Well I like cultural heritage, but from a nationalistic POV I think it's irrelevant. It's not as though it's "our" land anyway. Problem is of course that no individual countries are going to agree that they don't own land as they'd lose out, it requires all countries or at least a group of them to agree amongst themselves that between them it can work. And so ends the communist manifesto.

Not from an angry perspective (from a Canadian), more of an exhausted one, and never toward me personally. I like to think that Canadians and Americans have an open enough dialogue that we can speak civilly, at least the more educated among us.

Indeed, and we're supposed to give it back in the same (or better) condition. These last few generations make rubbish borrowers.

A good share of Canadians can't stand Americans. A lot of them can't stand the French in Quebec either.

Well there might have been some serious root causes in the War of 1812, then our Militia(Canadians) beat the crap out of invading Americans, then burnt the ( then brown?)white house down with a raiding party. Not really sure if they remains pissed until...

WWI (WWII also relates in terms of U.S braggery about "winning" the war). Soldiers came back from the Front in 1918, really pissed about how the Americans were acting like they won the war by joining the last 8 months or so. Sure they pushed the conclusion to a shorter timetable, but Woodrow Wilson was just one of many architects to WWII.

Of course no one but historically minded people(or whom have talked to vets like me), really remember that, other than the yearly WWII movie that explains to the world how the U.S won every war and even some movies about wars they lost.

Today it is mostly about personal encounters or more likely anecdotes of encounters with U.S visitors or how badly they got treated on their trips to the states. Of course the nice Americans are not as well remembered nor do they make such a great story when a good ol' water cooler American bashing is going on. I get in on those of course, but then I just got to point out how nice it was to not have to develop and test nukes during the cold war and just sit and bitch about it and just save our money. Or maybe how nice it is to get these stupid inflated salaries because Americans are so mistaken what a deal it is to run business in Canada.

Currently my only problem with Americans(in general), as individuals is they really act like slaves to their company(I deal with americans often, while working for american companies or companies that sell to U.S. It's probably all tied to benefit dependency. But it REALLY annoys me when co-workers get worked up in that slave mentality, they actually lose efficiency and just kill morale. I worked for a company that actually drug tested the american side of employees AND ran credit checks/financial checks....PREFERING A CERTAIN LEVEL OF DEBT one manager confessed to me. I'm like you are fucking kidding me you WANT people in DEBT. "Yes they will work extra hours, etc." Yea that's what pisses me off about doing business/working with americans. Them and their effing "Action items".

    Or two.
I'm glad I understood you guys, I don't remember much french anymore, so it descends very quickly into "écoute et répète".

    Then you don't count, frenchie.

Why does the whole world think you're all arrogant, wine drinking, cheese eating surrender monkeys? As far as I can tell, apart from the surrender monkeys part, you're no worse than Britain or America.
And at least the french tend to have some hot women with nice accents.
