I've started this thread to find out if anyone else here likes my favourite band of all time, RAMMSTEIN
I want to know what your favourite songs are, what your worst songs are, favourite album, favourite person, worst person, if you've seen them live and why you like them

Mine are:

Why you like them: They are completely unique soundwise. They're the only band who can give me an instant adrenaline rush and, well, they're great.

I've heard them mentioned here before- exactly what type of rock are they?

They are a German, supposedlly 'industrial' metal band with some techno, orchestrial hint to it. Anyway, they're great.

uhm...

They don't take their own group serious. They have an act with a giant dildo and milk. They use Nazi footage and symbols. They are a mockery of industrial music. They are not unique soundwise. Listen to Ministry and all other metal-industrial mergers.

I like the Lost Highway contribution.

Have you heard the beatles, the stones, the doors, pink floyd, ...? It is hard to understand how one could vote them best band ever.

i would say Rammstein is gothic metal.

First things first.
A - They do sound unique, Ministry sound remotely similar and if you actually sit down and listen to every single song like I have, you'd see the differences straight away. If Rammstein and Ministry sound alike, shouldn't I like both bands? I'm not to big on ministry, I only like their guitars.
B - Stripped is good, not a Rammstein original, but good
C - They do take themselves seriuosly. They are very into their music. The shows they put on are to entertain. I don't think in the slightest that they failed.
D - They don't use Nazi footage. They use historic footage. I believe that U2, NIN and many other famous bands did the same thing. They just include a few Nazi's here and there, so did Saving Private Ryan. Are you going to have a go at Steven Speilberg about that. One of their songs (Links 2,3,4) is about marching. Now, what did the German soldiers in WW2 do a lot of...you in the back there...marching, yes, thank you.
E - Yes, theres an E. I didn't even mention that they are the best band ever. Did anyone else. Its down to personal opinion. I hate the Beatles, The Doors and Pink Floyd. You sound excatly like someone I know, a certain Joseph R. He says the same things. I have a huntch that you and he are the same. Correct me if I'm wrong.
F - Du Hast is good. Have you heard the Techno Remix
G - God I'm passionate aboput Rammstein...can you tell?

I only use one name and never the one you mentioned.

Yes I would vote for them, but I didn't say that they are the best band on Earth. Rammstein wouldn't even get into the top ten best bands on Earth. In my personal opinion, I think that Ramms+ein are my favourite band of all time. Someone like the (crappy) beatles would get it, definatly not Ramms+ein. Its all this prejudice thats going around. Even you A4Ever showed some prejudice towards Ramms+ein.

i dont get this argument, you are arguing something completely pointless. Rammstein are certainly not the most popular band and i'm sure they are not the most original band out there. Most people wouldnt even know Rammstein - This is why the "'crappy beatles'" would be voted best band ever - not because they are predudice! We all have opinons on whos our favorite band, why cant we just leave it at that - although, i dont see it possible to have a favourite band ever because simply there are so many music varietys and bands that you cannot hear them all, in my opinion it would be closed minded to vote a band the best band ever.

Ho, and H...die Faust was never a song by Rammstein.

and I...like them not because of "Du Hast". At first I thought it was horribly scheiss but I wasn't one to judge by just one song, so I tried others and today I have all three of their albums (and many more).

But Thor, we are too much into this crazy band for them to understand all of this, aren't we?

whatever dude, it makes no difference to me. to be honest i will still be able to get a good nights sleep knowing that out there, there are people that follow blindly one band.

I detest most American music...not lively enough.

I like Megaherz. And we're not crazy for following one band. It shows our dedacation.

I just got the Resident Evil soundtrack today. I only got it for Rammstein: Halleluja. I've got it on my PC, I wanted it on CD and was willing to pay £12 for. Stupid ain't I. But its one of my fav songs.

What I like about Rammstein is that they don't mind doing some silly stuff to put on a good show, like silly costumes and all. A bit of effort to be entertaining. Good stuff.

What I like about Rammstein is that noone can force you to go to one of their gigs. :)

I recognize their high entertainment value.

appears to be....a....uh...less "homosexual" version of kiss....or perhaps a love child of kiss and alice cooper. all about the flary, explosive live show...to make up for the muzik.

im sorry....im trying to understand what ppl see in them, i really am....but someitmes my negativity gets the better of me....

Hey Avatar, I've been on the Herzeleid.com e-mail thingy for a while now, but at least someone else thinks its good.

Rammstein just really want to entertain people. I think they've pulled it off quite well. Having actually been to a concert of theirs, I can say that they have to put up with a lot. I was near the front, and when they pulled out the pyrotecniks out, I was sweating in less than 10secs. It was boiling. Even after moving back to the middle, the heat was amazing. Plus there was all the skin heads for Raging Speedhorn there that hated Rammstein just because they were German. They threw bottles (plastic, still hurts though), food, anything they could get there hands on.

