they are called mic galaxies, because lots of little cute mice live there, right?

Yes. Now shut up and let the adults talk.

    OIM---

How was your week long sabbatical from SciForums?

I seem to recall something you once said...

This tidbit aside (which I find quite ironic), let me explain. One could also ask---if the universe is expanding, why do we get hit by meteors? The answer is simple: gravity wins most of the time.

The universe exhibits lots of structure. Solar system -> galaxy is a first step up. But the galaxies also form clusters and even super clusters. The clusters and superclusters The dark energy is overpowered by gravity on all but the largest scale---that is, between superclusters, the dark energy is winning.

It's a simple problem of scales.

Well I guess if you believe in God, miracles, magic, alchemy, and fixed-stars like Newton did, then you also believe in gravity.

"...lest the systems of the fixed stars should, by their gravity, fall on each other, he [God] hath placed those systems at immense distances from one another." -- Isaac Newton

What dark energy and what gravity?

Are you using 16th century physics to explain 21st century observation?

I'm sure that if you read the following links, you'll find a more than adequate explanation:

No. I don't believe in the 17th century mathematical and religious concept of divine gravity. It's Newton and Einstein who used 17th century math [God's divine gravity] to describe pre-Space Age 20th century physics.

Sorry, OIM, do you have a point to make, or are you just randomly denying the existence of well-verified scientific principles?

Oh, wait, that's all you do here.

It's well verified that the stars are fixed as the so-called "theory" of gravity requires?

Fallacy. The theory of gravity doesn't require the stars to be fixed.

Believe it or not, our understanding of this science has progressed since Newton. See this paper.

I agree that Newton used fallacious "reasoning" when he imagined the so-called "theory" of gravity with its fixed stars and divine intervention.

"...lest the systems of the fixed stars should, by their gravity, fall on each other, he [God] hath placed those systems at immense distances from one another." -- Isaac Newton, Mathematical Principles, Book 3, General Scholium

If you're still using the concept of divine gravity then your thinking hasn't progressed since Newton.

    Now you are trolling, OIM.

The theory of gravity, even Newtonian gravity, does not require that the stars be "fixed". Your saying that it does is a fallacy, a straw man fallacy. The theory of gravity has progressed since Newton's time. That you ignore this is also a fallacy.

    Yes it does.

"...lest the systems of the fixed stars should, by their gravity, fall on each other, he [God] hath placed those systems at immense distances from one another." -- Isaac Newton, Mathematical Principles, Book 3, General Scholium

If there is no Newtonian God, how come the Earth and the sun don't crash into eachother?

    How so?

You're using a quote written by Newton to prove that gravity doesn't make sense. You're claiming that Newton fully understood gravity in the 17th century?

    Gravity is Newton's concept!!!

Anyone who uses the Newtonian concept of divine gravity doesn't understand the electromagnetic plasma universe we live in.

What does any of this have to do with gravity?

You don't know what Isaac Newton has to do with gravity?

Other than that he invented it...the theory has changed a lot since 1690.

Changed for the worse. You can't build a monument on a foundation of sewage.

Why doesn't the Earth crash into the Sun?

Tie a ball to the end of a string and spin it around your head. Why doesn't it crash into your face even though you're pulling it towards you with the string?
