You know, that was really uncalled for. It makes me want to go out and tell the world not to do anything you say. You're a 21 year old kid who lives at home with Mommy and Daddy. Come back when you grow up.

Solar power is not economical right now because solar cells are still quite inefficient and quite expensive. So three cheers for the greedy asshole who figures out how to overcome these problems.

I suppose you have a better idea? Let me guess. The company that spends billions in corporate R&D and the people in those corporate R&D labs who gave up years of their lives to make an solar power economical should just forego all profits. Anything else would be evil.

Oil is expensive because it is a precious resource and because you want it.

He's gonna' want a lot more than three lousy cheers if he overcomes all of those problems!

And are you gonna' be willing to pay it? Or will it be just like now ....where everyone complains and whines and cries?

Like Leopold, I remember when gasoline was 25 cents per gallon ...and people bitched and moaned and whined and cried when it rose to 35 cents per gallon. And then, yep, you guessed it, when it rose to 45 cents per gallon, everyone bitched and moaned and whined and cried.

You don't suppose our whole purpose in life is to ...bitch and moan, whine and cry, do ya'? I mean, it is what we humans do best, ain't it?

As long as somebody has the proper patents and rights, if or when they manage to perfect (relatively) solar panels, they're going to be raking the cash in no matter how much they sell them for.

Think of Windows. Cisco. Other companies that have the product that the world uses.

I dare say it would be a complete mess, legally and for the inventor/R+D guy.

Then it would have to be money that they didn't have to earn.

No new technology helped to "save" resources on the global scale, au countre. Why one would think that "green technologies" are going to be different?

First, industrial-capitalist system, commodifying everything and everybody in the search for profit, must be destroyed. Saving energy within that system is as efficient and useful as teaching a monkey to read.

For some reason when I read your posts I imagine you as a middle aged, bolding male with well defined belly and breasts, possibly, oriented not quite conservatively in the certain areas of life. Damn associations, can't help them.

Yes, he will, and he will deserve it.
If its cheaper than current technology, yes.

We don't actually know how much we're paying for current technology.

If you're what people turn into when they "grow up", then I hope I never do.

Now I see it. Biodiesel is an ego trip and has nothing to do with saving nonrenewable resources.

Biodiesel is a nice little idea whose concept will never catch on.

    Oh my dearest sandy!

How wonderful to see you also in this thread. I do enjoy your lovely avatar. Indeed biodiesel will never catch on.

That's why you can get biodiesel in 1700 gas stations in Germany. And in france biodiesel mixed with regular diesel is available in many places. And the European Union insists that in 2010 5.75% of all fuel is biofuel. Which includes biodiesel and ethanol.

Most countries in the European Union aim for this target by mixing regular fuel with biofuel and steadily increasing the percentage.

I do enjoy your wonderful contributions to our problem free forum.

Sincerly yours (and Jesus' of course
