) Many research papers will show that those who smoke pot take more days and tend to take longer peroids of leave. Not to mention make more mistakes. Thus lower the total level of productivity.
High Times will only tell you what you want to hear!
Corp.Hudson 04-09-01, 11:43 PM Weed is not used to make paper. Hemp is. Lets keep the two issues seperate.
I may be wrong, but I heard marijuana was illegalized to help the struggling nylon industry compete against hemp products....?
And although a joint is much more harmful then a cigarette, nobody (well...hardly anyone) smokes 20 joints a day, every day of the year. And marijuana is not addictive. Tobacco is.
Also, so what if stoners are less productive? That is the price to pay for freedom. Sometimes people will make choices that are less productive then others. Gives all the non-stoners a bit of a competitive edge, doesnt it?
(BTW, I agree w/you 100% about High Times! Nothing but propaganda. Kind of like the DEA's TV spots and DARE....)
And although a joint is much more harmful then a cigarette, nobody (well...hardly anyone) smokes 20 joints a day, every day of the year.
You know, this is a sticking point with me on a couple of grounds:
* Only anti-drug groups make this claim.
* I have never seen the report demonstrating this claim.
* Online links referring to this report result in a dead link representing an anti-drug organization.
* The nearest thing to validation I've seen is a site at University of Indiana which mentions chemicals considered "potential" carcinogens.
And once we answer these questions, we have a few others to answer. For instance, if the report is demonstrated valid, we resolve nothing. I'm quite sure that smoking any number of foods would be bad for you. However, as a friend pointed out to me a couple of weeks ago: "If pot was legal, I wouldn't smoke it; I could afford to eat it." Right now smoking pot is the most econmic use of a plant that, often, costs more than gold.
Regarding the Hemp v. Marijuana debate:
Weed is not used to make paper. Hemp is. Lets keep the two issues seperate
I vote that they're one and the same because that's how the prohibition works. If this was about "marijuana' instead of "hemp", why is DEA banning "hemp" products (ointments, cloth, paper, &c.)?
However, once we establish that marijuana should be illegal for carcinogenic reasons, I agree that the world will be much better, for the lack of cigarettes, fossil fuels, building materials, refrigerants, lubricants, and other cancer-causing agents humans create and release into their habitat.
thanx,
Tiassa
Edit: In my objections to concessions of carcinogenics, I did forget to note that it is an excellent point regarding quantity.
DrugWatch.org is back up and running, though its website is currently a construction page bearing the absurd notion of liability regulation for drug dealers. This, in itself, could constitute a whole topic.
However, the primary relevant point is that twice now (once today) I have complained that the report noting the carcinogenic nature of marijuana has been unavailable; a plethora of web links via Google all turn up the dead DrugWatch page, and, as noted in another topic, a site at the University of Indiana would not go so far as the carcinogencic claims, noting the presence of chemicals that were "potential" carcinogens. Hopefully, the DrugWatch page will be available soon, so that I can read this report and determine its viability.
In the meantime, anyone who can provide a copy of the report in question will have my gratitude.
thanx,
Tiassa
Corp,
The only major differences between weed and canibis is that weed contains THC. Other then that it can be used for the same idsutrial uses (which I support!). No one may smoke 20 joints, but I have known plenty who smoked at lest 2 a day regurly. That comes out to about half a pack of smokes.
As far as addiction goes....
I said it about a hundred times and I say it again! I feel like I should buy time on TV for a PSA.
There is a subset of the population that is extreamly capable of becoming addicted to pot. 50% of the children of alcoholics are predisposed to an addiction to alchol. Of this 50%, 50% are predisposed to becoming addicted to pot. This is no supprise sence the 2 drugs are in the same class and act upon the same areas of the brain.
Now when you think about how many alcholics there are it should be clear that a substantial portion of the population can become addicted to pot. Sence alcholics and other addicts seem to feel the need to bring as many children into the world as possible this only makes the number bigger.
In regards to lower productivity. The point was brought up regarding the effect to the national economy and stability. The more workers you have that are less productive directly effects your bottom line. When this effects a large number of companys, large and small, it effects the bottom line for the nation. Thus having an effect on everyone who lives and works here. Both on the personal level and national. When I have to work with some who has smoked pot (or any drug) for many years I end up having to pick up thier slack making my day that much harder, and I don't get paid any extra for doing part of his / her job. Then we all suffer due to higher product prices, becuase they had to hire more pepole to achive the same productivity or train some one to replace the pot head they fired. There are hard numbers for lost revenue due to employee drug use, including pot.
Cause and efffect!
--Every day we have to make choices, but how many times do we think about how our choices effect others around us?
tiassa,
I was hoping I would get your attention!! It's been a while!
If I get any dead time a work tomarrow I see I can dig up some good links for you.
Regarding smoke in general...
whether or not a perticular type of smoke contains cancer causing agents doesn't really matter. through the process of burnning any material the decay process is ecelerated (sp?) relasing larger amounts of radiation. So even with the absence of chemicals that cause harm the long term effects of the smoke can cause nasty effects.
Deadwood 04-12-01, 06:18 AM I think Marijuana should not be made legal.
I have seen lives ruined by this drug, and would not wish it upon anyone. Yet, the notion out there is that it is cool to inhale a cocktail of over 60 carcenegenic drugs. It is cool, to get high, so as you can make a fool of yourself.
Ever seen a friend in class, have flashbacks?
Ever had friends that went from B students to high school dropouts? Not even receiving their junior certificates (not finishing grade 10)?
Ever seen people suddenly have their eyes turn red and their face dropped down permamently?
Ever seen people so depressed because they don't have this drug in their system or they won't get their next hit until the weekend?
Ever sat next to a friend who is high in class?
Ever had to drag a friend to a class after lunch because they thought they were a tree and couldn't move.
Ever had a frind rather go and get high instead of spending time with you?
Of course I am not friends with these people anymore. These people were once what I would call normal. However, one by one they all gave in to temptation to becoming drug addicts. One by one I saw their precious lives ruined. All human life is precious.
I'm not giving you what I read in a magazine. I'm telling you what I have seen personally first hand. I have never smoked marijuana, cigerettes, or what have you. I could never forgive myself if I did. B ut I see so much change in the people that do.
However, you interpret these facts is for you to decide.
You can argue all you like, however, one simple fact remains. It is this drug that has had a dentrimental effect on their lives. Saying it hasn't would just be simple denial.

(snippity...)
I think Jerry Springer should be made illegal
Have you ever seen a friend hooting like a moron in front of the television because someone insulted someone they used to shag?
Have you ever seen any go from discussing the world trade organisation to asking if you saw the tits on that stripper?
Have you ever had a friend rather stay in and watch lesbian love triangles rather than go to the cinema with you?
I could go on. Pick a subject, any subject, and with a few moments' thought you can come up with a reason to ban it. Cars? Horrible polluters. Football? A distraction, intended to ensure that the masses don't think of questioning the ridiculous decisions of government. Barbie dolls? Don't get me started.
As for your own assertions: marijuana neither induces flashbacks nor causes people to think they're trees. None that I've tried, anyway. Nor have I seen people depressed because they couldn't get any. The only effect I've notcied lack of hash to have is a tendency to clean the house. Don't ask me why; I've done it myself and I haven't a clue as to the reasons.
And for most people, it's not addictive.
ripleofdeath 04-15-01, 07:31 AM HOWARD FOR KING! :D

i used it like a tool along with lsd and speed and cactus
juice... oh and mushrooms
one genral thing that has always stayed constant in the hundreds of people i have personaly smoked with...
is
that they all (while under the influence in particular)
want to get-along with ALL others.
AND i could be wrong but i have never heard of any person commiting violent crime while under the influence of just cannabis the people who do do that have always(from what i have seen)

When I was still living at home my mother found this weed growing in our yard and accused me of growing pot...little did she know that I had a better spot then their backyard...anyways this weed even smells similar. Maybe its been mistaken for as a weed regularly and so the tag stuck.

Malaclypse 05-02-01, 09:22 AM Watched a special documentary on the history of drugs in the U.S. l;ast week, I think it was on A&E. Anyway, it appeared that ALL drug policy and law were concretely based on racial suppression and superstition. Here are some examples :
- Opium was wholly outlawed after a strong lobbying by western lawmakers (pressured from their rich, influential industrialist constituents) to "stop male Chinese immigrants from seducing white American women into their smoking dens and having intercourse with them". The propaganda just oozes, it's ridiculous.
- Cocaine was a VERY popular additive in most cure-alls and medications in the early 20th century and the only reason it was eventually outlawed was because southern racists wanted to "stop the drug-induced frenzy that occured when black men were under the influence of cocaine". Cocaine is evil but it's a fact that race, not human care and decency was the initial reason behind it's outlawing.
- Marijuana was eventually outlawed because "filthy Mexicans were it's most popular user" at the time and was considered "a dirty Chicano habit". How can laws be made and reasoned on such ridiculous basis'?
- The only reason Heroin was eventually outlawed was because the effects eventually progressed to white-anglo america. Period.
I don't advocate drugs in any way but I do believe in freedom of one's body and mind. Current drug laws are archaic, destructive, racist and ineffective to the root problem.
richbrown1b 05-03-01, 10:34 AM The Detroit Police Bomb Squad would like to the racist whom left 1,000,000 lbs of marij...and $100.000 and a bomb in the house which they detonated inside the house,,,chilling!!
... horrifying isn't it? The land of the free, and the home of the brave. If you want the really fun part of marijuana legislation, www.druglibrary.org should have, among its many pages, the testimony and work of Harry Anslinger. There's a reason I don't like a woman in nylons ... it's a reminder of this stupid Drug War.

Malaclypse 05-04-01, 04:17 PM Horrifying indeed........and it's only getting worse. As soon as the catch-phrase WAR ON DRUGS was penned by the Reagans (argh!) the military all of a sudden assumed it's place (with the Fed's help) along side the effort and lobbied hard to become a part of the huge amounts of money being thrown around in the name of DRUG INTERVENTION. What a crock. They will all burn for this charade......

richbrown1b 05-07-01, 10:17 AM A petition drive circulated in Michigan in three cities including Downtown Detroit [Hemp and Marijuana] to put drugs on the ballot . You need 300,000 registered voter signatures for the Voting Ballot. I haven't heard how many signatures were counted but I think it was a sucess!!! If this dosen't pass legislation .then I have to pull a couple of white rats out of the cage to find what gasses come out the body with carbon dioxide into the air and environment, Then what kind of cancer the rats get (like scientist done with cigarettes). Now for World and National Television Media coverage onthe findings and results!!
I'm catching the tail of this dog.
I feel that there isn't enough open opposition to the war on drugs. Nancy said, "Just say no." and all of the smokers went into hiding. What happened to open disobedience and massive gatherings? It caused change in the 60's.

