I still laugh when the "glory days" refers to 2004, what of all the good times prior? Oh yeah, you guys weren't here then (Okay of few of you were Tiassa/James R

Comfort circle???!!!! How are the 15 or so of us you describe as a fucking comfort circle less contributory posters than that disgusting little trace of AIDS infected semen? We actually POST, strangely enough, he just insults people.

I believe Lou was taking a stab at people who use this forum as a giant 'instant messaging' window...idle chatter without substance.

Like he's in a position to complain about things like that.

Maybe once in a while he'd like to actually contribute something other than insults and sarcasm. Then he can whine about other people.

I have just checked the ban list, the ban period of Lou has been shortened into
just 7 days, so his ban will be lifted on 4-5 days!

    Sounds like OCD.
It feels like something is wrong, I wish I could wash sciforums (100 times a day).

    DR LOU:

What raises this post of DLN's above idle chatter is that perhaps, perhaps, he knew that last (bolded) sentence was hilarious. Or, actually, on the other hand, it doesn't. But it is funny.

I have to agree that I have always appreciated Dr Lou's posts.
He used to post a lot more regarding science, evolution and philosophy than he does now (his insight on dog breeding and pack animal behavior was always enlightening and I do miss some of those old discussions), but to discount his current posts as nothing more than drivel simply says to me that you haven't read enough of his posts or can't see past his unique way of expressing himself.
There is good, quality content in there sometimes.
For a long time Dr Lou was the only thing that kept me coming back to this place.

    He is honestly, extraordinarily intelligent.

His posting style has changed quite a bit and he has become more purposefully vitriolic than he used to be, but the content is still there.
Honestly, I appreciate his new style, because it is honest.
He does the opposite of the "comfort circles" and he always takes posts based on the merit of what was said, as opposed to basing them on who said it.
He could rip a post apart in one breath and praise a post from the same person in the next.

I admit he goes over the top sometimes, and I think that is a direct result of his time and again dissatisfaction with moderation and hypocricy displayed here - but he keeps coming back because he does value some of the posters and the information that is here. And believe it or not, he LOVES a good, interesting conversation - we've had some great ones over the years.
Try engaging him in one, and you may be surprised.
Some people and some policies here have just worn down his patience for pretenses - and I can definitely understand that.

He speaks without a filter, and I applaud and respect him for that.
It reminds me of the Eminem line: "I'm only givin you things you joke about with your friends inside your living room."
He says what people would say if they didn't give a shit about the niceties and pretenses that get in the way of being brutally honest.
He says outloud what many people think, but more importantly, he says what HE thinks.

Thanks for years of interesting and honest posts, Lou.

Wow one raven. That really means a lot coming from you, everyone here has a tonne of respect for you including my many enemies, so that's a strong testimony.

    Thanks.

How smug am I feeling right now?
Nah, I'm honestly almost humbled by that.

Raven gets down on one knee, spills his heart about his true intimate feelings of Lou, digs deep into his pocket and presents a box, inside is a mighty sized ring that he then slips onto Lou's penis. Kicking the Ann Summers bag aside he then gobbles it up infront of everybody.

Lou embraces this deeply felt connection, as he gets his ego and penis stroked by the tounge of truth.

Haha, no I think what you said was about right raven.

    peace.

I think to get sidetracked by Lou's profanity is to miss the point of his post and succumb to the intent of it.

One Raven, I do agree with you that you should be 'brutally honest' and not refrain from disagreeing with someone when they're talking shit just because you like that person. My problem with Leukemia is that he doesn't stop at merely being honest. He goes out of his way to make people feel small.
