View Full Version : Obama And The Fly

More out of amusement, I post this.

I'm a big fan of the Colbert Report (http://www.colbertnation.com/the-colbert-report-videos/230968/june-17-2009/murder-in-the-white-house---fly-widow-interview) and he poked fun at this non-story in his pseudo-conservative style.

I dug through PETA's website and came across this statement, which I have to respect. It's not like they are hypocrites. I don't agree with a lot of what they say (I love meat, avidly wear leather shoes and have a few coats made with animal flesh), but I do respect the fact that they don't hide, even a small bit, who they are and what they are fighting for.

Obama and the Fly, Part Deux (http://blog.peta.org/archives/2009/06/obama_and_the_f2.php)
Because we've heard from so many people who want to know more about PETA's position on "Flygate," we've decided to explore the question of "to bee or not to bee" in a bit more depth.

As we all know, human beings often don't think before they act. We don't condemn President Obama for acting on instinct. When the media began contacting us in droves for a statement, we obliged, simply by saying that the president isn't the Buddha and shouldn't be expected to do everything right—if not for that, we would not have brought it up. It's the media who are making a big deal about the fly swat—not PETA. However, we took the opportunity, when asked, to point out that we do offer lots of ways in which to control insects of all kinds without harming them, including the humane bug catcher we sent President Obama. There is even a chapter in PETA President Ingrid E. Newkirk's book The PETA Practical Guide to Animal Rights about how to rid your home of "uninvited guests."

We have lots of other items on our agenda, as you can imagine, and PETA's focus will remain on our core issues—promoting alternatives to eating animals, opposing fur and products made from animal skin, opposing laboratories that torment animals, and fighting the abuse of animals in circus training camps as well as other overt abuses that fall within our mission statement, which states that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment.

We support compassion for all animals, even the most curious, smallest, and least sympathetic ones. We hope that everyone will take inspiration from Nobel Peace Prize–winner Dr. Albert Schweitzer, who believed that even insects were deserving of compassion and who would stop to move a worm from hot pavement to cool earth. Aware of the problems and responsibilities that go along with an expanded ethical code, Schweitzer said that we each must "live daily from judgment to judgment, deciding each case as it arises, as wisely and mercifully as we can."

We can't stop all suffering, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't stop any. Our wish is for all people to act wisely and mercifully toward animals.

Yes, I do find it amusing that being “Dirty Harry” or a “cowboy” was a bad thing when President Bush was in office but now there is a new gunslinger in office and the people of NBC are getting thrills running up their legs with His prowess.

I think you are projecting Buffalo Roam, it was a fly not people the Commander it Chief killed. There is a difference. There is also a difference in being dumb (george II) and being smart.

Talk to CNBC about that, it was their man John Harwood, who made the comparison;

During a CNBC interview, New York Times reporter John Harwood shared an intense moment with President Obama: "He had this fly that was persistently buzzing around him during the interview...he swatted his hand and he said ‘I got the sucker’...it was a, you know, Dirty Harry ‘make my day’ moment."

Yes, everything the Obamainator does is larger than life for liberals;

Harwood described the showdown at the end of the 4PM EDT hour on MSNBC, after anchor David Shuster remarked: "John, I know that the President is credited with being sometimes awfully lucky, rainbows appear sometimes when he speaks, but I understand there was an instance today where he killed a fly out of mid-air during your interview." Harwood began to tell the tale: "Well, David, this reminded me of that moment during the campaign when he took a three-point shot at a military base and it swished."

Rainbows appear when the Obama speaks? Three point swish?

Co-anchor Tamron Hall concluded the discussion by comparing Obama’s quick reflexes to that of the martial arts expert in the movie Karate Kid: "Mr. Miyagi, just snapped it right up. Look at that – look at that intense look."

Mr. Miyagi moment?

Guess what it wasn't Mr. Miyagi, it was Daniel who caught the fly with the chop sticks, not Miyagi, MSNBC can't even get that right.

LOL, the only people saying this kind of stuff are those on the right. Obama has plenty of critics on the left as well as the right. Because Obama makes the bushies look dumb and incompetent by comparison, I can understand why bushies and those on the right might think of him in divine terms.

MSNBC, John Harwood, Tamron Hall, David Shuster, are on the right?

All of that retoric is from the Left Wing Talking Heads.

They are the ones with the thrill running up their legs;

Chris Matthews

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m9Gbb6NSwM

Chris Matthews expressed his latest over the top admiration for Obama's speaking skills as the MSNBC anchor admitted that Obama's speech created a "thrill" in his leg:
"It's part of reporting this case, this election, the feeling most people get when they hear Barack Obama's speech. My, I felt this thrill going up my leg. I mean, I don't have that too often."

Yes, who are the ones who describe Obama in such reverent tones? Liberals.

Admiration is not Godhood. People including myself admired Reagan's public speaking skills and leadership skills too. But again, no one but the bushies and folks on the right are touting Obama as divine or attributing divine qualities to him.

See the problem is a 4 year old child could make the bushies look dumb and incompetent by comparison, the fact a black man the does not speak in Ebonics is doing it adds salt to their wounds, the only rational for them is to play on it as simply too good.