AND even one of our citys has a national injection/support of [govt audit department study]
15 million dollars per year. FUNNY THING IS that the govt cant replace the economy it creates
ha ha ha ha ha...:/
i have used it for 10 + years for self medication and relaxation on a dayly bassis...
(ive quit now though cos im concentrating on some ("conflicting") developmental stuff at the mo...)
keeping all forms of drugs illegal gives the police and others something to hold over the mass of the population...leverage!

richbrown1b 05-12-01, 11:10 AM May 11,2001 will make my 20 years from prison. In the 70(s) the drug trade was different than the sixtys which I know nothing about, but Detroit was known about the Berry Gordy Motown museum acts etc...But he was not the drug kingpin tho judges and their friends gave them supreme (court) honor. So with his help so they would not reveal the pills, marijauna, acid and thc,methadone... where I would get 20 to 40 I settled for an tempory insanity for a 2-10. Since the I saw those acts be killed or died from it (maybe it's the act of revenge). Now their a abandoned place and I am American History!!! SO I CELEBRATING with about $400.00 in a twenty year celebration Not bad for a Biology Laboratory Facility Assistant Chemistry Major at Wayne State Universities College of Science.
richbrown1b 05-14-01, 09:17 AM and Detroit Police release 150 drug users and dealers because of lost records...and did you hear about the biggest meritime(or is it maritime) bust in U.S. History by the United States Coast Guard off California / 13 Tons of capsule cocaine seized....What do they do with the stuff???
Malaclypse 05-14-01, 10:33 AM - aside from the fiasco of the elections I read a ruling today that really convinced me that the supreme court needs to be abolished......
richbrown1b 05-15-01, 09:22 AM At least our elderly spoke about picking up the munch order [You got to eat!!] and getting up that nerve to perform a task!! What the PRESTIGOUS court done is made the ir subordinate known to the physician who will then tell the professor. THIS is the Domino effect in society, on a substance when it can be treated as a compound. WHAT NEXT??? IT has to be restricted limited to people without criminal mind,[rapeist, killers, habitual felons...] and people with natural brain dyfunction damage.
Malaclypse 05-16-01, 02:44 PM What will the Gov't. do with all that columbian gold? I have my ideas for sure......
Do you get mail often? I'll write ya and send ya some stuff if ya want!
MALA
ripleofdeath 05-16-01, 10:05 PM pass it on to there small of shore agents (to refinace there christmas partys) who will sell it back inland to smaller dealers...IN MY OPINION.
i wonder what they will actualy burn in front of the press?
people;?
who didnt want to sell at the price they offerd -not to bust them for?
DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF IT CAN BE RE-REFINED OR SOMETHING-
for the medical industry to use?
groove on
Malaclypse 05-17-01, 07:53 AM well medical cocaine is definately used in that industry so maybe they get some kind of deal......
richbrown1b 05-22-01, 09:22 AM Say, I just want to get off the subject for a second. I have the Discovery Civilization channel on my cable box to the series power line outside. On Fridays and Saturdays, there is New Zealand shown and the water iscovered with sting rays [torpedo and eagle], and they stay mysteriously by an underwater volcano two manth a year. Then it showed other fish Orca whales, sperm whales, goat fish ,clams ,crabs, and the expedition for The Giant Squid. Where do you keep the stash and what kind is it in New Zealand?
richbrown1b 05-25-01, 01:23 PM I have received a National Trust for Historic Preservation Travel to New Zealand [I am in history for Political Science and Geology]. It says for between $8,190-$8,590 I can tour Queenstoen, Milford Sound,Wellington, Marborough Sounds and Maritime Park Piction, Kaikoura, Lttelton and Christchurch, Dunedin, Milford Sound, Dusky and Doubtful Sounds. It looks like you have a pretty nice island!!! But is your stuff under some type of punishable ruleship? In Michigan we do life without possibility of parole!!! To see how stiff the governor can be on drugs. All you have to say is "We don't like DOPE and, put the dealer behind bars"in a State of the State Address and he's in elected office, and don't have to know anthing about politics!!!! I'll look you up if I go to your paradise island.
ripleofdeath 05-25-01, 10:03 PM :D
white island is an active volcano just ofshore of the continental shelf
we have huge mangroce swamps in total(lots of small ones)
and sounds that offer still saltwater enviroments.
we also have limited polution of the sea water which might help.
and we are a farming nation not a fishing nation(for food)
i would investigate the add-ons that you get with that price tag.
im sure i could organise a life brightening experience with half that money if it is us dollars!
i have worked in the tourist industry for a few years and there is alot of rip-offs in it even here in sleepy old NZ
most ski fields are owned by japanese or korean i think and alot of our hotels market off shore to create a captured un-informed market.
:(
but if you can kick the tourguided bull shit you can get a look at some amazing places that even some of the (less learned locals know of)
i have spent 20 years rock fishing in the north island-as a sport so i have first hand knowledge of some amazing destinations that cost nothing to view!
i have some pictures aswell
groove on
ripleofdeath 05-25-01, 10:06 PM :D
new zealand police also say we have some of the strongest outdoor weed in the world :)

