View Full Version : Who is the owner of these forrums. zarlok 02-24-08, 12:57 PM Yes, who pays for the bandwidth? sandy 02-24-08, 01:00 PM I think Plazma? cosmictraveler 02-24-08, 01:27 PM David Wannabe. invert_nexus 02-24-08, 03:10 PM A mysterious consortium of eastern Europeans. decantemix 02-24-08, 03:22 PM Well, my speculation. Minimal to no advertising. Most likely University activity. Probably several bodies, with funding. invert_nexus 02-24-08, 03:29 PM Nope. It's just like I said. And the advertising is given to guests (of which there are plenty) and people under 20 posts. It apparently pays the bills. Repo Man 02-24-08, 03:30 PM Why is it relevant? Asguard 02-24-08, 03:39 PM dave was the old owner, he sold it. Myles 02-24-08, 04:48 PM I think Plazma? Wrong. It's crimnal aliens who sneak in unobserved when good, upright, god-fearing Americanos del Norte are posting on here. Orleander 02-24-08, 05:01 PM A mysterious consortium of eastern Europeans. <gasp> The Illuminati??? Myles 02-24-08, 05:21 PM <gasp> The Illuminati??? I hope you whispered that word Stryder 02-24-08, 05:22 PM Nope. It's just like I said. And the advertising is given to guests (of which there are plenty) and people under 20 posts. It apparently pays the bills. Internet advertisement is a funny thing considering if you don't do direct advertising for a company and use a third party that deals with enlisting advertisements, you'll find a site will earn far less. Some companies require that links aren't just viewed or clicked, but products/services are purchased and then they will limit when you can withdraw any amounts by a set amount. (They'll also limit sites that get at least 100,000 individual hits, that all those hits must occur on the main page alone etc.) In general, Advertising at Sciforums would not cover it's costs alone although you'd have to ask of Pseudo and Zox about how much they personally spend. (Btw, any problems with the site, it's operation or feedback shoud be directed at Plazma since he is the Administrator in Charge and the spokes person for Pseudo/Zox when they aren't here to speak for themselves) Tiassa 02-24-08, 10:01 PM To be honest, I was under the impression Sciforums was now a company asset somewhere in the world, and being used as a guinea pig for software solutions. Gustav 02-25-08, 12:15 AM hmm in that case.... pseudo, zox and plazma! how do you respond to those heinous charges? eh? how many indentured indian programmers have you enslaved? Gustav 02-25-08, 12:19 AM oh my mental image of plazma is a gothic type fuck, all gaunt and shit, roaming the black forest in a trenchcoat and boots and whatnot /scared Gustav 02-25-08, 12:20 AM pardon i have no life cosmictraveler 02-25-08, 04:52 AM I think the Vatican owns this place now. Plazma Inferno! 02-25-08, 05:10 AM Yes, who pays for the bandwidth? I don't see the relevancy of this, when it's been responded ages ago. Search it please. It's in the forum somewhere. oh my mental image of plazma is a gothic type fuck, all gaunt and shit, roaming the black forest in a trenchcoat and boots and whatnot /scared You forgot barbwire, pliers and syringes... ... and Luger P08 after confession. Syzygys 02-25-08, 09:43 AM I don't see the relevancy of this, Just because you don't see it, some people could be curious. Also the relevancy would be if the site is run as a business, a research project, a platform for the ages or just a hobby. Owner is: Zox B. London, United Kingdom I got it from Alexa.com not from here, by the way. (I censored the address and phonenumber) Aivar 02-25-08, 10:51 AM Odd. I've never thought of this place as a possession of anyone. More like, someone's created and maintained public place, a message board for science. Now it's starting to feel like all the info posted on the boards becomes the property of the one who owns the boards... Stryder 02-25-08, 11:31 AM Odd. Now it's starting to feel like all the info posted on the boards becomes the property of the one who owns the boards... Actually the poster still owns the Intellectual Property/Copyright for anything they post here (although this needs to be clarified in the Forum Rules or FAQ), however it's not up to the Forum or Owners to maintain a copy, as data can occassionally be corrupted or lost, so it's up to the poster to keep their own copies. I've no idea, what to say there. Well, if intellectual property is still poster's, that's good. It's not like "if you discover something while working for a company, the company owns it" that I saw on TV once. I'd just better keep in mind, that the owner may delete the boards. I hope there'll be a warning before that happens. 'course it makes sense that if anyone comes up with anything good, they would keep backup elsewhere. It'll go to waste if it won't travel further than a message board, anyway. zarlok 03-02-08, 05:06 PM I don't see the relevancy of this, when it's been responded ages ago. Search it please. Oh, I was just wondering if the person(s) paying for this site realized what a shithole it has been turned into by worthless mods. Repo Man 03-02-08, 05:11 PM Oh, I was just wondering if the person(s) paying for this site realized what a shithole it has been turned into by worthless mods. Flattery will get you nowhere. Plazma Inferno! 03-03-08, 04:36 AM Oh, I was just wondering if the person(s) paying for this site realized what a shithole it has been turned into by worthless mods. You sound like you know something from the past. Saquist 03-04-08, 05:07 AM I think the Vatican owns this place now. How appropriate if it were true. Hercules Rockefeller 03-04-08, 05:59 AM Oh, I was just wondering if the person(s) paying for this site realized what a shithole it has been turned into by worthless mods. Can SciForums please institute a new policy whereby anyone who starts bitching and whining about how shitty SciForums has become is instantly permabanned? In so doing we won’t have to put up with their incessant bleating and immature moaning, and the person in question will not be troubled anymore by the supposed poor quality of the moderation. Everybody wins! :D Syzygys 03-04-08, 08:55 AM Can SciForums please institute a new policy whereby anyone who starts bitching and whining about how shitty SciForums has become is instantly permabanned? But if we do that, then any moderator whining about being a moderator being hard work and doing it for free should lose his/hers moderator privilages. :) Avatar 03-04-08, 09:50 AM How appropriate if it were true. And the Pope as head admin. Piss in your pants against that authority. :D |
