Where you don't need to have much customisation and where you're constantly shifting from one connection to another..
I'll definitely be looking into it's deskstop potential (I like customisation etc), and it's non resource hogging..
Either way, Opera kicks ass over IE.. but FF can still give it a run.

Opera is good, but you will find there are some plugin errors, if you know your way around computers it shouldn't be a problem.

I like its built in irc client and all-in-all a great alternative to ie and ff. The widgets are not as useful as ff addons, but it looks crisp and sharp.

I found it faster than ff in slower connections, despite having tweaked my ff.
Also, is there a way to prevent or block images to speed up load time ?

There is a button in Opera to display any of images-no images-cached images.
Fit to width is a gem of a feature. Opera gets my vote.