a few hundred million each year alone.
ripleofdeath 05-26-01, 08:55 AM hey howard :D
great post!
you would be seen as a threat to the govt for making so much damn sence! :)
quick thought...re ADD (my op is its all a load of shit and most likely an effect of 'polution' on an advanced mind)
dope would have great benefits to someone with that
(quak stated) disorder.
my thought on doctors/medical profesionals-
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME A DOCTOR GAVE A DISCOUNT OR MONEY BACK FOR A WRONG DIAGNOSIS?
ive never heard of it!
sorry to hear about you and your bros probs :(
i have heard that milk and bananas are the only thing (combined) that can stop acidic damage to the stomach
while it repairs.
perfect excuse for a bong and a banana and icecream thick shake :D

How,
I must say that I am pleasantly surprised (not to mention blown away...) So, you actually <u>can</u> say intelligent things, intelligently!
I just hope this wasn't a freak occurrence. Keep it up, dude!
It seems that we have two of the same subject in different posts. Instead of making the same post twice I'll refer the readers to the post in Free Thoughts. :)
But there is something else I would like to add. Our politicians wouldn't be caught dead talking in favor of marijuana. Like the supporting of raising taxes it is the death knell of political life. And those who have went against status quo in favor of not making innocent citizens criminals have so suffered. Sometimes I wonder just who is benefiting from marijuana being illegal?
richbrown1b 05-30-01, 09:30 AM I just got into it with a dealer from around the block in my neighborhood. I went to spend $100.00 on some smokes [WEED& ROCK]. I was wearing some of my Lindenwold jewelry [Diamond ring, Midnight diamong star watch, Sterling silver signet ring, and I forgot to wear my Kentucky diamond cluster ring], when the nigger sissy kid had his friends to try to stick me up. To add to it ,his dope was cut with some type of flatning element, where there's no high to the brains, but additing enough to send you back to spend your money, knowing it ain't good, but you lose your money trying to get high!!! SOMEBODY IS GOING TO KICK HIS ASS ON THE JOB!!! Question is do you cut it to stretch your dope???
ripleofdeath 05-30-01, 08:15 PM question of morals------ he has none so take him out!
or go to another.......my point- stop the rock shit dude it will kill you too quick!
sounds like you need some high quality weed!

Neg. Electron 06-14-01, 05:55 PM people have choices, and just like cigarrettes or alcohal my dear friend mary jane should be kegal to, it shows us that it isnt very harmful if they prescribe it to sick patients, so were do they think it is bad? i am not a expert on the subject, i just know that when they passed the anti-mary jane laws they called it marijuana so that no one would know what it was.it used to be called something else, though i forget what.
richbrown1b 06-15-01, 11:06 AM Sorry I haven't typed a while but U.S. Costoms just busted an international shipment on the U.S. Ambassador Bridge that joins Detroit with Windsor, Ontario; Canada And American and and a student from India here at Wayne State [a complete lockdown]. The question is " What am I going to smoke while we roast a whole PIG today on campus? I need something to help digested this barbecued smoked pork!! The cops also raided, a string of Beer & Wine Party Stores , took the DOPE papers and pipes, the PADLOCKED each of them!!! Thats WIERD MEDICAL SCIENCE.
richbrown1b 07-23-01, 11:28 AM Saturday ( July 21,2001), while Detroit was celebrating it 300th Birthday called; Detroit 300, I was asked to campaign for Mayorial candidate Gill Hill. He is a former Detroit Police Commander and now a City-Council President. So you Know or can guess how my celebrating went [ Pure Paper!!!!!!] The Tall Ships was in town to celebrate Antoine D' LaMont Cadillac's arrival in 1701 plus Stevie Wonder but The Temptations didn't sing. So my fate is going to the University and working the Elections this Fall. Oh yea Puff Daddy was here Friday.
richbrown1b 08-07-01, 09:10 AM Last week Canada legalized medical merijauna ,and the Canadian Government will employ people to cultivate plus give you a, and will give you a canadian Government Identification card that explains to the Police that you are cleared for the use. Youn can now produce it in your home and land say's a report from the Canadian Journal. As for the good ole United States , United States Customs has the Bridge and tunnel secured here in Detroit for Illegally bringing it into the Country. It's better to gamble at an Canadian casino in Windsor and wait for your package to smuggle. So Detroit is going to be steped upm with Federal jobs from the A.T.F. , C.I.A. {for people that are Canadian citizens} ... So I might move to another country: Germany or China maybe...

