Dude I make yogurt in my dehydrator as well!! I've only ever made soy/almond yogurt though.

I made yogurt in a yogurtmaker I bought back in Michigan...the thing smelled a bit foul if I did not wash it, and it was not as good as commercial yougurt (activia)...yoplait sux.

I could probably make a gallon if I wanted but I've only ever made a quart or 2 max because I haven't settled on a recipe I really like yet.

I use Stonyfield Farm (plain fatfree) as my starter... i use about a cup to make a gallon... an i use powdered milk.!!!

I cook mine about 8 houres... or whatever is necesary to get a slight tart flavor.!!!

I get very consistent results by usin Stonyfield Farm as my starter... an i can then use the yogert i make as my starter for the nest batch or 2.!!!

I have tried to make yogurt like 10 times, but, to no avail :( Even using a yogurt maker. Maybe the milk??? I've tried homogenized and unhomogenized full cream.

I use Walmart brand powdered milk... i add water an heat it to about 190 degrees (in microwave)... i let it cool (in a sink of cold water about 35 minutes) to 110 degrees... add my starter (1 cup of Stonyfield Farm plane non-fat to 1 quart of milk) an stir well... poor it into contaners an cook it at 110 degrees 6 to 8 houres... the result is... it will taste jus about like the origional Stonyfield yogert (which is quite good)... at that pont i cook it an houre longer for a bit of tartness.!!!

What results do you get.???

Why don't you just buy the original Stonyfield yogurt? You can even heat that for an hour to get the tartness, whatever that is, you like.

I can only speak for myself but it's much cheaper to make your own yogurt and you have more control over how much sugar goes into it etc.

Well i mosly like eatin yogert plane but i do add fruit to it for desert somtims... an yes i add raisins an cinnamon to my bread somtims... an why on earf woud my eatin yogert wit tomatos an onion an black pepper an peanuts cause anyone to loose any of the grate respect for me that i have built up over the las year :shrug:
