Wow, a lot of excellent information here! I'm going to need to print it all up just to help retain it all. I definitely knew that both selenium and folic acid were great for cancer prevention, but didn't have this much detail information on how, why, and some additional findings. It definitely makes you think twice about your diet as well. The difficulty with something like selenium, is that so much of the soil foods are grown in are now selenium deficient, so the only way to get enough is to take a supplement. And I've also read that folic acid can actually be better absorbed when taken as a supplement than when obtained through diet alone. Makes one think about the supplements they take as well. Makes me happy I take supplements regularly.

    Looks like bilge to me.

For example the prostate cancer reference is to an extract in hexane from guava leaves, nothing at all to do with eating the fruit.

And the way the article you link to is written makes it sound like promotional rubbish; for example the self-contradictory statement that : "the consumption of guava might guarantee [sic] that you are safe from a variety [sic] of cancer". It's actually interesting that the source, something calling itself "Wikihome nutrition", seems to be run by a bunch of four people, all of Asian appearance in spite of their names, none of whom has any scientific or medical qualification whatsoever.

I actually wonder if your message is spam, trying to generate traffic for this crap website. Im reporting you, just in case.

A good source of selenium is Brazil Nuts .

    also Turmeric with pepper .

my mother died from cancer .

the American Cancer Society , uses Turmeric with the spice pepper .

I do this this everyday . a teaspoon at least . ( I also put in a teaspoon of paprika , of both hot and mild paprika ) that's just my own thing .

By the by , I use only Organic Turmeric powder .

There was this man who only had a month to live at most told by his doctors, he was stage 4 cancer. He cut out any and all forms of sugar and all carbs because they convert to sugar and he is alive today cancer free. Of course, he has to keep this type of diet to stay in remission but its worth it.

What they dont tell you or simplify is that cancer cells feed on sugar. No sugar, they have no choice but to die. Simple as that.

But cancer fighting foods are raw or undercooked vegetables and low sugar fruits.

Also curry, hot pepper, green tea and raw garlic is potently cancer fighting.

I also knew this man who had cancer and he was told through the grapevine of this potent type of tea that kills cancer cells from china. He ordered it online somewhere but it did the trick and he became cancer free but i dont know how he is doing now as he had lung cancer and if he went back to smoking again. There are ways to fight cancer out there but you have to do research. Not all conventional wisdom or solutions are best. It depends on your situation just as chemo can kill people just as heal them. You have to use good judgement when certain measures are best applied. Some of the best solutions are not always the most well known. The pharmaceutical companies make money off illness too so they arent keen on others finding alternatives that may work better or even cure.

Try an asian or mediterranean themed diet as they put a lot of flavor with veges in their cuisine if you dont like health shakes or bland vegetables or salad.

Salad is really healthy. Just one salad a day with one of your meals will do a lot for your health.

Forget all this nonsense. You do not cure cancer with diet. You need to see a doctor, have surgery (if appropriate) and then the follow-up anti-cancer treatments, usually either chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Cancer cells need glucose of course, as do all cells, but Timojin is right: the body gets this from any carbohydrate. Cutting out sugar from your diet is not going to affect a cancer that you already have. It is dangerous nonsense to suggest otherwise.

Resorting to old wives' tale remedies for cancer is a recipe for death.

Good diet may help avoid getting some cancers in the first place, but that is a different thing.

You know the nonsense on this forum by posters who call others post nonsense is quite ironic. Diet is essential to fighting cancer:number one. Even doctors know that now. You have a very narrow view.

And no cutting out as much sugar as possible does affect cancer growth.

Follow your so called logic. It may sound logical but its as ignorant as any quackery people throw around accusatory around here. Pfft