Title: Pot Shrinks Tumors; Government Knew in ‘74
Author: Raymond Cushing
www.alternet.org/print.html?StoryID=9257
Faculty Evaluator: Mary King M.D.
Student researchers: Jennifer Swift, Licia Marshall,
Corporate media coverage: AP and UPI news wires 2/29/00
A Spanish medical team’s study released in Madrid in February 2000 has shown that tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active chemical in marijuana, destroys tumors in lab rats. These findings, however, are not news to the U.S. government. A study in Virginia in 1974 yielded similar results but was suppressed by the DEA, and in 1983 the Reagan/Bush administration tried to persuade U.S. universities and researchers to destroy all cannabis research work done between 1966 and 1976, including compendiums in libraries.
The research was conducted by a medical team led by Dr. Manuel Guzman of Complutence University in Madrid. In the study, brains of 45 lab rats were injected with a cancer cell, which produced tumors. On the twelfth day of the experiment, 15 of the rats were injected with THC and 15 with Win-55, 212-2, a synthetic compound similar to THC. The untreated rats died 12-18 days after the development of the tumors. THC treated rats lived significantly longer than the control group. Although three were unaffected by the THC, nine lived 19-35 days, while tumors were completely eradicated in three others. The rats treated with Win-55,212-2 showed similar results.
In an e-mail interview for this story, the Madrid researcher said he had heard of the Virginia study, but had never been able to locate literature on it. "I am aware of the existence of that research. In fact I have attempted many times to obtain the journal article on the original investigation by theses people, but it has proven impossible," Guzman said. His response wasn’t surprising, considering that in 1983 the Reagan/Bush administration tried to persuade American universities and researchers to destroy all 1966/76 cannabis research work, including compendiums in libraries, reports Jack Herer. "We know that large amounts of information have since disappeared," he says.
Guzman provided the title of the work—"Antineoplastic Activity of Cannabinoids," an article in a 1975 Journal of the National Cancer Institute—and author Raymond Cushing obtained a copy at the UC Medical School Library in Davis, California, and faxed it to Madrid. The 1975 article does not mention breast cancer tumors, which were featured in the only newspaper story ever to appear about the 1974 study in the local section of the Washington Post on August 18, 1974. The headline read, "Cancer Curb Is Studied," and was followed in part by, "The active chemical agent in marijuana curbs the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice and may also suppress the immunity reaction that causes rejection of organ transplants, a Medical College of Virginia team has discovered. The researchers found that THC slowed the growth of lung cancers, breast cancers, and a virus-induced leukemia in laboratory mice, and prolonged their lives by as much as 36 percent."
Drug Enforcement Agency officials shut down the Virginia study and all further cannabis research, according to Jack Herer, who reports on these events in his book, The Emperor Wears No Clothes. In 1976, President Gerald Ford put an end to all public cannabis research and granted exclusive research rights to major pharmaceutical companies. These companies set out—unsuccessfully—to develop synthetic forms of THC that would deliver all the medical benefits without the "high."
Update by Raymond Cushing
When I was a cub reporter twenty-eight years ago at the daily Advocate in Stamford, Connecticut, my first city editor—a white-haired veteran of the International Herald Tribune named Marian Campbell—told me that the cure for cancer was the holy grail of all news stories.
"Unless they discover the cure for cancer," she would say over the clackety-clack of the manual typewriters, "this paper goes to press on time."
What I found out a quarter-century later is that not even the cure for cancer is a big enough story to crack the Berlin Wall of media censorship in this country. Toss in the facts that the cure appears to be a benign substance that has been illegal for 63 years, and that the government knowingly suppressed evidence of its curative powers 25 years, and you get twice the storyćand twice the censorship.
I won’t name the "investigative journalists" who didn’t respond when I sent them this story. I won’t list the numerous "progressive" publications that ignored it. I won’t describe the forbidding sense of professional isolation I endured in the months I tried to place the story.
Suffice it to say that it’s what one would expect in a society that has criminalized its own young for two generations around the cannabis issue simply because we were told to do so.
Thousands of innocent people who are in U.S. prisons for possessing or selling "the cure for cancer" await liberation and reparations. Someday our grandchildren will look back and ask, "What did you do to set the cannabis prisoners free?"
Here’s what any responsible journalist should be doing:
Go to primary sources when evaluating cannabis research. The AP and other news organizations love to elevate "bad science" and suppress "good science" when it comes to cannabis. You have to read the original research articles yourself and make your own judgments.
Investigate and report on the war on children that is a major component of the war on drugs. The marijuana laws are the main tool the police use to persecute minors. No other policy affects more families in more insidious and devastating ways than cannabis
prohibition.
Learn about the history of cannabis prohibition and about the pharmaceutical, liquor, and tobacco giants that are behind it. If you don’t know the history of cannabis and hemp prohibition, you’re too ignorant to justifiably call yourself a journalist.
If it turns out—as my story would seem to indicate—that cannabis is the cure for cancer and the government suppressed this information for 25 years (and continues to suppress it), then the body count alone will make this the biggest holocaust in recorded history. Virtually all federal drug policy makers of both parties since 1975—including legislators, presidents and the DEA—will be complicit and criminally liable.
That’s why they don’t want this story covered.
To learn the history of cannabis prohibition, read www.jackherer.com. To read my story, type in the address at the beginning of this segment.

Pzzaboy 08-14-01, 02:02 AM The government is just too full of themselves to admit their wrong. Someday maybe we'll actually elect responsible humble people to office, and become masters of our own bodies again.

