spuriousmonkey 08-02-04, 01:18 AM and ENGLISH

fahrenheit 451 08-02-04, 04:16 AM as truthseeker say's just write it, if we cant speak the language.
we all have access, to the altavista's babel fish tranlator, or something simular.
spuriousmonkey 08-02-04, 04:19 AM I also speak the language of love, but not so good.
fahrenheit 451 08-02-04, 04:34 AM I speak that too, but you cant translate that on the babel fish, sorry.
vslayer 08-02-04, 04:38 AM I also speak the language of love, but not so good.

spuriousmonkey 08-02-04, 04:44 AM lol, i think the language of desperate would suit you better :D
I believe you are right.
And women can sense it.
I also speak the language of love, but not so good.
Heh, and I also speak the language of flowers.
spuriousmonkey 08-02-04, 12:08 PM I don't speak that one. It seems so complicated.
In texas everyone speaks a little spanish here but i cannot spell since i am learning it daily be hearing it as opposed to reading it. My japanse sucks today cause I can never practice except when i go to a sushi restaurant in which case it is the same phrases over and over. I cannot write it at all...well a few words but i cannot type them here...i have an english keyboard.
german ok and texas has a large german population that imigrated here but the slang is so strong that i cannot understand them at times espcially in new braunsfels texas.
Closet Philosopher 08-06-04, 04:12 PM I speak French. Qui parle le Francais ici?
Enigma'07 08-06-04, 04:17 PM Salve Storni, I've just begun to learn it.
hypewaders 08-06-04, 04:41 PM I included little languages... If you speak another language that is not here, please write it very BIG for everyone to see...
česky!
Closet Philosopher 08-06-04, 05:02 PM I know the prefix "über" in German. I want to learn German. I might take a course in it when I go to University.
TruthSeeker 08-06-04, 10:13 PM cesky? From where is that?
Who else speak portuguese?
Looks like spanish is winning... :p
hypewaders 08-06-04, 10:29 PM "česky? From where is that?

TruthSeeker 08-06-04, 10:35 PM
Duuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh...!
I can't believe. I'm so dumb... :p
I don't speak that one. It seems so complicated.
It is not complicated. Look, listen, and learn:
A ROSE IS A ROSE IS A ROSE.
curioucity 08-07-04, 02:58 PM Actually, even though I choose Malay, Indonesian, my MT isn't that similar to malay, but hell, no other choice anyway:)
TruthSeeker 08-08-04, 08:20 PM Who here speak danish? I would love to learn a bit of it.... :)

