View Full Version : Pornogrophy: Good or Bad?
Personally, I don't really have much of an opinion on this topic since I don't look at Pornography. Yeah, I'm a straight, adolescent guy, and that's not to say it wouldn't arouse me, but I still think there something wrong about it. (on my part). To me it's kind of insulting, like saying that I couldn't get a girl or something like that.
Like I said, I don't look at it, and don't really care if somebody else does. If it doesn't affect me, then why should I? Now, when it starts to involve gross illegal crimes, then I'll get pissed.
What are your opinions on the subject of pornogophy?
Northwind 07-06-02, 08:41 AM Good or bad? It really kind of depends on the production values...
PORN: MMMMMMMMMMMMM Fleshy Goodness!

LOL!! Funniest quote I read in two days.
Golden age flicks are decent.
Modern porn is so screwed up I can't even masterbait with it. A lot of stuff they do are really gross that I don't find them erotic at all. (don't want to get into explicit detail). Also sex in porn doesn't emulate sex in real life. For starters a sex scene in porn always end with men having orgasm. That is not how it works in real life :D
You Killed Jesus 07-06-02, 02:53 PM That's what softcore is for :D
I like erotica better.
my preference is 3D art erotica.
that is smth beautiful:)

Oh yeah, and modern porn sucks.
3D computer graphics in which are shown beautiful women.

Check it out. Very very nice work by an artist named Stephen Stahlberg. I've become interested in this sort of graphics recently.
More here: http://www.optidigit.com/stevens/
I never knew there were so many kinds of pornogrophy?!?!
If your interested with computer graphic ladies then try
http://www.3dbuzz.com
They send you free software with which you can create 3d images (computer ladies or other images.) So far I signed up, (for learning about the creation of non-pornographic media) and never recieved anything.
So what the hell happened to child graphics porn ruling in supreme court?
Ruled unConstitutional, I think.
Zoidberg 07-07-02, 07:28 PM Pornography is there for a reason. Because people want it. If people didn't want to look at pictures of naked women (or men), there wouldn't be any porn. But people do like to look a said pictures or watch movies.
I agree that young children shouldn't be exposed to it but teenagers plus should as we all have some urges.
~The_Chosen~ 07-09-02, 04:04 AM Porno is for the people that cannot get laid, no offense. I used to watch porn at a very young age and it polluted my mind and my perspective of women. It's stupid, I'm voicing my opinion.
Alot of people look at porn and there are lots of better things to do than that.
Aside from that, looking at too much porn can seriously damage your image of women and what turns you on.
A friend of mine I knew, he was very old, married. He told me all about porn and how bad it is. Trust me, it is bad.
A man is married and looks at porno constantly. When him and his wife have sex, he can't get an erection because of how "imperfect" his wife is compared to all that porno shit. Now that's very pathetic. Do you know how emotionally damaged that man's wife is? Everytime they have sex, he needs to look at a naked picture of Pamela Anderson to achieve an erection. You can tell their relationship did not last, the wife was badly hurt, deep inside her.
So try to resist your urges, once you do, your on your way to handling women better instead of looking at them as only sex objects.
Thankyou, Chosen!
I agree entirely with your post. Very informative. I never really believed the problem lied with the people in the porn, but how we saw it. Sad Story. I'm pretty surprised though, at what porn did to that guy. He must have watched ALOT of it.
Sometimes, I've actually been tempted to visit those websites, but my self control......controls me from doing so. Porno's been around for along time now, and I'd doubt it will ever completely vanish. But we should all learn to have more respect for OURSELVES.
then I have a real problem. No Pamela will suit me. I'll have to get a 3D digital projector....3D digital girls.....mmmmmmm
Being a cyberpunk really changes your taste;) :D

...try to resist your urges, once you do, your on your way to handling women better instead of looking at them as only sex objects.Seems a rather narrow view, but perhaps that will change as you grow older. The Fish and Mrs. Fish have been married for 20 years, and we are very close. We watch adult films together, and are suffering from no mental traumas.
Does watching horror movies turn you into a chainsaw wielding maniac? If watching pornography causes a change in the way that a man perceives women, I would argue that there is emotional immaturity or instability that is already present, and is merely brought to the surface by viewing adult oriented films.
Peace.

