View Full Version : Where is the real danger to the children?

Crude and vulgar, but well-researched and to te point:
For the record - I am not "Misanthropic Bitch", although I share quite a few of her sentiments.
No sorry just WRONG! Most people who have child porn may not be the ones who created, I don't know. The fact of the matter is that children were harmed in the creation it, and should not be allowed. You can't say don't do it yet have it legal. Just think about the poor kid who had to be subject to this. Then the kid grows knowing full well that his/her picture is still out there becuase it is leagal. Just plain screwed up and yet another desperate ploy to avoid the issue at hand.
My life could have been black and white, but I had to color it.
To compare child pornography, where a child is made to do things that his or her mind and body is simply NOT ready for, with a hate crime, where one's personal opinion is given physical vent, is as far off-base as comparing knifing a pregnant mother until the fetus drops out to telling someone to "shut up".
My bet is that the author of this proposal was caught with child pornography and is trying desperately to justify it.
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will fight, kill, and die for your right to say it.

If you read the rest of Misanthropic Bitch's web site (her real name is Carlene, by the way - http://bitch.shutdown.com/toot.html), you will see many statements just as outrageous as "child pornography should be legal". For example, her column about NYC policemen killing Amando Diallo starts with this criticism: "They shot 42 round at the guy at point-blank range and only hit him 17 times? That's pathetic." She loves to shock. But if you swallow your bile and read the rest of her columns (she has many by now) carefully, there is usually a good point. As far as I see, this one has two:
a) Pedophiles are basically incurable. If someone's sexual desire is stimulated by pre-pubescent children, isn't it better that he whacks off to a computer-generated cartoon, rather than use some real children, such as mine? [Note - I have two girls of my own; Misanthropic Bitch made it very clear she doesn't like children, doesn't want children, and has no intention of ever bearing any.] Under existing laws, possession of such a cartoon is no different from possession of pictures of actual children being abused.
b) Most sexually abused children are abused by their family members. That's a well-known fact. Yet society's collective wrath is aimed at "predators" ("Never talk to strangers!"). "Daddy schtupping Brianna", in MB's charming phrasing, IS indeed far more likely to get off lightly than some Ted Bundy lookalike. This is just one example of a very prevalent trend in American society - ignoring widespread but low-profile dangers while spending inordinate attention on rare but spectacular ones. More people die every day in car accidents than in airplane crashes in a year - yet fear of flying is far more prevalent than fear of driving. I have always been extremely annoyed by this kind of attitude, but before I waste my work day on a rant, I will just point to a book on the subject - "The Culture of Fear: Why Americans Are Afraid of the Wrong Things" by Barry Glassner.
It is rather simple when you look at it. I-T I-S W-R-O-N-G-! Jumpping Juesus Christ on a pogo stick what is so hard about this?
If pedophiles can't be cured and can't controll thier yearnings remove them from society. You don't need to kill them just put them away in an insitution. That is ware people who can't function in society belong. Why can't you see that? Once we have a victim we need to look for justice for the victim then look at how we can keep from making them a victim again. Freely distribting and profiting from a victim's plight is only going to make things worse. Not to mention make it seem like nothing is wrong with what happened and make what happened legal by defult. More so, we need to make it dam clear that this sort of acts are not tolerated! When you have a person is so messed up in the head that looking at a child turns them on it wont be long before wacking off with these pictures is not enough, and there are plenty of people out there that have attack children and gueess what? Gasp shock horror, they wernt the partents of the child. People who sexually abuse children that are not thiers tend to abuse a hell of a lot more children than thier own.
As an added note this artical didn't just try to legitimize cartoons we are talking about accual pictures. Would you mind if I went back in time sexualy abused you and took pictures. After that sold them for money. ASk yourself would you care????? Or better yet pretend I have pictures of your duaghters and you only found out becuase i sold them. Would it matter then???????
All I know is what I understand. All I understand is what I know. :)

I agree, that would be the best solution. Unfortunately, putting people in mental institutions against their will is not politically correct in the US. A person can not be involuntarily confined unless he actually hurts or tries to hurt someone.
Depressing topic, and now I am depressed. :(
Well it sure sounds like hurting someone. It should be rather easy to makes a case to send thses people to a instituion. There is Plenty of case history to do it. The law states that not only do we have to wait for them to hurt themself or somebody eles, but if there is a clear and present danger of them doing it do to a mental health issue. So there is no reason to not do it. The only problem I could see that the goverment would have with this is public opion. To that all I have to say is that people need to wake up to reality. Thses peds will commit a crime against a child and they can not reform. I hope you didn't take what I said as a personal attack. From my angle it seemed as if you were defending this drible the MB published to shock people so she could make money with out regard to the lives that could be destroyed further if this were made law.
All I know is what I understand. All I understand is what I know. :)

No offense taken since I agree with you. And yes, public opinion (i.e. political correctness) WOULD be a problem, as well as lawyers.
What I like about MB is her ability to expose hypocrisy and sanctimony in American society, both left-wing and right-wing variety. In a very shocking manner, but that makes people think, doesn't it?

I WAS sexually abused - at the age of 14, by my stepfather. Don't know if it qualified him as a pedophile - at 14 I did not look like a child, - but it certainly qualified him as a rapist. At the time I told no one - didn't know to whom to turn. For the next three years made sure never to be alone with him. He tried to get to me again when I was 17, and I dislocated his shoulder. I never took any shit from anyone since. I am married now, to a man very different from my stepfather, and we have our own ideas on how to raise young ladies. Which include firearms, karate and scuba diving as well as music and dance lessons. Learn to take care of yourself, because sooner or later there won't be anyone else to do so!
BTW, scuba diving is great fun, but if you do it wrong and are not paying attention, it CAN kill you. Everyone knows "teenagers think they are immortal", but I think it is only true because our society is so protective of children, they have no chance to confront their own mortality. Historically, this was never true. Aside from the fact that before modern medicine most children did not live that long, up until last 50 years or so every 16 year old had seen death stare at his face at least once. Maybe he was chased by a bull. Maybe he was gathering wood in the forest and got treed by wolves. Maybe he was playing on the ice and the ice broke. One way or another, early on you got brutal lessons in taking care of yourself. That is no longer true. I firmly believe that children should be demonstrated, in a controlled environment, how to take their life in their own hands. Scuba diving is perfect. The chances of actually dying are just about zero - instructors are VERY good at what they do, - but if you do not pay attention, you WILL get a scare that will last all your life. And once you do things right, pass your tests and "earn your fins", you have a pride in having accomplished something - another thing often lacking in today's young lives. Not to mention that diving is a totally unbelievable experience.
