The problem is that one specific member of this community, (who took upon him-/herself to policy what can and can't be posted, and how people should and should not behave, and whose sole occupation is to start flame wars and after a couple of pages to call everyone immature and leave the thread, only to come back a couple of pages later to throw more wood in the fire, and report as he/she sees fit when the people who bother to humor him/her in his/her petty game actually get under his/her skin), has managed to get mods to actually listen and warn/ban to his/her whim.

I think that the mods would save a lot of time and trouble by banning this one person who doesn't even contribute anything but flame wars anyway, so the rest of us who don't give a darn can occupy ourselves with something else.

Do you think Copernicus should have knelt down in front of the church and apologized for his heresy?

I agree that James probably judged me to be in defiance of his warning, after all, I did tell him as a reply to his warming to tell the whiny you know whats who reported me to stick their complains up their you know whats. So I did deserve to get banned for that.

Heavily moderated forums always drive away the most interesting members and eventually become dull and disappear. And that is why 4chan ranks #1 in people magazine's most influential people list, while sciforums is the armpit who thinks it's the head.

There is absolutely no need to be sorry we got involved because we were interested in your thread and willingly decided to take part in it. Our bans had absolutely nothing to do with anything you had done and the use of the word cunt in whatever context we may have used it was of our own volition.

Well to tell you the truth Tiassa I don't really care what you thought of the situation or the use of the word.

 

A perfect example

—it's perfectly obvious to anyone who looks.

To the other, you do have a point. It's not what I thought of the word or the usage. Rather, it's what James thought that mattered in the end.

So cry and pout all you want. I'll be happy to remind my fellows on future occasions that this is a perfect example of why we should simply lock down these pointless bawlfest threads. Why should we give members genuine consideration if they don't really care what we have to say in response to the questions they ask us?
