I'm not sure. I guess MS can sue them.

Don't they have to prove it was indeed an overpayment first ?

If the severance contract they signed with Microsoft has the same amount on it then there's nothing Microsoft can do if they refuse to give it back. Except put them on a "do not hire" blacklist so they'll never work at Microsoft again in the future.

Pretty funny though, "we're sorry for any inconvenience" yeah being overpaid sure is inconvenient

Only if, like Enmos said, MS can prove they overpaid those employees.

Plus, if MS did try to take legal action, I bet all those former employees could band together and file a class action lawsuit.

Wow..if I were one of those employees...I would respond to that letter by sending them an entire case of "Kiss my ass".

i'm beginning to positively despise microsoft. seriously.
the way they force you to buy new computers to run their new OS's because the drivers won't work for one.
the way they engineer backdoors in their operating systems for another, this has even raised eyebrows at the FBI.
the way they track your computer use with the help of hidden files.
    and now this.

microsoft, you suck, you positively suck.

What I find amusing about it is MS said the problem was due to a software glitch!
