I love the occasional sublime messages in the Simpsons series.

Recently I watched an episode from I think last years season where Homer was a missionary on an Island in polynesia. It involved him licking toads and Marge calling on the radio -insert psychedelic effects- "Hello, Is there anybody out there, Hello, Is there anybody IN there?".

This Pink Floyd spoof made me laugh quite hard, and it was quite unexpected aswell.

Ever notice how the writers of the Simpsons series seem to be into psychedelics?

There's organic hippie juice made from peyote, there's acid laced water at fun parks and there are toads that secrete halucinogenic toxins...

Anybody else see the pattern here?

The best one has to be the Insanity Pepper. "Kook ook a choo" "ha HA! ha HA!" "I think I bramaged my dain."

It even worked in the coyote trickster spirit from native American tradition. And used it in the proper context too. Notice how in the end Homer discovered that Marge was his soul mate all along?

I like the episode when Homer gets medical Marijuana. Ti shows stuff from his perspective and it is more pshychedelic than marijuana-like.

I see thinks from music in the Simpsons all the time. I sure I don't even recognise it half the time.

the cartoon style of the simpsons means that pshycaldelic type effects look pretty funky.
it proabably wouldnt be a average boring reason like that anyways, but just a suggestion.

To the kids before they head to Kamp Krusty re: poison ivy ...

Marge: "Remember: Leaves of 3, leave them be."
Homer: "Leaves of 4, eat some more..."

It even worked in the coyote trickster spirit from native American tradition.
Not to mention that the coyote was played by none other than the late great Johnny Cash, which is quite fitting.

I don't get it. What is wrong with frogs? They ain't lollipops...

I don't think the Simpsons is just that. That is a very tiny bit compared to all the rest...!