I actually first saw porn when I was 10 years ago
My friend's father didn't hide them very well. That is how I figure out how sex works.
"Porno is for the people that cannot get laid, no offense. I used to watch porn at a very young age and it polluted my mind and my perspective of women. It's stupid, I'm voicing my opinion."
To you. Someday I hope you will acknowledge and respect a world where many different things can produce many different reactions within many different people. Ah well......someday.
"Alot of people look at porn and there are lots of better things to do than that."
I ate peanut butter and toast for snack last night. I didn't really need food, I just felt like having some peanut butter and toast. Does that make peanut butter and toast (or the act of eating it) wrong or bad? I play hockey quite often. There's things that to some people I could better spend my time doing. Does that make it bad or wrong?
"Aside from that, looking at too much porn can seriously damage your image of women and what turns you on."
I'm not going to argue that porn can open your mind to changing what turns you on. But I also don't particularily care about it.

This man already had emotional or psychological problems if he is so distorted by pornography that a naked woman who wants to have sex with him is not arrousing. I highly suggest you advise him to seek help.
"So try to resist your urges, once you do, your on your way to handling women better instead of looking at them as only sex objects."
Haha! This from the DJ who likes to play the game because every guy apparently is after women? Now that's irony! On top of which it's just plain wrong. You watched porn when you were younger; did you consider women sex objects? I watched porn quite gladly for a period of, well I guess about a year and a half or so. Never made me see women as sex objects.
"But we should all learn to have more respect for OURSELVES."
How does watching porn show self disrespect?
Joeman:
That explains a lot.
You'll all be shocked - SHOCKED - to hear that I first encountered porn at a young age.
I am hardly a crazed sex-murderer. Personally, I do not like the - bluntness - of most porn. But to each his own.
Chosen: Pamela Anderson has only been in one skin flick, to my knowledge. The infamous video with her and Tommy Lee.
You're probably thinking of Jenna Jamison, who looks quite simular.
As for your friend, I'd advise you to advise him to seek some sort of counseling.
As Goofyfish mentioned, some couples make a habit of watching porn together.
*Shrugs*
A bit of brandy and a nice Tiffany Minx flick sounds like a romantic evening to me, as well.
Xev,
To be perfectly honest with you, You ARE scary
I still love you Xev, but it is gonna take me quite awhile to really get over what you have said this afternoon :D
I don't know how you turned out like that. Where the hell are your parents? Nevermind. Maybe I am dumb but I gotta go outside and take a breath of fresh air.
Joeman:
Yes, I am, aren't I?
I'm rather glad you've noticed.
I don't know how you turned out like that. Where the hell are your parents?
Parents? I was raised by wolves.
Or rather, not raised. I mean, how many fourteen year olds have you met who've read "Justine"?
Ooooh - I'd better avoid scaring you any more.....

