Athlete's foot.
I really miss scratching my itchy foot all the time, peeling away dead skin, the blisters, and the open sore in the corner of my pinky toe.
It seems like I used to have it for years, then two years ago I went on a mission to eliminate it permanently. I periodically soaked my foot in distilled bleach, discarded alll my old shoes, and applied a large AIDS-like cocktail of different treatments to it on a daily basis.

It was weird when it was finally gone. It felt like things were "too perfect". I had grown accustomed to the constant annoying sensation of having to deal with it all the time. I had conditioned myself to ignore it as much as possible.......... and now there's nothing to ignore. It was like part of me was gone.

Just recently, the corner between my pinky toe started feeling itchy again. I took off my sock, pried open the two toes, and - to my suprise/chagrin it was back.........only it was much smaller than before. I want to take action now, and catch it early......but part of me wants to let it stay and fester......just for old times sake.

Don't go insulting the Gippper! I remember a guy at work (this is when I worked at Jewel in high school) saying while Reagan was president, "We need some kind of life support to keep this guy alive forever. He just kicks ass!" This was right after he bombed Khadfi. I couldn't agree more. I'd love to have Reagan as president right now (were he not dead, and not suffering from alzheimer's). In his prime, he was truly a great man.

PS Who was your favorite president?

No one is perfect. Even the Gipper could have been better. But in real life we take what we can get. If you demand perfection, you doom yourself to disappointment. As Warren Zevon said,

All alone on the road to perfection
At the inspection both they tried to discourage me

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that was the worst defeat in a presidential election, ever. 49 states to 1. Still, Mondale did better than Gore in that he carried his home state!

Sure, but if he could have just carried his home state he would have been president. Florida would have been a non-issue. I mean, how can you not win your home state? I'd be willing to bet that no president was ever elected without carrying his home state.

Tennessee is a redneck state. BFD. Gore won the popular vote, including in Florida. You missed all the voting problems and Republican ballots in Dem districts, etc on rightwing news. Anyway, won't it be wild to see President Gore after all? Will you still be ranting about the home state thing? 22% of Tennesseans voted. Look it up. Hardly representative.

That is one thing I'm confident we'll never see. Maybe one of his daughters, but not big Al. I've already told you. Our next President will be Rudy Guiliani. Right wing talk radio is laying the groundwork now. Pointing out what a great guy he is, how he cleaned up New York, how he says he'll appoint Judges like Scalia, Thomas and Roberts. And of course his 9/11 hero status. He's a shoe in.

I hope you are right though. That would mean the Republican Party has shifted far to the Left of where it is right now. You will not see that happen. I saw some artcles that said the same thing, I'll try to locate them. BTW Scalia is no fan of Giuliani. Nor is Thomas. Abortion rights and gay marriage aren't their thing:rolleyes: Look for Gingrich, Frist or Brownback to take the nomination. No Way the Republicans are dropping their neocon agenda and going moderate. I really like Gingrich, but I don't think he's electable. Too nerdy.

Besides, beyond Guiliani, who is there? The only real contender is Romney, and he has abortion problems of his own. Frist? Doubtful. Brownback? I'm not even sure who he is. So I'd say his chances are limited.

I'm not so sure Giulianni is a sure win for the nomination. McCain is a very well liked, powerful force.

But yes, I think it is most likely going to be either McCain or Giulianni. Either of them, I do imagine, could crush the Democrats, as they have large appeal.

I would not mind either, but Gingrich is a remarkable man, intelligence wise and in conservative thinking. He'd also be our first Ph.D. president, I do believe.

I hate McCain. He was the idiot behind that campaign finance abortion that threatens free speech and may, one day, spell the death of internet sites that deal with politics.

A lot of Republicans don't like him, I doubt he'd ever get the nomination. He'd probably do well in the general election, I'd hold my nose and vote for him over Hilary or Osama...er, make that Obama.

So long as all contributions are made public, the voters can decide. Our present system of onerous regulations that could shut down every site on the internet that discusses politics if they were enforced if far worse.

Consider Steve Forbes. He's a big propenent of the flat tax. I'd vote for him, but he's too nerdy to ever be elected. Why couldn't he write a big check to some like-minded but "cooler" guy with a chance of being elected? I believe this is how Barry Goldwater's campaign got its start.