rGEMINI 08-13-04, 03:21 AM I speak ENGLISH w00t and japanese. -watashi wa nihongo ga wakarimasu-(I atleast understand Japanese) I do find it funny how many peeps have posted in english and im the only one who can speak it according to the polls. =P LOL Alright i know why you didn't vote for english but... You have to admit it's looks a little odd... ^^
Who here speak danish? I would love to learn a bit of it.... :)
I speak Norweigan which means I can understand danish :) but I know there is at least 1 dane on these boards.
p.s. hva benzin prisen i Norge p.t. ca.
TruthSeeker 08-14-04, 09:31 PM Kunax,
I didn't read my entire thread... :D
I have no idea who speaks danish... :/
path,
And who is he/she? (who speaks danish)...
How does Norweigan sound? Is it hard?
oh i thougth you would follow your own thread :), anyway i heard that the 3 Scandinavian languages(Normeigan, Danish, Swedish) is very simular.
Apparently they have so much incommen that the people can undersatnd each cross boarders, althou slang and accent can proberly make it hard at times.
I know i have a hard time understanding people that enjoy talking in with a heavy west Jutlandish accent (Jutland, reagion of my country)
p.s. hva benzin prisen i Norge p.t. ca.
pike=pige
ut=ud
Athelwulf 08-24-04, 12:10 AM Spanish is in the lead, with German and French in second and third respectively.
Putonghua xi gue da ... en el mundo.
Athelwulf 08-24-04, 01:40 AM Was? Sprich Deutsch, por favor.
hva, så tal dog venligst Dansk i små rejelorte
StarOfEight 08-24-04, 10:06 AM I speak Norweigan which means I can understand danish :) but I know there is at least 1 dane on these boards.
How similar is Norwegian to German?
Dreamwalker 08-24-04, 10:09 AM Not very similar in my opinion. Only some words resemble each other...
No : Benzin priser ligger rundt 9,70 pr. ltr nå
Eng : the petrol price is about 9.70 ltr now
Dk : Benzin prisen ligger omkring 9.70 pr. ltr nu
note: pr short for per, removed from eng and de. It means "for 1", eg "the price for 1 liter"
Dreamwalker 08-24-04, 10:43 AM Treibstoffpreis? Better use "Benzinpreis"
Der Benzinpreis liegt jetzt bei ungefähr 9,7 (what? Danish krowns? Euros?) pro Liter.
sry it was take out of context, from something path said higher up in the thread.
9.70 was Nkr the price is under 9 Dkr here in DK but i have not looked this week :)
Dreamwalker 08-24-04, 10:50 AM Hmm, ok. We have a price of about 1.16 Euros per litre. ;)
"jetzt bei" = now on?, bei ?
Dreamwalker 08-24-04, 10:57 AM Well, "bei" could be translated as "at" in this case, resulting in "now at..."
The fuel price is now located at 9.7 whatever....
on, at, who cares samething :)
:( here the price is 8.94 Dkr = 1.2 Euro (ref:shell, statoil)
Blue_UK 08-24-04, 02:05 PM whatabout SQL, PHP, BASIC, VB.....?
Choosé * a table de monde ou clue > 0
Desole, pas de rows
So my french AND my sql is crap.
Dreamwalker 08-24-04, 02:10 PM I do not think that languages like BASIC are a common platform for communication, at least for the non-nerdy part of the population.
I do not think that languages like BASIC are a common platform for communication, at least for the non-nerdy part of the population.
A you mean a higher language is required?

And I hope "Dreamwanker" is only a typo...
Also, I do not think that "Bite Me" is a nice answer, even if you write it in runes. :D
heh, oh yea Dreamwanker was a typo, honest :), I will not write DreamWanker again after this post.. DreamWa..... :)
anyway, i just type something, There was Futurama in the TV so, well Bender rocks(bite my shiny metal ass) :)
ROFL you cannot post post with more then 3 smilies
Dreamwalker 08-24-04, 03:34 PM Oh, so I can insert more than three pictures, but not more than three smilies? Damn, I always thought that the phrase resulting from too many emoticons also counts for too many pictures in brackets...
When I think about it, I had proof about this in my last post...
Ok, I have merged my multiple post into one now, much better.

