Just because I am angry:

does it bother anyone else when people talk about "knowing" exactly what Bob Marley is saying in his music and his thoughts about life when they dont smoke?

Maybe its just me, but how could they truly see his religious beliefs with out first hand knowledge? Its like saying you understand Buddhism when you live in a three story house... get the picture?

Anyway, does this situation and other similiar situations bother anyone else or are you just peachy about life?

If they actually know what they're talking about, no prob. I hate people that talk about things like they know something, but really don't. I'm smart enough to know what topics i know about, and which i don't. The ones i dont know about, i dont go around talking about.

Being the huge Marley fan that I am, I still have to disagree. His words were so powerful that you didnt HAVE to be high or under the influence of any drugs to understand what he was trying to say. Hendrix, Morrison, Pink Floyd - now those are a different story. I am much more appreciative of their music when Im stoned out of my mind. But Marley is different. Marley is universal.

:m: MARLEY IS GOD!:m:

The way i look at it, even ifyou don't understand their message, you can still appreciate their music. I've been listening to Pink Floyd since i was a little kid, i didn't get it then, and i don't try to get it now. Sometimes i just wanna listen and not really absorb anything. I listen to too much political/social music anyway. :p

Rastafarianism is another thing all together, I like certain aspects of their culture that embrace things other religions/cults (or insert your label here > <) don't accept. It's unique in that aspect that you may be rasta & not know. Proclamation of your faith is not a pre-requisite to "membership" it's a journey of the heart that leads you to realisation that you are, indeed a rasta by the way you are. Unlike other religions where your faith saves you rastas think you are "saved" because you are a rasta. In it all are accepted but few heed the call. It's a melting pot, (smoking pot?) it dosen't belong to smokers only.:m:
