Since sciforums came back online, there doesn't appear to be a "Quote" button anymore (where you could quote a previous message to work into your reply). Old messages appear to only have a "Report to moderator" and "Edit" buttons to work with. Am I missing something?

Where?? I can fake it (as above) by hand editting, but the old button made things a lot easier.

I mean the one that WAS in that area before SciForums went off line. The only thing that is down there now is a "Post reply" button at the end of the list of messages on the current page.

Are you saying that you still have a "Quote" button?!?

p.s. the "quote" in your message does not look like the quotes I'm used to seeing with the "Quote" button (note my example in a previous message).

ive never used the quote button in question.. i thought you were reffering to the one on the 'post reply' page.. under "color" next to "list". lol. i think its worked out now.

Ah. No. The one I'm referring to was under each message and could be used to automatically generate a reply with that particular message already quoted. Saved a lot of time and mouse action.

why the quote button has returned

the forums tends to make a bit more sense with that around

thank you

I always thought that judicious quoting helped people to understand exactly what point you were trying to make. Sometimes a forum thread can have so many subthreads going that it's hard to know what a reply is a reply to without the quote. However, the "Quote" button can often be overkill in that it quotes the whole message, so it's best to trim the results down so that the quote and reply really complement one another. That takes a little work, though, and some people just don't seem to take the time.

:D

p.s. I see that the "Quote" link on each message is back.
