Hello, im new here and wish to learn alot here.

First off, i am wondering if it's possible to make some kind of bracelet you wear on your hand for basketball, and that bracelet is capable of producing a laser or laser point to the rim of the basketball. And when the bracelet produces that laser and points to the rim or the backboard of the basketball court, then the bracelet moves your hand to the right position where it's aiming that laser at, causing you to make the basketball shot.

    Is it possible?

    Engineer?

How would the bracelet move your hand?
Who'd write the software to cater for all of the possible angles and deflections?
How would the requisite computing power be carried/ worn?
How would the strength of the throw be determined and produced?

It all depends on the power you put into the shot. Unless you could pause time and calculate the trajectory, knowing exactly how much power you were going to throw it with, I think you're pissing in the wind.

    Practice!

lol that's just a name i came up with haha.

How would the bracelet move your hand?
^That's what im asking people here.
Who'd write the software to cater for all the possible angles and deflections?
^i don't really think you need to write a software, just make it detect the laser point?
How would the requisite computing power be carried/worn?
^Bracelet. If your left handed you wear it on your left hand.
How would the strength of the throw be determined and produced?
^This is a hard one, well maybe depending on the distance of the laser point to the bracelet it'll tell you how hard you should throw? lol

It's just a theory, and thats why im asking people here if it's possible.

No, but how about a laser headband?

Then you're not much of an engineer are you?
    No ideas yourself?
You'd need a exoskeleton wired into the pointer system, the reflection detector and the computer.

So there'd be something to detect the reflection.
Great, what works out how far away you are from the back board?
What works out how hard to throw ball?
    Software, maybe?
So you're going to carry a laser projector and a detector and a processor and a hard drive (or chip with the algorithms burnt onto it on your wrist.
Which would need software to cater for the extra weight.
How would the strength of the throw be determined and produced?

    Which comes back to software.

Maybe you'd be better thinking harder about ideas before you post - real engineers don't like half-baked half-considered pie-in-the-sky ideas from other people.

I assumed it referred to "laser wristband" since you couldn't be bothered to use quotes.

That much is blatantly and painfully apparent

    So you missed this bit?
    Stupid.

No, because your aim has far too many other variables than just pointing. How much strength you use, your rhythm, when you start the ball on your fingers and how you release it, etc.

In a real game, you won't be able to wear such a bracelet.

Two Wrist-Mounted Laser System -- Lazer Chase is the high-tech way to capture spies - just aim and flex your fist to fire! But watch out, because your laser unit is also the target. Five hits and you're history!

Never say never. It would be an extremely impressive contraption if anyone ever made it, but I think 99.99~% of people would say it's a pretty worthless contribution to the world.

Basketball is a competitive game. Games require skill. Games are supposed to be fun. Add a laser guided you-can't-possibly-miss contraption to it and it loses the point a little.

Saying that, couldn't the same kind of contraption be used with disabled people? People with very bad nerve and muscle damage in their arms for instance.

There was a laser aiming aid prototype that you attached to a snooker cue a while back.

Maybe you may find it in google.

I'll destroy that invention before it ever comes into existence. Basketball is my favorite sport godamnit, don't try to ruin the integrity of the game

    The point?

It would take you longer to learn how to use the laser than it would to shoot straight.

Close your eyes and imagine yourself shooting nothing but net shots for 30 minutes per day. Studies have shown the results of such an exercise to be as effective as physically doing so!
