I got to shoot my first guns on an internship in Kansas (seriously, don't ask, long story). I was working and living with some extreme right-wing coworkers who were alot of fun and all, but quite simply, they got hard for guns. Scared one of them awake one morning and his first instinct was to whip a loaded pistol out from under the pillow, I repeat, LOADED AND POINTED AT ME before he came to his senses a split second later. Crazy bastards... they took me out shooting one day and they must've had enough weaponry and ammo to take over a small country. I got to shoot...

two of one of the guys' competition shotguns,
    a S&W .22 pistol of some kind,
a .40 revolver that damn near flew out of my hand when I fired it,
an AK-47, not sure which country's,
and an AR-15 semi-auto assault rifle

I'm not to familiar with guns, but it was pretty cool to figure out how to use not only one gun, but a pretty broad range of them.

Seriously though, I'm all for people having guns, but some people do NOT need to have a gun under their pillow. My God Almighty....

I've used a shot-gun a few times as a fun target training on empty cans.

In South San Fransisco there is a pistol shooting range that I attend regularly and shoot usually 200 rounds each visit. They rent a variety of weapons from .22 to 44 magnums. I've tried everything. I tend to prefer revolvers since they are easier to load, and the Smith and Wesson 357 magnum tends to be my weapon of choice. The 44 magnum has a huge kick and I usually end up with bruises. Semi-automatics are of course popular but reloading a 45 against the spring in the magazine is irritating and painful after a while.

When two of my daughters visit from the UK it is usually their first request to visit the shooting range. They are now quite competant marksmen with a variety of pistols.

Shotguns and skeet shooting and varieties of that on outdoor ranges is another great hobby. With such weapons you don't so much aim at the target but rather guess where the target is going to be. These are all moving targets. It takes some practice but very satisfying.

Shot mostly 22s and bb guns as a kid (the prey was gophers). Dad taught me how to shot something with real kick as a teenager. 30-06 and 12 gauge. Completely different animals for that and did not have the stomach for killing deer, so mostly target shooting. In cadets, we used no7 Lee Enfields. The saying was "A number7 won't kill you, it will just make you mad". It was only 22 cal.

Later on I got to try the C7(canadian m16 basically), The FN-FAL(Fav by far) and C9(Minimi)...but never against live targets.

Certainly. Besides owing several handguns, two rifles and two shotguns, I also did a tour in Viet Nam. I'm no hunter as I dislike killing animals - but have a slightly different view of people. Animals seldom set out on purpose (with a few exception) to hurt or kill you but that's not true of people.

    Any other questions?

I grew up around guns, so yes, I've used a gun. In the summer I go target shooting every few weeks. I'm pretty much limited to summertime shooting because we have no indoor ranges where I live, and our outdoor range closes for the winter.

Partial list of guns I've shot (I've lost track by now):
    S&W .40
    .45 Glock
    AR-15 semi-auto
an assortment of .22 pistols and rifles
    .38 special snub-nosed revolver
    .38 (I think) rifle
    .357 magnum
    some type of Remington rifle

... Also various BB guns and pellet guns, but those don't count

I've also never shot any living creature. Tell that to the people who still think guns cause violence.

Here in Texas, you are issued a gun with your birth certificate.

Exactly right! People kill people with (who have) guns.

And bad guys don't have to have guns anyway. They often settle for knives, clubs, ball bats, etc.

Do you use reloads or buy new ammunition every time?

Being in England makes it difficult to shoot a gun, nevertheless I have used a 12 gauge shotgun once on a friend's farm.

And I have owned 3 different maximum legal power .22 air rifles which I used to just shoot bean cans and things, only ever killed a few rabbits with them.

Had a guns pointed at me on a couple of occasions; once I was watching the police at their supposedly secret shooting range and one saw me and pointed a rifle at me and told me to hop it.
Another occasion is when waking over a farmer's field, he didn't take kindly to it and shot me with his shotgun. Luckily he only shot me with rice, but it still hurt like a bitch.

I did once own an air gun. I used it for fun, shooting cans and stuff.
I once took it with me to France (holidays).
I found an bare piece of ground in the middle of no where.
The place looked like one of those dirt bike places but without any real tracks.
    So I started shooting cans.
After a while I heard a car approaching fast, it was the military..
So I ran (I was young and stupid lol) and dumped my air gun in some ditch.
The dude that was in charge of the huge machine gun on top of the buggy yelled at me to stop running.
So I did.. I looked back and the son of a bitch was pointing that thing at me.
And he didn't look like he was joking about it.
Then two other dudes got out and started questioning me about what I was doing there.
They were carrying machine guns as well, and were pointing it at me.
Apparently, the bare piece of ground was some sort of military training grounds.
They demanded the gun I had earlier.. so I got it for them.
Damn.. it was a bit embarrassing when they all started to laugh loudly at the sight of the air gun.
They gave it back and told me to scram, which I did without hesitation..

They were never going to shoot you, that's a lot of paperwork.
