Why do we die?

Is it because our bodies get tired or are incapable of sustaining themselves anymore? I've always wondered.

And if so, why do we die? If one could simply renew their cells and organs, wouldn't that mean they would never die (of old age, at least)?

well we age because of cell deteoration...oxygen is poisonous, even though we need it. We age because telomerases on our DNA in every cell get shorter...more mistakes thus are prone to be done. Also we age because through ages our body gets a wear, just like cars get a wear. And at some point of time the whole system of organs starts failing one by one...because a heart may have stopped from clogged arteries or collapse of muscle...which leads to a domino-effect, all other organs fail and so on...and thats what we call death because the brain dies as well.

There are no reasons why we die, anymore than there are reasons why we live.

Thats a pretty solid answer. Especially the domino effect.

So then...is the original question seeking a physical description as Dragon provided, a metaphysical answer, a philosophical answer, or a religious answer?

A scientific answer is what I wanted, and thanks to dragon I got it. However, as I said, why can't our cells simply replenish themselves? Or, could one live forever if they got organ transplants when their original organs began wearing out?

I can't remember where I read this...but there are experiments that have been done on mice that increased their life-span as much as 400-600%. Mice don't normally live to be 10-12 years...3 tops.

Yoga is a replenishing means..it has been proven that it can rejuvenate the body and reduce some of the negative effects of aging...such as wrinkles, impotence, and lower energy.

    Thats what has been proved!

There are claims that go beyond the already existing proof that using powerful techniques one can increase their life span as much as a whole lot!!!

There are supposedly techniques that can reverse the aging process, making it stay about 25...its optimal physical prime. I have tried some of them and found that I didn't need to shave every 3rd day, but once every 3 weeks or so...so it showed me signs that at least my hair wasn't growing out so fast as it normally does- that is, when I was doing the yoga.

Three construction workers are on the seventy-fifth floor of a non-finished building. The italian opens his lunch box to find a pizza and says "Man, if I get pizza one more time I am going to jump off this building and fall to my death!" The chinese opens his lunch box to find rice and says "Man, if I get rice one more time I am going to jump off this building and fall to my death!" The blonde opens his lunch box to find a cheeseburger and says" Man, if I get a cheeseburger one more time im going to jump off this building and fall to my death!"

So the next day they all got the same thing and they jumped off the building to their death. That weekend at the funeral, the italian and the chinese wives are crying and saying "I would have fixed him something else for lunch but he never told me." And as the two wives stare at the blondes wife, they both ask why she isn't sad about her husbands death, the blonde replys "Don't look at me, he packs his own lunch."

It's not only the organs that fail; remember the domino effect; it's individual cells that begin to deteriorate, thereby causing the domino effect. The reason? Well it's obviously written in the code; for whatever reasons, we are programmed to deteriorate and die within a certain time limit.

Eventually everything dies. It's the payment for life.

Yes, but if you replace the organs you replace the cells within those organs. Why can't the cells simply replenish resources? Or, better yet, why can't cells replenish themselves, so that our body naturally and easily replaces every cell in our body when it needs to?

Is there no way to achieve immortality?

We have immortal cells that never die. They are also called cancer cells.

This is true...but difficult to understand.
There is no way to cheat death, but it takes a long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long time.
Do you think you are a human by chance?
If so then consider yourself lucky as hell, why?

Because the ratio of non-human species to the human species is insanely huge. No one really knows how huge for sure, because we don't know how many insects live on the earth, the people who give the official approximation quickly admit they really don't know.

Then there are the birds, mammal, fish, plants, and other assortments of life.
Why weren't you born as a dinosaur? Now we are considering the chances of life spread out in the chances of time. Meaning...

The chance of being born a human is 1/999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

    99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

    and then some!!!!!

For every human that has existed, there have been a ratio that goes well beyond that number living also through time. We are damn lucky to be human!

    Now...consider yourself lucky!!!

    Or consider this...
We are much older then the universe itself!!! We had to pass through
all that life...switching forms and species, as time carves out what we are today. We start as single cells, with virtually no experience of time. Therefor, billions of cycles can pass by and it wouldn't seem that long.

As we move on, to being insects the same thing repeats...but we experience more drag though the cycles are actually less. Because ratios have changed.
Insects possess more sensory equipment then single celled life-forms. So they experience more subjective sense of time.

Moving on and skipping this on up...dinosaurs, fish , birds, reptiles, mammals, monkeys, then humans. We have already died in a sense, many times over as human beings. The story behind us is epic. But we lose the configuration
of what we knew as we pass on.

That is one kind of death. Right now you are dying as you read this, thousands of millions of trillions of times per a second. That is another kind of death (we could easily say life).

Then there is that last step. The cycle and pattern is as it is in the smallest as it is in the longest. Since birth..life...death accord from the beginning, the same pattern is building up in the long run. I can't say how close you are to truly dying. If you can get there in this life you did it!!!

Then You Died!!!! (Making you Luckiest of them All)
This is another kind of death (life). The difference is in the short term cycles that are within longer-termed cycles...though the pattern of the cycle is the same for each cycle.

It is not as easy to die as you think!

Its the final door to ???

We also die from overdoing it.

Consider, the mind as an active organ to the body.

Water bears aren't concious, though, are they? No, we need to find a way for us, Humans, to be immortal. Or at least live a few hundred years. Mostly it's because I want to live long enough to see all that will happen, etc, oh well whatever.

We die because stars want us for themselves to be alone in emptiness with them, through apathy through haze of galaxies and clusters of all the wars forgotten by mankind somewhere far away from us to please their warmth and give a birth to new civilization only stars could dare dream from dust create us once blind now everseeing seekers of the truth. We die because stars want us for themselves. We die because we want to seek the truth.
