basically, i want to know is, where there any countries that tried to stop ww1?

Not really. No. War at that time was predicted, expected, they knew it was going to happen. No one wanted to stop it.
Until it began. They saw the horrors that they had created, and said "oh fuck!". But, too late.

The United States of America did try to prevent the war. Alarmed at the tension, Wilson dispatched his close advisor Col. House to Europe in May of 1914, but the mission failed when the British government tricked House into leaving Europe during the July Crisis.

the americans didnt try to stop it, not until right at the end, after their military was built up and it became profitable to go to war.

Anyways, back in the real world, Wilson didn't see American interests as being served in a European war. The game plan - to send a single man, who was not particularily informed of events or issues, seems in retrospect somewhat childish. But for the time it was a fairly unprecedented move. Had there been no assasination at Sarajevo, House would have returned in the fall of 1914 to Europe with an agenda of brokering an Anglo-German naval/political pact.

Curiously, it appears House hit it off quite well with the Kaiser and his entourage. The Chancellor, Bethmann-Hollweg was absent from these meetings due to his wife's death, perhaps one of history's greatest missed opportunities. Had he and House met before the war, there was a chance that German policy would have followed a different line during July 1914.

Had there been no war, it would be probable that Germany and the United States would have attempted to drag England kicking and screaming into some sort of anti-war coalition.
