Almost would be about right. But since I don't view the The Deluge as a Flood by rain only then that leaves a fair amount of evidence in the geological area that should reveal events other than the Flood if you dig deep enough....

If you're going to propone that it was a total Deluge, you better get your ducks in a row about the geology.

Rain would have washed a significant amount of soil into the ocean and during the rising flood waters and during the receeding waters in the time that the bible gave.

I must take the perspective that it was global. Not just because the Bilble tells us but because 270 plus cultures tells us there is a global consensus.

Asside from Wallace Pratt I have other responses to the Global flood from other Geologist.

Almost all the sedimentary rocks were formed from the Deluge.

A well-reasoned response, but it did not answer my qeustion. Without any more informaiton about those two polar-bear claims, is there any differentiation between them in your mind? Or are they both considered equally plausable pending more information?

    Sedimentary means deposited in water.

references that all sedimentary rocks are formed by the 'deluge' and not by your delusion.

They're not equal in plausibility. One is false the other is unknown.

I admire your demeanor Ice Age Civilizations, Yet I question the logic in entertaining these viper like attitudes. They can't merely disagree they deride what they can't understand. They're completely devoid of respect or wisdom. Why persist?

Your ongoing ignorance never fails to amaze. Who told you sedimentary meant deposited in water? It doesn't.
    Sediments may be deposited by
    a) glaciers (are you going to wriggle on the basis ice is solid water?)
    b) wind (aeolian sediments)
    c) water
And then there are many carbonate rocks that are not 'deposited' at all, even though they are formed in water.

Wind and glacial formations are morphological (surface) features, nothing to do with the geological column.

The carbonates in limestones, and in shales and sandstones, precipitated from the Deluge water when CO2 from below combined with Ca and Mg in the Deluge water.

And Saquist, many people read in on these converstations, and I just let the words of all the participants speak for themselves.

Wise...Inded they do speak for themselves.

What's the difference between morphological feaures and the geologic column?

In earth science studies, morphology refers to surface features of the Earth, and the geolologic column is what's below all of that.

I think the rest of us should just sit back and enjoy the process of enlightenment, here. With occasional questions, perhaps, if things flag.

Here's one: Are glaciers and caves part of the geologic column, or the morphological features? How about permafrost over ice, or filled-in caves?

no it doesn't. By your definition, my cat becaomes Sedimentary when I give him a bath in the sink, and is no longer sedimentary when he wiggles free and runs into the kitchen.

Why is one false? I have asked the question with phrase "without any more information"; what information have you added to your logical process to conclude one false? You haven't shared it with the rest of us.

Again you are betraying your deep seated ignorance. Glaciers not only erode (creating morphological features), but deposit (creating sediments that may for a time also be morphological features). Your original statement that sediments (implicitly all sediments) are deposited in water was simply wrong.

Your comments on the deluge water simply ignore a plethora of detailed facts about the characteristics of carbonates.

By the way, do you deny that sands laid down in the desert by winds can later become sandstones? You see, what really pisses me off with your small minded, intransigent ignorance is your refusal to appreciate the wonders of the planet. To stand beneath a cliff face on a damp Scottish morning and look at the cross bedding of dunes laid down in the Permian epoch is a magnificent experience. Your mindless obsession with attributing absolute truth to a literary metaphor devalues the work of the creator, if there is one.

Time for you to grow up.

All polar bears are not purple. The knowledge I've added would be my own: knowing that all polar bears are not purple.