Wrong. Sorry to be so blunt, but you are apparentlyspeaking from a very narrow world-view.
Softcore is ok, I object against hardcore.
What about couples who watch adult films together?
Surely, your woman can't compare to some porno star such as Jenna Jameson, if so then great! Other than that, watch it everyday, masterbate to it.
Once you do this, we are what we REPEATEDLY do.
If you don't masterbate to it, good, but if you do it too much, it'll be such a bad habit and all you can do is masterbate to a porno video and not your own imagination.
By all means, let us rely on one man's opinion. Could we know his qualifications? He obviously has other issues, IMHO.
No don't rely on one man's opinion, rather ask alot of men, old men that know. I know i did not express myself clearer.
Seems a rather narrow view, but perhaps that will change as you grow older. The Fish and Mrs. Fish have been married for 20 years, and we are very close. We watch adult films together, and are suffering from no mental traumas.
What kind of adult films? How OFTEN? Hardcore? Softcore? If you consistently watch it together, then there is no problem, just don't rely on the porno movie to be aroused, it will start becoming a habit.
But you are married for 20 years, that's great Goofyfish, watching alone and masturbating to it, I object against.
Does watching horror movies turn you into a chainsaw wielding maniac? If watching pornography causes a change in the way that a man perceives women, I would argue that there is emotional immaturity or instability that is already present, and is merely brought to the surface by viewing adult oriented films.
Peace.
No, but I did not make myself clear.
You are what you repeatedly do, things will become habit.
If you do masturbate ONLY to porno movies, this will indeed become a habit.
You are so used to such porno movies, that it's the only thing that could possibly turn you on. Picture this, I will take an extreme case.
Everyday, you come home, porno, masturbate. The next day, same thing. You keep doing it, your arousals will ONLY respond to those porno movies.
But I see you watch it with your wife, so that is perfectly fine.
Peace.
Even watching it by yourself is fine. Like I said I went through the same little period that every coming-of-age boy goes through where porn is very cool. Never hurt my abilitiy to get aroused by something else.
I know I seem to you to be some poster boy for everything you argue against but I'm just being honest. If porn is the only thing that can get you off the porn ain't the problem.

Look at religions.
I do respect those views. My opinion, Tyler, I don't watch porno, because I don't need it to be aroused.
I ate peanut butter and toast for snack last night. I didn't really need food, I just felt like having some peanut butter and toast. Does that make peanut butter and toast (or the act of eating it) wrong or bad? I play hockey quite often. There's things that to some people I could better spend my time doing. Once again, I did not say it was wrong.
I'm not going to argue that porn can open your mind to changing what turns you on. But I also don't particularily care about it.
Watch it everyday, masturbate to it everyday, or several few times a day...you'll see how much it will indeed affect your view of "arousal"
This man already had emotional or psychological problems if he is so distorted by pornography that a naked woman who wants to have sex with him is not arrousing. I highly suggest you advise him to seek help.
No, he always watched porno when he was young, he can't help it, it has become a habit for him. His wife does not compare to the porno stars visually, camera angles, lighting, video shots, no real women looks that good.
He has seek help, his wife is so emotionally damaged, it's a sad story.
Haha! This from the DJ who likes to play the game because every guy apparently is after women? Now that's irony! On top of which it's just plain wrong. You watched porn when you were younger; did you consider women sex objects? I watched porn quite gladly for a period of, well I guess about a year and a half or so. What is up with people and them telling me I AM WRONG?! This is utter bullshit, I never tell people they are wrong. Convictions are convictions, conflicts arise when you start saying your conviction is right over mine. Tyler, you have alot to learn, you are intelligent.
Everyone has different opinions Tyler, how can you say mine is wrong just because you don't see women as sex objects. What the WHOLE POINT of porno? Just like how you said you were natural with women to say my advice is wrong?
Guys are after women, not every single guy, but it's a safe genelization to make, Tyler.
How does watching porn show self disrespect?
My opinion, once people get laid more often, porno is chump stuff.
Cases like Goofyfish are exceptions, since he watches it together with his wife.
Same as using vibrators for sex with your partners. I object using it solely for yourself, you're implying the vibrator can please you other than your partner.
Chosen:
Don't take this as criticism but....
NO woman can EVER compare to the women in porn, magazines, movies, etc. It ain't just porn. It's not simply a matter of one's prowess being compared to Jenna's.
It's simply that none of us can ever reach the level set forth in tv, magazines, movies, yadda yadda.
Porn is not the problem.
"That's my opinion, I am not saying anyone else is wrong. It's my conviction. I do not use my conviction and tell other people they are wrong. The problem lies in using your convictions to tell others that they are wrong and imposing your convictions on them"
My mistake on assuming you thought porn was bad or wrong. However, you seemed to take that side on a two-sided debate.
"No, he always watched porno when he was young, he can't help it, it has become a habit for him. His wife does not compare to the porno stars visually, camera angles, lighting, video shots, no real women looks that good"
You think porno women are that attractive??? I never did. They always looked skanky to me.
"What is up with people and them telling me I AM WRONG?! This is utter bullshit, I never tell people they are wrong. Convictions are convictions, conflicts arise when you start saying your conviction is right over mine. Tyler, you have alot to learn, you are intelligent."
1) I am not intelligent and I resent being called that. It is a compliment that is too often thrown around.
2) Convictions are convictions. And this is a debate forum. So we are here to debate convictions. It's a perfectly acceptable topic to debate.
"Everyone has different opinions Tyler, how can you say mine is wrong just because you don't see women as sex objects. What the WHOLE POINT of porno? Just like how you said you were natural with women to say my advice is wrong?"
The point to porn is for men to jack off to. For some, it is one step better than their imagination. You insinuated that anyone who watches porn with some regularity will view women as sex objects. All I intended on doing was showing you that it's not true.
"Same as using vibrators for sex with your partners. I object using it solely for yourself, you're implying the vibrator can please you other than your partner."
Huh? You're against women using a vibrator for masturbation? Why?