The day of legal, personal usage is coming to the USA! It won't be easy, but as long as the truth continues to hammer away at the superstition, then the progression toward the repeal of anti-marijuana laws will become reality.
<b>All those in favor say AYE!</b>
Every little bit helps people. Don't set back & let the inquisitores continue to mis-represent the facts. Speak up and state the facts!
Know the truth and the facts about marijuana. When the superstitious few cannot defend their weak postion for lack of facts, then marijuana prohibition will fall as quickly as the Berlin Wall!

Gjerry1 08-24-01, 02:21 AM Where I live Colorado. Marijuana is decriminalized i love it i have been busted 3 times. Twice it was wiped off my record because i did comunity service and the third time it was just a hundred dollar fine. People in colorado never sent people to prison for pot because most of us smoke it. We also have an amedment to our state constitution saying that a person with terminal illness may possess pot legally ya'all need to stand up for yourselfs and tell the governtment **** you you all can lick my ****ing ba**s. It will work it is working in Colorado i wouldnt be suprised if we were the first to legalize.
Pzzaboy 08-26-01, 03:21 AM I live in Arizona, maybe I should drive up north to smoke. But I've found that not getting caught helps the stress level go down quite a bit.

Banshee 08-29-01, 11:47 AM It's ridiculous that people may not smoke marijuana, but they can drink alcohol.....
Look at the difference between a drunk and a person who has smoked marijuana.
Who is the one you can have most fun with and less agression?
Exactly my friends, because marijuana is okay and not destructive like alcohol...
I am not against alcohol, but alcohol is allowed and marijuana is not........but smokers are nice people, not agressive or irritating. But they can't admit that because then every one will see they've always been wrong and the marijuana and hasj are not so bad at all:)
That won't happen, ever.......wish it would.......
richbrown1b 10-29-01, 01:08 PM With the Customs Busting aliens and drugsmugglers with the Guards up, I figure you have it safe not to find ANTHRAX powder in your shipment . Next time you light up a few, get on the computer and tell us you wish someone would anthrax your dope. Just a few lines that your afghan Sessamilia will not have that powder.
richbrown1b 10-29-01, 01:09 PM It's hot around the border with the bust of smuggling people to drugs . There was some anthrax found on the WSU Undergraduate Library, You figure you need some of it in your smoke to inhale. Let's see what's on the news about our situation with anthrax mixed with WEED!!! Find it in your shipment.
Banshee 10-29-01, 02:03 PM It is ridiculous to say that. The pot is grown in the Netherlands itself. And I do not smoke Afghan Hash; I only smoke good self-grown marijuana. We only have hash that is Afghan, no marijuana…
You better do a little more research before you make remarks like that. Think, for a change!
It just became a class C drug (class c is like perscription drugs) in britan, the chance of it being legalised is slim to none, but hell im stonned what do i know?:)
CounslerCoffee 10-29-01, 08:16 PM Me i dont do drugs. But if it is legalized heres what should happen:
The government should tax the hell out of it.
$30 for a joint
50 for a dime
100 for a quater
And 70% of that money should go to the USA, the deficite would probably be paided off in a week.
The government should also grow it so that it isnt so impure, you know causes paranoia, they know how to get rid of that kind of stuff. So if you grow it it's illegal, if the government grows it its legal. You get my point?
Banshee 10-30-01, 10:54 AM Yes you try to tell it well, but it won't happen that way. Really never in the USA.
The government of the USA is much to greedy. They will raise taxes on it that high, that it only will be possible to smoke marijuana if you are loaded with money.
So the normal people can only smoke when they have a prescription of the doctor. And even then I think they have to pay for it. It is ridiculous, it is a plant, no chemical drug like heroin or cocaine. (with cocaine, I mean the garbage they mix with the cocaine, 'cause that too is a plant!)
All countries should legalise marijuana. There would be a lot less trouble and fighting in the world, if most humans should smoke some marijuana every day.
And I sure do mean it!!!
I almost forgot how mellowed out and peaceful Khat chewers are ... maybe you can turn them on to mj too.
Banshee 10-30-01, 05:25 PM Chagur, that is a good suggestion. Maybe I will send him some.
Do you know his adress then?
Maybe I will send some marijuana to you, you sound like you could use a nice smoke...;)
Maybe you relax a little then, I really like that. I think you are so much nicer then. Do try it.;) ;)
Just send it to anyone you know in Somalia ...
Thanks anyway, but it makes me giggle too much ... :D
Banshee 10-31-01, 11:09 AM But don't you like to giggle sometimes then?? And having a nice relaxed feeling, if you are really having a bad day or so and feel very down or something like that?
Then you don't want to relax a little and giggle a bit? You do not mean that...:p
I wonder.
Maybe you are feeling so much better then and have a nice evening after a bad day.
You know what really is important about Marijuana? It helps against the pain if you have cancer or another illness. It takes the pain away, makes it softer, so people are feeling better then and they can live some more normal, without having pain all the time.
