Alright, I have downloaded a program, and now when I try to open it it asks what I want to open it with. Do I need to download some program to open these type of files?

I want to edit mp3 and wav files. I might use it for midi, but not till later. So I downloaded Sound Forge, Acid, and Adobe Audition from Supernova.org, but I can't open of install them. When I try to it asks what I would like to open them with. I have tried everything. Is there something that I have to download from supernova? This is the first time that I have used it.

do you want to work in wave form or what? becuase both of those programs the wave form editing really sucks. it is actually only a projected idea of what it might look like. if you want something that is pretty good in wave form you should look at getting goldwave (www.goldwave.com) , its free and it is pretty goood.

Sony bought Sound Forge from Sonic Foundry. It is still called Sound Forge.

Adobe bought Cool Edit Pro from Syntrillium and renamed it Audition.

what you have download is proberly a torrrent file, you need Bit Torrent or one of its many child programs, to download the real files

Krazie

I have downloaded bitorrent from bitconjurer.org ,now when I try to open it, I get the message: "To use Bit Torrent, find a web site which uses it, and click on the appropriate links." Where do I find these links on the Supernova.net site? I can't figure it out.

you don't open bittorent, you open the torrent file and the program launches all by itself
as for your inability to find links to .torrent files on suprnova.org .....
you need treatment

open them with your bittorrent client: the program you downloaded.

WinRAR!!!!

You need WinRAR to open just about any torrent file you download.
You should be able to find WinRAR in one of those torrent sites.
I have it, so if you know how I can send it to you, IM me.

Pardon, I thought you were well acquainted with these things.
http://bittornado.com/ download program, install. when you launch it, it asks you for the file you wish to download. The torrent file you got from a torrent site is merely something you use to download the entire program, it is not the program itself.

Alright, I have downloaded bittornado, and I have installed it. Now I am trying to launch it. Do I launch it by double clicking the icon of bittornado that is now on my desktop? Because when I do that it asks me to install it again. It says something like: Where would you like to Bittornado.
I was under the impresion that to launch a program, you double click the icon of the program. What am I doing wrong. And thanks for the help whitewolf and others that have not tried to make me feel stupid, and are actually trying to help me.

Krazie your not clicking the install file again are you ? :)

try "start -> programs -> Bit Tornado....."

it should be rather simple

1. open bit torrent client
2. download torrent file(by the way, you proberly have to signup at supernova.org to get the correct file)
3. in your bittorrent client do something like "file -> Open Torrent"
4 select your newly DL torrent file
5 select where to save
6 press start if it does not autostart
7 repeart if you have more then 1 torrent
8 think to self, how hard can it be

Kunax, how do I properly sign up to supernova.org?

You don't need to sign up. If you're getting a signup page then you're on a scammer's site. It's www.suprnova.org.

As to using bit-tornado. You don't open up bit-tornado. You double click the downloaded torrent file which automatically opens up a bit-tornado window.

i prefer http://azureus.sourceforge.net/

You go: start->bittornado. Automatically, a box pops up asking: Choose .torrent file to use. you browse your folders, pick the torrent file you got from the site, click open, pick where to save. Starts automatically.

what Nexus says is good :), And Azureus is good(I use the linux variant), i like a single app. to hold my torrents, instead of spawning a zillion version of the same app.

Yeah. It does get annoying having a million download windows open. I'll have to give azureus is a try.

Not to mentions that having a single program also improves the chance of people seed for a longer time, since the program also controls there seeds :).
Excelent for me, sitting on a huge connection, behind a FW i dont have control over :)

Of course they are.
My films come packed in RAR files that I have to decompress inorder to get a single movie.

"I get everything from www.download.com. I recommend it more than any other downloads site, they have everything."
Why on earth?
Download.com sucks!!!!
Most of their software are trial versions.
You need a true filesharing client to get most pireted full working versions for free.
