There are simpler ways to replace petroleum product consumption by natural gas. Switch from oil heating to gas heating for homes. Change oil fired power plants to gas fired.

one thing about gas that nations should know is that it tends to blow up when temperatures change too fast or when it is extremely cold. Russia usually gets 1 building blow up by gas per 2 years.

natural gas will not last much longer after oil, most certainly it will not be able to replace a significant percentage of oil use for long.

Our only solution is to seek life elsewhere, we need to leave this planet.

And how do we move millions and billions of people? especially if we don't even have the energy to sustain them let alone move them?

we need to send couple of rockets into space and use fuel on moons/planets such as moon Titan or Jupiter...and transfer this fuel here

that insane, how do we even move millions of people into LEO?

I wouldn't worry about that if i was you:

"The American department of energy, has simulated a dirty bomb explosion, "and they calculated that the most exposed individual would get a fairly high dose [of radiation], not life-threatening." And even this minor threat is open to question. The test assumed that no one fled the explosion for one year. "

and how do you proposed we built it with materials that don't exist yet (perfect carbon nanotubes) over a time frame of decades with an economy that can't even function do to energy shortages?

maybe a rotovator but that would still take years to setup, meanwhile we all starve to death.

Russia is the world's largest producer of natural gas. Will only be indebted to the Ruskies instead of the Saudis and then the devolved American masses will have to become the peasant biomass to Ruskie Energy Oligarchs.

and North Pole is our too...so America will have to stay as biomass

Failing all else...we can always make methane from human excrement!

What could be better than creating energy from waste matter?

Or it can be on-the-go type of a vehicle. Basically while the car is rolling you eat the McDonalds sandwich and through intake methane goes right into a combustion tank...

I love that idea, just sit on a toilet installed in the car, the amount of farting and defecation required though is simply inhuman. I do remember a study that said and average human being produces enough methane in their life time blow up their house (I assume that meant enough methane to replace 15% of there house air volume). A NG powered car would consume that much methane in say a month of commuting!

AS the planet heats up, we have a problem with the methane being released into the atomsphere further acerbating global warming. We would be energy independent if we used natural gas.
As for Russia, I have not seen a chart yet or a list that shows them as being a major producer or exporter. They certianly are a major oil exporter. And as far as homes blowing up, when was the last time one heard of a home in the US being blown up due to natural gas leaks?

    all the dam time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbeNVop3oWY

But I'm not arguing the NG is unsafe.

"Russia is also the world's largest exporter of natural gas, the second largest oil exporter and the third largest energy consumer."

Whats the difference between natural gas an LPG (liquid petroleum gas)?

If your saying cars run better on this stuff, your wrong. Cars run hotter, and therefore require rebuilding sooner. That is unless they are manufactured to run LPG, but even then it's not great.

Natrual gas: Mostly methane, usually comes from dedicated NG mining.

LPG: Mix of methane, ethane, propane, even butane, gas emitted by conventional oil mining.

Natural gas (methane) has a octane rateing of 105 and operates quite well in an engine, modification may be needed to the fuel injection system to make sure it can operate on a gasious fuel as well as liquid. The main stumbling block is storing methane, even compressed its energy density is nowhere near gasoline, so very high compression expensive fuel tanks are needed to get comparable range.

    here a basic overview: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/ngv.htm