I'm talking about those Vivid porn, where they are enhanced video shots..etc. etc..
Yes, I agree, porn is part of the problem. Porn is "fake" arousal, you're getting aroused to women that are shot at certain camera angles, have the right amount of lighting to expose a nice view, photogenic potential, etc. etc.
Having sex with a real women is totally different. IMO, you don't need porno once you have a women, unless you are like Goofyfish, where it benefits both.
when you learn to control your urges, it will help you become better with women and exert more control over yourself (more power ;))

The point to porn is for men to jack off to. For some, it is one step better than their imagination. You insinuated that anyone who watches porn with some regularity will view women as sex objects. All I intended on doing was showing you that it's not true.
Well, I admit, but that is a very rare case. Most men that view porn see are more likely to view women as only sex objects. The whole point of porno is sex.
Huh? You're against women using a vibrator for masturbation? Why?
If she has me, I would not like her using it for masturbation. When we're together, no problem. That's insulting to me, a vibrator can please her more than I can? That is what I would think. It's like me jacking myself off and letting her go to sleep alone.
Any women with me needs no vibrator anyway, if they feel that urge I will satisfy it with whatever means, she must return the favor though, IMO oral sex works all the time.
"I think it is stupid, I'm voicing my opinion, I have no right to say another view is wrong."
I would argue that an opinion based on a false 'fact' is wrong.
"You are truely different Tyler, I applaud that."
Thanks. Now I'm sure I'll loose that by pointing out that there are of course a couple attractive ones in the business!
"Well, I admit, but that is a very rare case. Most men that view porn see are more likely to view women as only sex objects. The whole point of porno is sex."
Hm. A good amount of my peers (16 white male in upper-middle class toronto) view porn and they don't appear to see women as sex objects any more than any other man.

You're 18? So a girlfriend you wouldn't live with I take it. So if you don't see her for, say, 3 days and she gets horny she's not allowed to use a vibrator? Despite that it no way indicates the vibrator does more than you?
And what of single women?

Good, but certainly you can't say that for all males, so my statement still stands.

This is my opinion, but I don't want no woman that can't control her own urges. I wouldn't be able to trust her. She wouldn't need a vibrator, she can let all the tension build and wait for me...anticipating everything :D Creates extreme arousal.
Single women, i don't object, they can do whatever they want with themselves. I just think it is disrespectful to use it for masturbating when you have a boyfriend, it's implying the bf hasn't pleased her enough.
Never happened to me, but that is how I would feel :D I bet a women would feel the same if I bought one of those fuck dolls...how would she feel if I use that to get off instead of her
How does watching porn show self disrespect?
It only shows self disrepect when you don't have any self control over what kind of material your feeding yourself. For example, sometimes people who watch porn get addicted, and cant say when enough is enough. And some people have such little respect for themselves, that although they might not admit it, they try to get involved and live in a fantasy world that just doesnt exist and choose to live their lives that way. These people can live dirty lives where they the only nookie they get is on the toilet while eating a cake. You know the kinda people I'm talking about. It's destructive rather than constructive.
And I'm not saying that it's neccessarily an evil thing. If you turn it into a constructive thing, then it can be good. Otherwise (which is most of the time) it's destructive. See what I'm getting at. Look at all the disgusting parts of the Porn Business. Some people involve innocent animals like dogs!! Talk about twisted. I doubt that kind of shit could ever be constructive.