Athelwulf 08-26-04, 12:26 AM Are we gonna speak JavaScript in our next lifetime? Or is JavaScript becoming the unofficially superofficial language of SciForums?
Athelwulf 08-26-04, 12:27 AM Hey, the poll doesn't say who speaks German, so . . .
WER SPRICHT DEUTSCH??!!!
es gibt keine deutschsprechende Leute hier
spuriousmonkey 08-26-04, 03:23 AM wo ist mein fahrad?
Athelwulf 08-26-04, 03:29 AM Dein Fahrrad ist in mein Badezimmer!
spuriousmonkey 08-26-04, 03:33 AM Dein Fahrrad ist in mein Badezimmer!
DU HASST ES GEKLAUT???!!!???? DU DUUuuuuu!!!!!!
ich werde noch einmal verruckt hier. Scheiss forum.
Athelwulf 08-26-04, 04:34 AM Oh, my first sentence looks so weird. I know (I think . . .) that I'm using "der" right, but it makes my girlfriend look like a guy . . .
Dreamwalker 08-26-04, 04:35 AM Well, I do not understand what you want to say exactly, but I would suggest you use "die" instead of "der".
Athelwulf 08-26-04, 04:39 AM Ach, I knew I was doing something wrong . . . :o
I'm trying to say "I'm taking pictures of my girlfriend, who is on your bike. She likes it and wants to keep it."
Dreamwalker 08-26-04, 04:42 AM Well, then it was nearly correct, just replace "der" with "die" and it fits.
Dreamwalker 08-26-04, 04:52 AM Yeah, perhaps I should refresh my Spanish a bit. Right now I would have a small problem in my grammar.
spuriousmonkey 08-26-04, 04:54 AM From now on we only speak dutch.
wirklich spreche ich nicht spanisch auch nicht
Dreamwalker 08-26-04, 04:56 AM I can understand dutch, but I am unable to write it myself. :D
Athelwulf 08-26-04, 04:56 AM Ik hop, dat ik sprak . . .
I can't do it. :(
Haha
That's the Spanish that's at the beginning of one of Rob Zombie's songs. I couldn't even tell if it was in fact Spanish, so I found a Spanish friend who could listen to it. :D
mente si i tramposo, y utilice los translatores
Athelwulf 08-26-04, 05:31 AM ¿Que? ¡Hablas el alemán, bitte!
Athelwulf 08-26-04, 05:34 AM Spanish is weird for me since I've grown accustomed to capitalizing every noun whenever I'm dealing with a foreign language, since almost 100% of the time that language is German. Also, Spanish doesn't capitalize things English does, like language names. Also, Spanish puts "the" in front of abstract concepts even if English doesn't.
Athelwulf 08-26-04, 05:41 AM Pour qoi?!
It's a good thing I know how to say "what" in several languages! :D
Dreamwalker 08-26-04, 05:46 AM Pour quoi?
Athelwulf 08-26-04, 05:49 AM Hmm . . .
If my conlang's vocabulary were wider, I could say something!
Btw, OOH YEAH!!!!! I BROKE THE 400TH POST MARK . . . AGAIN!!!!! HOOAH!
Ouch that was some hard ones Dreamwalker, I can understand some of the words but lack sufficinnt words to guess its meaning.
i also think you killed bablefish :)
Dreamwalker 08-26-04, 05:56 AM Why did I kill babelfish?
Did not think I could dig up so many french vocables, I have not written anything in French for years.
Hehe thought you where talking spanish, no wonder the translator did not work.
My reply: You fail to see my reason for using translators. I have no illusion of knowledge, I already know i dont know, hence the reason must be much more simple. puede usted conjeturar cuáles es?
Stokes Pennwalt 08-28-04, 04:40 AM English, primarily.
Fluent in Spanish. Conversational Japanese, Korean, and Russian, the lattermost not so much so any longer.
keke why do you speak so many languages, interest or a reason ?
moonlight 08-30-04, 07:13 AM my mother tongue is Arabic ... shlounkum asakum ebkhear?
----> means how are you doin'.
Stokes Pennwalt 08-31-04, 02:33 AM keke why do you speak so many languages, interest or a reason ?
Well I was raised your rank and file English-speaking white dude. But my wife is Colombian, and I'll be damned if I give her the upper hand by letting her call me names I can't comprehend.
Japanese and Korean came from being stationed on the Korean peninsula for four years with the US Navy's detachment to the UNSK garrison in Uijongbu.
I chose Russian as my language at the naval academy because I had to pick one, and Russian is fucking cool, man.

daphneeee 08-31-04, 03:34 AM Hey, who speaks Greek?
ferghie 12-08-04, 08:08 AM i speak estonian. :D
Combine 12-08-04, 10:35 AM i speak..
english
Some french
Some german
geodesic 12-08-04, 11:00 AM I speak English, and coming from England, I see little need to speak any other language :D
I do speak some German though.
Combine 12-08-04, 11:02 AM german and freach are popular languages
TruthSeeker 12-08-04, 12:37 PM Spanish seem to be even more popular. That's surprising cause most of the langauges I've seen in sciforums were mostly of saxonic origin....
It's a good thing that I can understand and speak, to varying extent, the three out of the four most commonly spoken languages in the world (in terms of first and second-tongue combined) : Mandarin, English, and Spanish.
Some of my friends speak Telugu and Gujarati. They aren't on the list.
I speak French (of course...)
english (else I would not be here!)
and german (not as well as I would like but I try.)
