There was Child 44. Atleast I think it was 44. It had something to do with a person living in the USSR. I didn't get a chance to read it.

Try Tom Clancy's SSN, and Starship Troopers. I heard Rainbow Six and Executive Orders ( Tom Clancy ) are also pretty good, never read them myself, but I am planning to. Tale of Genji is also a good novel ( the first in fact :D ). Try: http://www.airforce-magazine.com/ Scientific American is also a good choice. If I were you, I'd just dig through the library for something interesting.

I finished Uchu no Senshi, it is a great anime. There are differences with the book, but it is awesome. It is one of the very few Sunrise mech animes that doesn't involve teenagers fighting. Here is another thing, the Terran Federation uniforms look like the Earth Federation uniforms from Gundam. Uchu no Senshi was made before Gundam Wing, it is 1987.
