do you remember Rubik's Cube?
at first glance it is an oddity
strange
different

some people couldn't be bothered with it at all
they didn't have time for such foolishness

some people played with it for a while
sometimes they figured out one side
sometimes two
or even three
that was enough for them

for others
it becomes a curiosity
it becomes interesting
it becomes something that you can't put down
intriguing
something that can absorb you for hours on end
almost an obsession

some people tried in earnest to figure out the solution
they got so frustrated and angry
threw it across the room
let the pieces scatter
and forgot about it

some people would cheat
they would remove the stickers
put them back in the right places
they felt like they accomplished something
they got over
they were done

some people took it apart
they disassembled the pieces
and put them back together right
then stuffed it in a box in the closet somewhere

some people kept at it until they had it all figured out
they kept at it
they had the patience to focus on it
they would keep at it
sometimes putting it down and coming back to it another time
sometimes they would get angry enough to take it apart
put it back together complete
but then they would start again
they didn't give up
they kept at it until they succeeded
after they did solve it
the result was the same
once you solve the puzzle it is no longer a puzzle

no matter which approach was taken the result was the same
it was always the same
the novelty wore off

it ended up in a box, or in the trash
most people walked away from it with fond memories
they think about it now and laugh
they think that it was fun
it was interesting
but they don't bother with it anymore
once the novelty wore off so did their interest
ALWAYS
no matter who the person was
if they wanted nothing to do with it from the beginning
if it kept their interest for a while, then bored them
if they tried to take shortcuts to a false sense of satisfaction
if they were endlessly obsessed and didn't put it down until they solved it
the end result never changed
they walked away from it bored
done with it
the novelty wore off
it was a temporary distraction

have you ever felt like a Rubik's Cube?

Yeh , gotta find new puzzles to keep life entertaining, No wonder Stephen Hawkings has no less than the secrets of the universe as his personal Hyperdimensional Rubik Cube. Given his limited physical abillities, this is the ONE puzzle that can keep him busy till the lights go out.

I can solve the Rubik's Cube in 53 seconds average with a best time of 34 seconds... WEEEE!!!!

It gives me a mental rush when I am really focused on it.

Used to work with a guy who was Dr. Rubik's nephew. He taught me how. Smash it. The 'Rubik's Snake' is a bee-atch to put back together.

What method did he teach you?

Hehe.. Smash it..

The easiest way to solve the cube is to remove all the stickers... every side is solved... black.

Apparently you are right about the stickers. Tom said the stickers were affixed in the factory similar to an 'Avery label' sheet. Stick it on a side in one go and peel, repeat 6 times & voila.. very quick.

You can't do this too many times or people get suspicious. We named this the 'thick' method. We were bored... what can I say.

after many years of struggle, i figured out how to dissasemble the thing and put it back together. if you take off the stickers you run the risk of it looking like you did so.
