I downloaded a zip file a time ago, and the folder inside had a background picture. The picture was a hidden file in the folder.

WTF?!?!? I've seen that on Mac, but I've never seen it with Windows other than that one instance. It was really cool, and I'm wondering how it happened. I was never able to find any references to it anywhere.

Anyone know how to do that?

Wait, never mind!

I guess it's just not something that is a standard part of the os.

Anyone ever do this?

Kind of neat, anyhow. I'll probably get carried away decorating folders.

I know someone who does that. I never felt the urge to do it myself though ;)

I had no idea it was possible if it weren't for that folder I downloaded with the Batman background, which really confounded me. I guess my main problem was looking in the windows help files on the computer, and I wasn't finding any references at all. I could have swore I looked on the net and didn't find anything either, but maybe I didn't?
I was assuming there was some folder option or something that I would discover that would solve everything, but i suppose now that I was wrong.

I think folder backgrounds can be cool. They help differentiate and make things stand out, like having specific icons for folders so it's easier to instantly recognize, instead of wading through tons of vanilla icons.

WMF? W T F ???

Don't see what in deity's name this has to do with background images in folders. Really don't. Are you being subtle? Is this allegory?

This is something what can be interesting, but overall doesn't add much to the computer experience.

I was looking at eye candy in Linux, you know the spinning cubes with your folders and open applications, but at the end of the day, you do the exact same tasks, you go to the same internet as I do...

So it is only eye candy, nothing more...
