It is difficult for nerds, geeks and dorks (NGD) to get laid in the best of times. Unfortunately they have to compete with macho jerkoffs for the interests of the ladies. Obviously NGDs cannot win this battle.

Therefore they turned there attention to Science. Since Science is constantly outsmarted by nature the NGD scientists took a close look at how Nature solved the problems of NGDs getting laid.

In communities of the cichlid fish Astatotilapia burtoni the macho gets the ladies and the meek just sit and watch (if they are lucky). However when the macho is removed from the community the meek loser fish quickly is transformed into macho himself. And finally he can have sex.

Researchers studied the brain and noticed that a meek fish quickly upregulates the gene egr-1 in the brain. This leads to his transformation into as succesful macho.

Rumours have it that a drug is in the making that can raise egr-1 levels in the brains of nerds, geeks and dorks.

We congratulate the NGDs with there initiative but would like to remind them that the easiest solution would be to remove the Machos out of their local community and let mother nature do what it does best.

Here's what you fail to realize. Macho Men dominate the dating scene all the way up to the college level. But in the end, Nerds, yes Nerds, Geeks, and Dorks, end up with the best Women. Once Women approach 30, and their bodies start to erode, they seek security. Nerds allways end up with better jobs in the end. Once a woman matures, she prefers $$$$$ over macho. Not all women are like this. But all the hot ones you want are. Believe it.

As a girl, I would just like to say that I do not find the jock/jerkoff attractive at all, Geekyness is cute, and the only reason I've never slept with a geek/nerd/dork is because I've never been asked out by one. I agree with mistermistoffolees.
Due to the fact that humans typically operate by intellect, I think the male human equivilant is "self confidence" as opposed to being a 'jock' (dominant physically strong alpha male breeder). It's the one thing the 'jocks' have that the more socially handycapped NGD's don't. A self confident person that does nerdy thing (like by brother who is a computer programmer/girl magnet) has as much success as a jock.
I wonder if that means that most NGD's suffer from some form of autism?

See, that is the problem at hand. The research talks actually about 'meek' fish and doesn't use the terms nerd, geek and dork.

If you do not ask anyone out, or approach anyone you are definitely not going anywhere in terms of evolutionary succes.

The previous post outlines this. You can be a computer geek with social skills and still be succesful.

I guess I just don't get it!? If a nerd, geek or dork wants to get laid (or go out on a date), why doesn't he just ask the girl? The worst she can do is say "no", right? So what? Is it the first time that a nerd, geek or dork has ever had anyone say "no" to him? Is "no" different to a nerd, geek or dork than it is to the rest of us?

On one hand, the geek may get rejected, which always sucks (unless you don't care that much, which can be a huge advantage).

On the other hand, if he's not rejected, he's going to have to deal with the chagrin knowing that his social ineptness will inevitably reveal itself.