I think that Rammstein has got quite an unique sound. Not like other bands like Megaherz who sound similar but have a sort of rap thing going. Yak.

Who says I only follow one band blindly, I follow many bands with my eyes wide open (half closed if I get hit in the face for wearing one of there T-Shirts, that happens sometimes)

Just to chime in that Rammstein is my favorite rock band next to Guns 'n Roses. However, I'm also a big fan of Pink Floyd.

I like Rammstein's crispness and fullness of sound and yet a certain musical subtlety at the same time. It's unique; I've not heard anything in that class that could match them. Very tight stuff, slightly techno, and bloody gory gothic as hell. ;)

Though not being a German speaker I'm not able to benefit from the actual verse. Perhaps so much the better, as I've been told by a German friend that most of the Rammstein songs are either moronic in content or just blinkin' perverse to a fault. I don't mind; I listen for the music. :)

They have managed to blend at least three types of music (Metal, Tekno and Orchestrial + others) and pulled it off rather well.

anyway, even webmasters are not all too obsessed over the band. in fact, there are times we don't even listen to their music for more than a month. I like Lacrimosa (gothic) and Die Toten Hosen (punk) as well, so we all try to look for balance.

i am a long time fan of Rammstein as well. Herzeleid is my favorite album of theirs.

also, i should say how it always makes me laugh when a person starts a subject on a band they like, and somebody else comes in and ridicules the person for his taste in music. i understand if you dislike the band, but to debate about whether or not one should enjoy listening to a the band in question, or to blatantly show hatred for the band and disgust for the person for being a fan of the band is ridiculous. it's musical taste, not political theory. get over it.

I say my fav albulm is Mutter as it has my favourite songs in it (Links + Zwitter) but Herzeleid comes a close second (Heirate Mich + Leichzeit + Der Meister)

I dont like the english versions of Du hast, or Engel, they are the only ones I dont like.

Has anyone else translated the lyrics to their songs ever? they mean absolutely nothing....nothing at all...it is just nonsense. Normally a good band has lyrics that mean something. Just my two cents--feel free to hate on this statement.

Yes, people have translated the lyrics and maybe you have to look deeper into the literal meaning of the words and see it for yourself contextually. Kind of like wanting to believe if the world was created in six days or not.

The people that say that we "follow rammstein blindly" only say that because they cant say that they are secure enough to know how to be themselves and listen to the kinda music that THEY like not that the "in"crowd likes. Tha goes to show that they suck and should die. Ramms+ien's sound is unique because how many bands have you heard play stuff like Furue Frei and Halleuja. Both of which are excellent songs. Another favorite include Du Hast. Another thinkg that makes insecure people say crap about Ramms+ein is that they listen to music liek rap and that kinda crap. To sum all of that up, get some music worth listening too. :mad:

In that order. I memorized the entire lyrics to Mein Herz Brennt in german. Quite a feet since I have no idea about german. I also read through the lyrics on herzeleid and I don't think they're meaningless. Maybe you just don't have the ability to read into the song. It's like poetry, it doesn't just come out and say something most of the time, you read into it and come away with your own perceptions.

May I propose something to this list?

I think the reason that Ramstein are so beloved by English speakers is that their lyrics can mean anything as sometimes the harshness of the language encapsulates rage and violence. So while English speaking bands need to either obscure their words or think up some nasty ones, German speaking bands can pick seemingly random words which fit the music.

So how many people on this list speak german, and is the following in Germany the same type of people as in the UK and the US? (Btw I’m not slagging off the German language)

I enjoy them. Yes, it's pretty nonsensical in German (one, two, three, here comes the sun?) but the Pixies are nonsensical in English. It's not so bad.

German can be harsh, but also very soft. It's very versatile.

P.S:
I believe "Das Modell" to be a cover of a Kraftwerk song.

Rammstein are by far my favourite band. Their uniqueness lies not so much in their music but in their lyrics, which can be cryptic and meaningfull, and are much better in german, than in the cheesy english remakes.

I went to see them live at the palace melbourne in 2001 and it was by far the best live performance i have ever seen. I even flew to Japan to watch their performance there. They are very passionate about their music, Oliver Riedel is my favourite, and my least favourite, as most peoples is Flake.

Avatar......Try downloading some other Led Zep songs perhaps one of the others will catch your ear. There are some that I don't like that they did also. Just because one song you think sucks doesn't mean they all do. Thanks anyway for at least listening to the song.