I know, I had breastcancer three years ago. The doctor made a mistake and did not cut the nerves totally. Now I am going to another doctor (specialist) for three years. He tried everything, nothing helps, that is really bad, because it is in my arm and I can't use it very much. It is terrible just to have one good arm and one who doesn't do what you want it to do.
So I am lucky to live in the Netherlands, 'cause it CERTAINLY helps against the nerve pain. The arm doesn't hurt all day now, it really is a very rotten feeling, believe me.
By the way, in earlier days humans cured their illnesses with herbs, just like Marijuana is, a herb, a plant that gives relieve by illnesses. You understand what I mean?:)
That is one of the main reasons I think they have to legalise Marijuana. But I can understand you don't want it. But you can try to understand that the idea of legalising it is not so bad.
If you want to understand. A lot of people tell immediately it is wrong and all smokers are criminals.
NOT the Marijuana users, the users of the hard-drugs, like heroin and cocaine. That is very wrong, that stuff, people get addicted and have to steal or so to get their fix or however they use it, but they get sick, always.
Not with Marijuana, no addiction. I can smoke it for months every day. And then I go somewhere where I don't use it and I never have had problems with 'sickness' of not using Marijuana, for longer then a month or so. Maybe the quality here is a little better, it is all self-grown in the Netherlands. There is nothing in it, no garbage which they put in heroin and cocaine that makes you so sick, you see.;)
Feel more comfortable just chuckling every so often ... and all I have to do is turn on the TV and go to a news channel ;)
As for having a bad day, other than wracking myself up doing a stupid, they've been few and far between and my medication of choice has usually been a martini (dry, stirred, not shaken :) :) ).
A social scene, where other's are giggling too, is where I'm most comfortable with mj ... and giggling too much. ;)
Riddler 11-09-01, 12:25 AM I am sorry to hear about your cancer, Banshee. Certainly you are correct about the use of marijuana as a treatment of pain relief. Marijuana can also have other beneficial effects, that are beyond pain relief though.
Although the effect of marijuana varies from person to person, it is true that marijuana does facilitate meditational and holistic medical treatments toward the remission of cancers.
Marijuana is an excellent way to help one to activate one's own natural immune system, in the fight against disease. In fact, marijuana is a wonderful way of seeking and finding physical balance and health for all people. The secret lies in the person's desire to look inward and outward, as well.
At one time, I believed that marijuana could help just about any person to be disease free. Today, I realize that most people simply don't understand how to see into their own minds and souls, to acheive these kinds of things.
If you are smoking marijuana while you are reading this Banshee, then try the following experiment:
- think about one of your limbs, such as an arm or a leg. You should be able to hold your mental focus on that limb for an extended period of time. Try to hold a constant mental focus on that limb for at least 30 seconds. During this time, you should begin to experience a warm sensation in that limb. This is because you have become extra sensitive and your mind has began to devote more and more of it's resources to that area. If you maintain your focus long enough on a smaller and smaller area in that limb, you may begin to notice that certain muscles in that limb will begin to twitch. If so, then you have already acheived what the "professional scientists" say is not possible.
It then becomes possible to gain greater and greater control over that area. You will eventually learn to control things such as blood flow (blood pressure) in that limb. With continuing practice, you will acheive the ability to consciously control every aspect of the function of that limb, Banshee.
None of this is new! It all goes way back to the ancient oriental martial arts and medicines, and Chi. It does exist and marijuana makes such things possible for many people, especially for people who are in need.
In time Banshee, it will become possible for you to focus on any part of your body and affect the healing processes. Again, this is not new, but has been practiced in Eastern medicine for thousands of years.
There is another facet, which is an extension of what I have previously mentioned. It deals with the ability to bring one's inner Chi out of one's own body and project it toward others. At one time, I had acheived the abilty to reach out (spiritually is my best description) to affect others. I believe that this is where the Chinese term (death touch) came from. Actually the term death touch is not accurate, as the ability to reach out toward others does not mean that it has to be harmful at all to others. This probably is not the place to even begin to discuss such a thing though.
There are a lot of healing herbs and medicines that fight cancer today, but their healthful effects can be multiplied if you learn how to increase blood flow to the possible cancerous areas, after you have digested these herbs and medicines. This is one of those things that can be learned by most people who smoke marijuana, if (s)he is interested in learning it. Far too often these days, most people are just looking for a buzz and nothing more. These people are the main reason that marijuana is illegal in so many regions. This is the biggest shame of all.
...Good luck Banshee...........

