    Dear members,

SciForums has been updated to 3.8.0. version.

If you notice any bugs or glitches, please let me know by posting here.

    Update: (From [Stryder)
Admin's been informed about a current Sign-up bug, where new users can't currently signup. There is no ETA on the fix, however it should be within the next day or two. Fixed!

I'll leave problems I found myself, for the easier fix:

    - Avatars, personal info and other profile details are not displayed when you check someone's profile.

Nice. I think the social groups have great potential.
Stryder mentioned something about photo albums, but I don't see that in the list at the URL you posted.

Isn't that because of Profile privacy ? Perhaps each user has to set it themselves.

Yes, each group can have photo album. Also, every member can have own photo albums and friends. There is subscription button for groups' discussions in case members want to be informed what's going on in certain thread.

I'm still learning about this feature. :yay:

    It's possible.

    problems with spaces.
    example:
if 'the'. one space after the f.
if 'the'. three spaces after the f.

there is no join date on my profile.
there is no average posts on my profile.
    my home page is missing.
    my additional info is missing.

It's referred to as whitespace stripping, since every space is actually a character. It's usually used in databases because extra white spaces are an un-necessary waste of storage space.

If you want to use white spaces for formatting purposes, use the CODE tags.

Excuse the gaudy colours, however the image linked shows what you'd see in your profile if you were running the full unedited templates (other than the colour coordination)

Basically all your info is housed in a tabbed format, which is why there are template conflicts currently.

Your homepage shows, you just have to look under the "Contact Info" tab for it.

    ah, okay.

one other thing would be nice.
on the main profile page should be a link to click on so you could veiw your profile as visitors and guests would see it.
maybe even for the various veiws of the drop down list boxes.

Okay well, You can use the User CP and access Profile Privacy, to edit how your page looks. You can define what is publically seen, or of course hidden.

    • Everyone means Guest's and people on Ignore lists can see that information
    • Registered Users means only those registered to the site (Not sure about the Ignore list)
    • Contacts are people you've added to the contacts list
    • Friends are people that have been marked as friends in the contacts list.

I'll do some testing however if you are likely to cause a bit of controversy on the site and have people want to leave you messages that are usually rude and semi-hidden, it's a good idea to stop Guests and perhaps even Registered users from posting "Visitor Messages", unless of course you are Mr Popular and check the page often.
