View Full Version : Searcher no more

This is a message to the members of this forum who previously knew me as Searcher. I have been "reborn" as "Emerald". There are many reasons for this change, but only 2 that I wish to mention here:

1) I am no longer searching for my path to "The One", as I have found it.

2) I am "Emerald" on other message boards, and wish to be recognizable to my fellow Pagans from those other boards whenever they visit here (not to mention that I feel a bit like a multiple personality by having more than one identity on the Internet :) ).

But I'm still me, and yes - I still love searching for information on the Internet!! :D

Blessings,

Emerald

Oh yeah, well then if your Searcher, then why do you live in Northern California?

Emerald

Infinity,

I've lived in Northern California for most of my adult life, the greater Sacramento area to be more precise. Where did you think I was from? Or do you think Northern California is an odd location for a "Searcher" type? Actually, it's quite appropriate. :)

Where are you from, Infinity, if you don't mind sharing?

Blessings,

Emerald

I'm also from California. I lived in Yore Belinda, Placentia and Buena Park. I went to school in Anaheim, which was right next to Buena Park. My Grand Parents lived in Placentia. My other Grand parents live in San Diego. My Aunt lives in Hollywood and my uncle lives in LA. They are all right next to each other, and look very identical, so you can't really tell where you are, unless your in LA, then you would know. And I've been to Sacramento. One of my cousins lives there.

Ah, nice weather you have in Southern California. Too crowded for my taste, but then, Sacramento's getting to be that way too. Actually, I'd live much further north in California if I could take my job with me! It's much prettier there, lot's of beautiful trees (I'm such a sucker for trees :) ).

I've only been to Anaheim and Hollywood a few times in my life. It's been years since I've been there, and then it was only as a tourist, so I can't say as I know much about the place.

Blessings,

Hi Emerald!!

I noticed your name change on another thread, and just found this thread today. Been lurking here, spending most of my time elsewhere. :-)

I (of course) totally dig "Emerald" - what a perfect name for you!

Infinity,

(??) I assure you, Searcher & Emerald are one and the same. Met her face to face, I have! (soudnin' like Yoda here). I grew up in S. Cali myself - Long Beach mostly. Also spent about a decade in Sacramento area where Emerald is, and am gonna be moving back soon-ish. Terrible weather, but decent house prices, sigh. S. Cali has nice weather, but I mostly miss the beaches. N. Cali beaches are too cold and rocky for the most part, I miss the long sandy beaches of my childhood. Sigh.

San Jose here. Heart of Silicon Valley, we don't care WHAT Sunnyvale says! They do their manufacturing there, but the payroll departments are all HERE! :) San Jose native, lived in Santa Cruz, Lompico, and Arizona. (Oh yeah, and I lived in Orlando Florida for a couple of weeks, but that was a whole 'nuther story.) I always wondered how many Californians were on this board, native or otherwise.

LOL, see, I'm tellin' ya, we SHOULD all get together for a brewski!

Though, I pity the restaurant we all end up at - think we'd get into a food fight? :D

Heathen lives here in Cali too - he hasn't been posting 'cause he's in school, but I'm sure he'll be back eventually. He can't pass up a good argument. :)

As long as we're on the subject of beer, I'll put my vote in for the following:

* Guinness (Ireland)
* Caffrey's Ale (Ireland)
* Abbot Ale (UK)
* Red Hook: ESB/IPA/BlackHook (Seattle)
* Deschutes Black Butte Porter (Oregon)
* Fat Tire Ale (Colorado)

I'm specific and local, to be sure; when you live only blocks away from the Red Hook Brewery, there's almost no excuse for drinking anything else. But unless your craft and micro-brewers are charging three times as much as a minimum, there's no excuse for drinking Miller, A-B, or any other industrial beer. (Note: if you go to Germany and buy Budweiser, you'll get better beer than if you go to New York and buy Budweiser. Why? It's against the law in Germany to call American Budweiser "beer".)

Anyone remember Monty Python at Hollywood Bowl?

Quick, why is American beer like having sex in a canoe? ;)

thanx,
Tiassa :cool:

Goshy, I continue the digressions and never once say "Congrats" on the resolution ... I'd say something tacky like "Never stop searching" or some-such, but you're always a step ahead of me on the tasteful end of such things. ;)

Thanks, Tiassa!

As for your riddle, I don't really know the answer. But I did find this saying at the following website:

Reading University Canoe Club

Definition of a Canadian: Somebody who knows how to make love in a canoe.

Hey Oxygen - are you a shorty too? Sounds like we'd be well-matched in a barstool scaling contest, eh? The loser buys the winner a Newcastle - whaddya say? ;)

And the envelope please ....

.... "Because it's f***ing close to water." :p

(it's from the sketch "Bruces"; You know, Immanuel Kant was a real pissant who was very rarely able. Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could drink you under the table ....)

thanx,

:) Ok Lets get back to the beer thing for s second!

If you want good beer you can't beat the New Zealand (KIWI) stuff.

If you can try Steinlager, Export Gold, any of the Macs ales (I don't know if we export that) or any other beer that comes from the land of the long white cloud.

God Defend New Zealand!
(Before you take a jab at that :), it's the title of our national anthem!)

Dexter,

Um, I wasn't going to mention it, but I had noticed the same thing myself. The invalid webpage address is a bad sign. Hopefully it's just a coincidence. It looks like Loone might actually have something to say eventually. He/she is probably just warming up to it - give him/her a chance.

Well, right now, I'm drunk, so I don't want to try and reply to any posts at the moment. I'm drunk off of Captain Morgan's spiced rum (a Puerto Rican alcohol, 70 proof). I'm drinking it straight, and chasing it with that Chek cream soda crap. I guess I'm just posting that here because some of you are talking about what I refer to as piss water (i.e. beer), and I might as well tell you where I live. In the deep south (yes, I'm a freaking hick, if you make fun of that I will kill you, some how). Anyway, I will be home in around 2-3 days, and I'll be posting more. See ya later.

*drinks another shot of Captain Morgan's spiced rum*

Damn, this stuff is nastier than Vodka.
