I'm confused. You — or these people — think it's OK for people on the internet to disregard copyright laws and distribute other peoples' products?

Actually. I agree with this. DRM should be stopped because it retards the free flow of information.

So you're saying it's not OK to crack this code and distribute the contents of these DVDs?

Because I think the fellow at that blog who has posted the code should be prosecuted...

The problem is that there are millions who are doing this , so its something that general public has accepted.

Well, golly, it seems that there's also lots of people who are commiting murder and theft, and it's apparent that the public accepts it becuase most of them aren't caught or convicted. So ....that makes it okay to commit murder and theft?

I'll second that. Excusing bad behavior with other bad behavior is illogical. Copyright laws are what they are, regardless of what the anarchists on the internet think of them. Information is not free, and stealing someone's intellectual property is just as bad as stealing their car. In fact, it's worse if said intellectual property is how a person makes a living...

And I'll third it. Those who think they should benefit - with no cost - from the efforts of others, because "profit" is a bad word to them, should be forced to work in unpaid labor camps. After all, that pay they were receiving was profit for them!

I'm really of two minds on this. Stealing is wrong. Protection of intellectual property is important. But the ham fisted attempts by industry to prevent copying pisses me off.

If I buy a CD I can make as many copies as I want to use on my various devices. But if I download a song legally, I can't use it on more than one! Stuff from Itunes only works on an Ipod. But songs downloaded illegally work on all my devices! WTF?

This is the same idiot crap the movie industry pulled when VCR's first came out. They tryed to prevent them from being sold via lawsuits. Finally, they gave that up and now make tons of money via selling videotapes/DVDS/etc.

This is what the movie and music industry needs to do. Stop with the anti-piracy techniques that make legal copies incompatible with many devices. Lower the prices of material bought online. Improve the quality of legal copies by offering things that peer to peer sites can't. Get with the times and quit trying to hold back the flood.

Honesty a dead word among the liberals, Hell I'm so old fashioned that if the clerk gives me the wrong change, even a penny I give it back, dam the thought that it is right to steel from some one, well I guess the shallow end of the gene pool is expanding.

I'm no "liberal" in the modern demented sense of the word.

I hate a corporation trying to control all media formats. No I FUCKING HATE it. I personally can't be bothered to go through all the hoops just to rip off some stuff on the internet. I'd rather save my time and buy it. See?? Something stinks here.

I suspect the horrible horrible "thieves" are the kids that would rather spend money on a real object like a hotrod than music on their little ipod/mp3 trendy B.S devices. Gee sound familiar? Coping tapes on the double tape boom-box? Big fucking deal. Guess what the big hair bands didn't have to get jobs back then and the little faggit timberlakes of the world are still making their hard -earned dough to buy blood diamonds for their fake titted ho's.

But when I put in a CD I burned(BURNED FROM ORIGINAL, BECAUSE THE FUCKING BAND SPLIT AND THEY DON"T SELL THE FUCKING CDS ANYMORE) like 5 years ago in a computer and it gets flagged by some new copy protection BULLSHIT, i'm not playing ball anymore. I AM A CRIMINAL COME FUCKING ARREST ME YOU COCKSUCKERS.

    Have a nice day.

Actually the laws are incorrect and made to exploit others.

Now people are gaining some power due to internet and hence its becoming difficult for the bloodsuckers to manipulate laws in their favor for too long.

"committing murder and theft" is no good for anyone.

According to whom? And does that person have any legal authority to declare that some laws are "incorrect"? Or are you just saying it because it helps you to steal things from others?

Apparently it's "good" for those who do it, else they wouldn't do it.

Yes that person has the same authority that the one who made those laws had.

    Her name is Justice

    Good of few is irrelevant.

Singular, people can't just break the laws they don't like or don't agree with. That would breed anarchy, as everyone has different laws they want to obey or ignore. And your stab at making justice, which is a theory or a concept, as something that is tangible and can decide what's right and wrong smacks of sentimentalism. We have laws, we have lawmakers. We have a system for changing laws. Let's just deal with that reality, shall we?

Also, when you wrote "Good of few is irrelevant," I shuddered. Never was a more telling — and frightening — statement uttered. Individual rights, property rights all are meaningless if you really think the tyranny of the majority is acceptable. I, for one, would never want to live where the good of the few is irrelevant. Think of the abuses that would occur. Holocausts and slavery would be OK. Being homosexual would be a crime...and many, many more outrages...