Porn DOES serve a purpose for people, it allows us to view sexual situations and fantasies that are out of the realm of reality.
Just like a good comedy movie stimulates laughter in us.
Just like a good drama movie stimulates tension in us.
Just like a good action movie stimulates excitement in us.
Just like a good horror movie stimulates fear in us.
A good porn flick can get us going sexually.
Obviously, too much of ANYTHING is bad for you, but the vast majority of people who watch porn do it infrequently.
I feel sorry for those who take things like porno too seriously.
Triente Siete 07-24-02, 04:34 PM Pornography is perfectly fine and ethical. It helps develop sexuality in teenagers, and prevents them from using drugs or vandalizing property. It also creates income for millions of hopeless women with large breasts, and men with large penises.
And plus its fun.:)

My first experience with XXX flicks was with my wife while eating stew.
We both broke up so badly that it was impossible to finish until the flick

hahahaha. I personally didn't notice that...but good noticing Increan.
My stance on porno is that it has its positive and negative. But most of the time people use it in a destructive way, or they rely on it too much that it poison's their mind, or corrupts them on how they react and think. As long as people don't lose sight of what they have in the beginning, it's perfectly fine. It's basically a moral argument, as long as one's morals do not get twisted over porn, porn is absolutely fine. In cases such as Fish, yes that's good, as long as it doesn't twist their mind and narrow their view on the world that sex is all they need etc. Anyways children get exposed to porn too easily and at a very young age, that they have sex at a very young age which is not good. I myself have lost it at 14, and when I look back, it's kinda of disgusting because when I view children, they look too young to be exposed to those things too quickly, and most of the time pron corrupts the mind. People should do it when the time is right and when they are mature.
Porn is great... I love porn. Look at it all the time. Just got done looking as a matter of fact... and instead of masterbating tonight, I'm going to wake up my wife for a little love.
Somebody please tell me who is getting hurt here. I have sex with my wife with or without porn.. it is always pleasing for both of us. Sometimes we watch it together but sometimes I watch it myself. Where is the victim?
I've been looking at porn for over 15 years.... I still LOVE sex with the average woman.
Learn to enjoy life.... Christ, people can be uptight.
As long as you stick to the good stuff.
Yep, once you find a source of the good stuff, plaster yourself to it because you probably won't find anything like it again.
Chosen One:
"Any women with me needs no vibrator anyway, if they feel that urge I will satisfy it with whatever means, she must return the favor though, IMO oral sex works all the time."
After all that has been said, this is the paragraph I feel like replying to. You said she has to return the favor, as if you place conditions on what you'll do for her based on what you'll get in return.
Also, what if you're away on business for a week, and she uses the vibrator while she's thinking about you?
Just a couple of thoughts.
Personally, I'm not completely sure how I feel about everything concerning this, but there are some things I know. I know that for me, there is nothing more erotic than making love to someone you truly care about, and when you're in love with someone, they become the sexiest person in the world anyway.
That's what people should want. I also know that now I am older, I find hardcore pornography empty and unfullfilling (it always was, but I've learned to see through the illusion), but if I happen to be watching an erotic scene in a movie involving two people who are in love, it turns every part of me on, the important thing being my heart. It doesn't make me feel like having sex. It makes me feel like being in love, and there aren't many things more pure and fulfilling than that. In this respect, anything that makes you want to love a woman, rather than just have sex with one, is probably a good thing. That can different for different people.
In a relationship, it's all about sharing or giving, honesty, respect, and being to committed to each other. Most of the things discussed in this thread are just symptoms of the lack of one or more of those essential things.
Anyway, as I said, I don't have this all figured out. I just felt like adding something here :)

After all that has been said, this is the paragraph I feel like replying to. You said she has to return the favor, as if you place conditions on what you'll do for her based on what you'll get in return.
"Love" is more about giving than taking. If all a woman would do is take from you, lose her.
Also, what if you're away on business for a week, and she uses the vibrator while she's thinking about you?
I'd tell her to suppress her urges and let them build up. ;)

I argee with everything you have said. I am against hardcore porn, the meaningless crap.
Other than that, sensuality in movies is perfectly fine.