Banshee 11-09-01, 08:06 AM My dear Mr. Riddler, thank you for the information but I already know that for a very long time. I am not a fool and I have a good control over my body (mind over body), but nerve pain comes like an electrical beam suddenly, before you know it.
I have enough abilities to mind over body, but this is simply a rotten job by a rotten doctor.
Probably another person shall suffer more from this pain then I do because I know when it comes, so I relax immediately (without marijuana), just realax all muscles and set your mind to something else.
I really love music and my music always releaves, especially the sound of good electric guitars, like Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix.
And all with or without marijuana.;)
But it is nice to smoke marijuana, in the evening, with friends and like you said and I did before you, it is an herb, pure natural, no garbage in it.
Thank you for your concern and your advice.
Nice of you to write all this information down.
Last saturday i was pulled over with two close friends and searched by two out of line small town poice officers. They found close to a dime bag on each person and slapped us each with class b's ... for more then 2.5 but less then 10 grams. We were cooperative and polite, but were treated like criminals becuase we didnt rat the names of small time pot dealers in our town .... we are going to court the 26th of sept, and all await sentence in illinois. I just think its complete and total bullshit that I'm getting penalized for my own decision to relax myself in a manner that does not harm anyone. I am an above standard athelte ... and am in the top 16 for my weight class in the state for wrestling in illinois .... yet im considred a bum or slacker by unknowing slap jawed yocal cops in my town. I have been suspended from my sport for two weeks and have been harrased by several teachers for my "poor" decisions. I just wanted to voice my pissed off opinion on the consequences for such a small offence. I'm sure this is happening all over the country and I wanted to hear from others who have had the same thing happen to them in their own towns or states.
the court date is in december ... must be "too stoned to remember the real one" ... just a mistake i thought i should correct ... must have a real tragedy like the sept 11 incident on the mind a bit more then my petty offence
Welcome to Sciforums, smores.
I symphysize with your plight and the ordeal you will face. While I do not use MJ, I think it very wrong in what the US does in regards to MJ and the enforcement of laws against it. Rest assured that you are but one of literally thousands per day that come under the scrunity of the legal system. A system designed to part you from your money in many ways, from court costs to fines. It would seem to me that the legal system would be far more ahead to legalize MJ and tax the piss out of it than to hassel the everyday citizen for possessing it. IMHO.
What caused the "unknowing slap jawed yocal cops in my town" to pull
you over? Generally local cops don't have a hard-on for locals unless
they've had to deal with them a few times before.
Welcome to Sciforums - We need another stupid whiner looking for
pity around here. Like a hole in the head.
Take care ... and watch your behind if you do time. :D
Banshee 12-15-01, 05:06 PM Smores, welcome at Sciforums.
Typical united states. I can't say, you didn't know it up front. If you have Marijuana with you in these united states and especially now a days, you can forget it. One jump right into the prison cel.
They are afraid you are playing terrorist with it. The security guards and the police and the whole government of these united states should try Marijuana themselves. Perhaps they won't be that paranoid any more. Because they pick up everybody from the streets now a days...All terrorists. So they think.
Perhaps THEY can relax a little after smoking a good joint. I shall send one to the White House as soon as I can lay hands on some good Marijuana. To lighten them up a little...
Chagur, you begin to sound like a stupid whiner yourself. Don't you read newspapers or watch television? The whole united states government has gone insane, because they don't know how to handle the stupid war against terrorisme and just stop every one they want.
Doesn't matter if you are a local inhabitant or not...
Take care.:)
But I've spent more years working in the Criminal Justice System than you've
most likely been on this planet and when someone comes across like 'smores'
did, my immediate response is: Stupid punk looser.
I think if you check my posts you will not find another case where I came down
on someone like I came down on 'smores'. Even tiassa, dear 'stoned' tiassa, has
not incurred my anger regardless of his avowed use of MJ and his support of
the legalization of MJ.
Take care. ;)
Banshee 12-16-01, 11:28 AM You are right. I apologize to you for calling you a stupid whiner.:)
Just was so angry at the whole mentality of the government of the united(???) states against their own inhabitants. Guess I have to stay away from the newspapers a little more.
And you are more experienced in the Law, I am sure of that.
But I stay with my statement that it could be good for mr. president bush and his right hand men, to smoke a good joint so once in a while.;)
Take care...
Agree with your statement whole heartedly:
"But I stay with my statement that it could be good for mr. president bush
and his right hand men, to smoke a good joint so once in a while."
Unfortunately, IMHO, they're boozers.
Take care. ;)
John Como 01-06-02, 08:32 AM Legalization of pot is inevitable in this country, but perhaps not in this century. In my limited experience, I have always accepted three economic reasons for the continuing problem. From a government standpoint, marijuana production (unlike alcohol and tobacco) is difficult to grade, monitor and tax. Whether or not you die of lung cancer, cerrhosis of the liver or a drug overdose is of little concern to anyone except your family and, more importantly, to the insurance company. Secondly, the gazillion dollar drug trade is really BIG business, made even larger by the prohibitive nature of the product(s). And finally, you may not go to work tomorrow because of a hangover or a smoker's cough, but you're back on the job the following day, full of guilt and remorse. On the other hand, get spaced out on drugs and you may decide that the job is quite meaningless, compared to your wonderfully euphoric state of mind. Suddenly you and other peaceful drug users become a huge threat to your country, whose history is based on greed and profits, a country which will not look kindly on your refusal to protect its economic-political interests, even if it means going out and killing your fellow-man.
At least that's the way I see it on this beautiful Sunday, Jan 6.
Banshee 01-06-02, 03:50 PM John Como, I have to agree with you. But not because I like it.:(
You are right here. But I don't want to be living in such society. So I try to live my own life in good peace and understanding with my fellow humans. It doesn't work out well all the time. But at least I try the best I can.:) Perhaps, if everyone should try to be a little more patient and friendly towards eachother, the governments would become some more peaceful too. Well, by writing this, I immediately feel that it is not so. And it will not be so in the years to come.
So with or without Marijuana, the governments want to have control over every inhabitant of their country.
By the way, you don't have a hangover if you use Marijuana the night before. You wake up happy and ready for the day to come.:)
A good THC 'bomb', the best there is to calm the warloving governments down...;)
