This is a really cool thread for me right now because I'm really heavily exploring psychedelic music/philosophy. I've had two experiences with mushrooms, the first time was a pretty significant exposure for me because I'd never even concieved that a waking physical state of mind could be so intense (as a proprieter of cliche, it just so happened that I ended up listening to Tool's 10,000 Days during the trip). The second experience was pretty much a slow burn without the crescendo (yawn). I'll probably try acid once or twice but I don't really have any ambition to venture too far beyond your basic diet of weed and mushrooms. I have done E a few times but that's only because I lack real judgement. Caravan - In the Land of Grey and Pink Jethro Tull - Song For Jeffery The Beatles - Within You Without You Pink Floyd - Several Species of Small Furry Animals... Wolf Parade - Kissing the Beehive (from an album called "At Mount Zoomer", you do the math!) The Aliens - Caravan (a total psychedelic freakout, very hypnotic song suites melting into one another) Iron & Wine - Wolves The Black Angels - You in Colour Panda Bear - Bros Animal Collective - Purple Bottle Ween - Zoloft Tool - Rosetta Stoned Sigur Ros - Ny Batteri Radiohead - In Limbo Plants and Animals - Mercy :m::m::m:
I don't indulge in narcotics, but I'd like to suggest Floating Flower. It's the ultimate tripping music, even without any herbs. http://www.acidmothers.com/cgi-bin/crew/B_floatingflower/index_main.html Here's a sample: http://piparmetra.net/ftp/ff.mp3
Music! Soundtribe Sector 9 is life changing stuff. If you can get any of their new years show at the Tabernacle its definitely worth a listen. Luma Daylight and Lo Swaga are my favorites but i really like Baraka as well. Its pretty hard to go wrong with their stuff. A Perfect circle 13th step is good front to back. The Nurse Who Love d Me and The Noose are epic. On a completely random note, Allanis Morisette-Uninvited does some serious things to me. The rise and fall of her voice in combo with the orchestra shatters my soul

I like Progressive House (John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Satoshi Tomeii) better. It's darker, a bit bouncier, has harder hitting beats and is a bit more sexual than trance is. Although I do love me some Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk and Christopher Lawrence trance too.
Although I like psytrance and other electronica for tripping music, I'm partial to post rock because I like to sit back and relax for a trip. Some of my favorite bands to listen to with links to youtube: - Godspeed You! Black Emperor - God is an Astronaut *current favorite - This Will Destroy You - Yndi Halda - Do Make Say Think
Here are a few recommendations for albums. BTW ---I'm picking albums because if your fried out of your gourd, you shouldn't bother spending any time fooling with the music player selecting individual songs. Just turn it on, and leave it alone. Go play some cards or drink beer or watch your hand morph into weird shapes or something...... Performer - Album: 1. Squarepusher - Music Is Rotted One Note 2. Ozric Tentacles - Absorbescence 3. Muslimgauze - Zealot 4. Butthole Surfers - Locust Abortion Technician 5. Coil - Gold is the Metal (with the broadest Shoulders) 6. The Mad Professor - The Evolution of Dub 7. The Melvins - Gluey Porch Treatments 8. Negativeland - Free 9. Steve Roach - Core 10. Plastikman - Consumed 11. Smegma - Pigs for Lepers 12. Monster Magnet - Superjudge (much tripper than Spine of God in my opinion) 13. Sleep - Sleep's Holy Mountain......volume one is also good 14. William S Burroughs - Dead City Radio
