I come to appreciate rap through the eyes of Tupac, but behind the catchy rhymes and smooth styling text was something more. It related to my own past and the present unseen but felt on my skin. The rules of rap, its lyrics, strongly coincide with rules of life and how life should be seen through the barrel of a gun.

So I seen yesterday Jay-Z interview, what caught my ear was his quote
In every Jay-Z rap admirer eye, Jay-Z is a legend and his accomplishment are unsurpassed and definite to the ground. Yet all of his rap audience sees his "rise" and nothing else, they never seem to understand his "genesis" and the "demise" that follows after the rise...

He never did speak of what made him what he is, all he said was it is a struggle to the pedestal were he is at now. Its not like I am strongly tying this to an analogy of a gun, but consider this the similarities are in essence astonishing. With 10 bullets in a magazine the first shot is most likely a miss, the next two bullets have a bigger chance of reaching the target, the 5 bullets after that hit the bodies of the enemy, and the last two remind of the end of the cartridge. The demise comes when there are no more bullets to shoot, no more songs to rap, thats when the bullets from the other guns reach you, the reach Jay-Z...and thus his long dramatical "demise" occurs, the body falls on the concrete the whole scene caught on camera for every kid to dream of rap to see...

So I say rap is a style of life, through barrel of a gun viewed.

I like Eminem myself. He has some pretty rude lyrics, but I find alot of the beats catchy.

Eminem is bit dramatical, farther away from truth of the ghetto.

So you're saying rappers can't aim worth a shit.

    I agree.

    Rank amateurs all.

    What's to understand ?

His "demise" will be the same as most other musicians...

    He becomes a "has been."

I think the important question to ask here is how did this ugly son of a bitch get Beyonce ?

Excuse the intermission, but I find it hugely comical that Draqon here is making judgments on rappers using the "Truth of the Ghetto" as his yardstick.
The truth of the Ghetto? I'd imagine draqon boy here knows as much about that as he does about looking down the barrel of a gun - from either end.
    *Chuckle*

As an aside, is it a coincidence that the only recently successful white rapper has to contend with more questioning about his background and experience of the harsher side of American life than any black has ever had to?
More than that, of course, those who make assumptions are usually those who style themselves as being non-racist. The same ones who feel a certain satisfaction at seeing Eminem's "exposure" because it vindicates to a large extent their belief in their beloved Oppressed Black Man and the "truth and soul" in his music.

    Carry on.

    So wrong...

It's a "niche" form or style at best.

I mean - a good part of the "music" portion is actually other pieces of music, and the vocal presentation usually involves little more than a monotoned rant - especially the "thuggy-wuggy" stuff.

Plus, look at your subject matter -

    I am so fantastic.

    I got lotsa -
    whorish women
    money
    booze
    dope

I kill whomever doesn't happen to agree with me.

    It gets old quick.

So The Marquis...you feel that I am black? is that why you tied Eminem to racism?

No, Draq, t'was merely an observation which had nothing to do with the thread topic.

I will say that if I was the President of the Hallmark corporation, I'd give you a job writing the cards for valentines day. This, of course, has nothing whatsoever to do with what I might think of you personally. Or with the topic.

So why are you talking about it if it has "nothing to do with the topic"? :bugeye:
If I was black would I find the "Hallmark" reference offensive? I sure would.

There is a point at which a man suddenly wakes up and asks himself why something he thought was entertaining 5 minutes ago no longer is.
    This is that point.
