That's right goat boy, the Sun heats the ground and atmosphere during the day, less Sun light, less heating.

But that is offset by the fact that the heat that remains can't escape.

Yeah, but spider is correct that you need clouds at night to retain the heat. It isn't one or the other, it depends on the time of day.

Swivel, if it was cloudy all summer, cool summer, if was cloudy all winter, warm winter, the point is less Sun light warms the Earth and atmosphere when it's cloudy, and more clouds come from more evaporation, caused by more warmer atmosphere, so the the greater cloud cover cools the thing back down, a negative feedback mechanism.

So according to you, goat, cloudcover is the cause of global warming.

There are positive feeback mechanisms which you are discounting, because they don't fit your worldview.

Not sure if this guy is off his rocker or not, but it is a good read. He seems to have some facts that fly in the face of Gore's presentation. (seems to have it in for Al Gore as well, though. Hard to tell if his hatred of the man is coloring his meteorology, or if Gore's handling of the issue is fueling his hatred)

Ice cover melts, exposing ground or sea which absorbs more solar energy. Permafrost melts, releasing methane. Fresh water interferes with the ocean's thermohaline circulation...

Really? I can't imagine that all of the clouds would gather on the Sun's side of the Earth. The Coriolis effect, for one thing... Not to mention the fact that wind is created by differenced in temperatures around the Earth, which should keep things stirred up.

Besides, don't we see cloud formation travel around Saturn and Jupiter? Neither of these planets have a larger attractor nearby.

I think this guy is off his rocker on the effects that the moon has on clouds. But it is the first I have ever heard of it... so I am just going on my logic here.

edit: MadAnthony, I think it is an exaggeration. My understanding of the moon's role in life developing has more to do with tidal forces acting as a force to get life out of the water, and onto land. Filling tidal pools, depositing materials up and down wet surfaces with the regularity needed for life processes, and what-not. I really don't think that clouds would converge on the "sun side" if the moon went away.

The molecular weight of air is 29

FACT: Someone needs to retake high school chemistry.
