    38 grand? Not bad...not bad.
Plazma should cash in, and buy himself a Mercedes-Benz. Heck - I think the C class starts at around 33, so he'll have money left over for a few options (leather seats, tinted windows, fancy rims, etc).

How many sciforums members are active actually? On the frontpage it is said
that there are 30,736 members here. If there are about at least 1% active
(300 members), each of us can pay around 100 USD and buy this site.
Then we can remove all admins and mods and have democracy

If websiteoutlook is correct, you are more likely to end up with this:
    Dog is cool, but optional.

Actually, I know someone who drives tens of thousands of miles a year in one of these.
    It has its advantages.

You only need a motorbike license.
People quite admire someone with the audacity to drive such a crap car.
    Free Road Tax.
You can burn electric invalidity trikes at the traffic lights.

After you've had one for a few years, people even stop laughing.

    Sciforums- 38000 bucks, 19000000 posts= $0.02 per post.

    Just my two cents.

It is really hard to price websites. I actually had a thread on Sciforums' worth.(interesting but neither Plazma nor the owners wanted to contribute to it) It could be anywhere between a wide range....

In short it worths as much as someone is willing to pay for it. Mind you Sciforum is just a platform and content is provided by the POSTERS. The only extra value is the history/old posts. Otherwise instead of buying it, just starting a new is much cheaper...

My guess is that you could get the software under 20K, probably even for much less.

It wouldn't get the number of posts/viewers.

I can't understand why the adverts totally disappear once you are a member, which means that the people who use the site most don't see any.

Is that something that google specifies in order to give the site high profile?

    This is actually a truth.

We don't want to bother members with slow loads.
No ads. Just wide open horizon of intelligent thoughts.

Although Plazma gave you an answer, here is my take on it:

Since the content (ultimate value of the site) is coming from the posters and there are way more guests (clickproviders for ad purposes) it is just good policy not to piss of the people who provide content by shoveling ads down in their throats.

    Hey Plazma, was I close?

    P.S.:Currently Active Users: 610 (25 members and 585 guests)

That is 23 times more guests than members, so they lose little by not providing ads for members but they gain a lot!

It performs rating based on the website's hit-rate alone, nothing to do with the companies behind them. I don't think the hit-rate is accurate either.

It's too flat to be right.
sciforums has more posts when the schools are on break.