I don't disagree with that of course. I was reacting to the manner in which you said what you said. It seemed to me that what you'd get in return was at the forefront of your mind when talking about what you were willing to give.
If you mean that you'd never do something like that unless the goodwill was reciprocated on a case by case basis, then I'd take issue with it. If you mean that overall both people should give equally to a relationship, then of course I agree with you. Again, I just felt that the way you said it might have been reflective of a certain attitude you may or may not have had. If I'm wrong, then all is well :)
I'd tell her to suppress her urges and let them build up.
Do you feel that satisfying those urges while thinking about the very person you love (in thier absence) is wrong?
"I'd tell her to suppress her urges and let them build up."
Why? You have an intense desire to control your woman's sex, eh?
Hmmm, a debate between a man intimidated by his girl's vibrater and men with nothing better to do than to debate pr0n.
Thanks guys, I needed to be reminded of why humanity is doomed.

Never let the truth get in the way of a witty and humorous remark huh? It might have been funny, but it certainly wasn't intelligent.
Squid Vicious 09-29-02, 10:30 AM if you think a woman is thinking only of you when she's using her vibrator, Rav, you're in for a rather nasty surprise someday.
then again, perhaps it's best you never ask her that question.

I asked a hypothetical question to stimulate discussion on the topic. Why are you relating it directly to me? Have I done anything that warrants such a personal comment? Did I offend you?

Offend me? personally, no. how about you just take it as a hypothetical answer to your hypothetical question then.

Scene: Kirk is in the underground lair of a weird alien on the planet Vegetana.
Kirk: Is this good for you?
Weird Alien: Well, no actually. That's my armpit. You want the spot a little higher.
Kirk: You mean here? This furry thing?
Weird Alien (almost human except for rubber nose): Oh yes!
Kirk: Ow! Jesus H Christ! That's a fucking cactus plant. Oh fuck!
Weird Alien (with rubber nose and, as it turns out, a cactus for a clitoris): Oh yes, baby. Just there!
Kirk: Ow! Ow! Ow!
Weird Alien: Don't stop. take me all the way, big boy!
Kirk: How can I stop?! You've fucking speared my dick, you bitch! I'm stuck here.
Weird Alien: Yes! Yes! Yes!

No, I prefer HUMAN partners to aliens.:p
That dialogue you posted was funny, yet disturbing to say the least spookz. Perhaps you've watched one too many Star Trek episodes while on a drinking binge.:p
what about the video? i just needed an excuse to post it.
i wish i had an appendage like that
my bitch wishes i had one like that
oh and as a rule i never watch star trek drunk (i'm funny that way)
i do crack rock cocaine instead
demon420 01-27-08, 07:50 PM Porn is very nasty and disguesting and I think that it should only be used in sperm banks. Its degrading to women. Dont anybody have better time on there hands with that. i mean come on it hurts relationships and its very sick...What the hell for I mean come on..think about this Everytime you masterbate god kills a kitten..I mean people who watch it it is sick watching a mans dick go in and out of a women..get a life and get a girlfriend or boyfriend!!!!!!!!!!
demon420 01-27-08, 07:51 PM porn sucks!!!!!
demon420 01-27-08, 07:55 PM Good or bad? It really kind of depends on the production values...
I agree with you on the porn subject its very disguesting!!!
demon420 01-27-08, 07:57 PM Thankyou, Chosen!
I agree with you in sooooo many ways and levels
