But that's the thing, those concepts should be taught during school time. Time outside of school should be left for self-guided learning, hobbies, extra-curricular activities, play and rest.

Exactly. And the ones who are wasting the teachers time are also disrupting the class, wasting everyones time.

My son and daughter both know that I do not want to get any reports of mis-behavior. I also encourage the teachers to let me know if there is any because I want to support them.

Yup....When she was telling me about these kids disrupting her entire lesson, I stopped her and asked her if my son was any part of it. She said no he doesn't disrupt or disrespect her when she talks to him. I said good and turned to my son and said, " Well we both know what would happen if he was part of it" My son replied... "Yeah I would be in big trouble"
The teacher then said she wished more parent's had the same attitude.

She said my son is more of a slacker then disrespecting anyone. He spends his time daydreaming about the bell going so he can go BMX riding. LOL

I will take a slacker any day over a kid that has no respect. Personally I would be embarrassed if I had teachers calling me continuously telling me I had a brat who doesn't listen. I have never had a phone call like that in all the yrs they have been at school, so I think I am doing something right.

What you and I have done right is what the teacher wishes others would do, be the damn parent.

One of the first things I did with both my kids is make sure they took responsibility for themselves. Kids will try to pass blame on the teachers and we need to make sure they take responsibility for their actions or lack of action, like getting their homework done etc.

Too many want to be their friends instead of their parents.

By the way how old is the son you are referring too ? Could be girls on his mind, I know that really messed with me starting in 5th grade.

He is 13 but he is quite built for his age. He looks older because he is quite muscular. He seems to have built up a lot of muscle from BMX riding. It takes a lot of strength to do a lot of the tricks they do with the bikes. It's a good thing because now he is actually useful when it comes to shovelling the snow and doing some hard labor

As far as the girls are concerned he talks to a few on MSN constantly unless I throw him off there. It's funny because I bet face to face they don't talk nearly as much. The computer has made it easier to say things you wouldn't in person. Then you get face and face and you are like Uhhhh duhhhhh ahhhhhhhh yeah......

At that age I could barely concentrate on anything but girls. I basically got nothing from class some days.

BMW dirt bike riding and motocross riding are exceptional for fitness. People are suprised to find how intense motocross is for conditioning.

Soccer players, motorcross riders and elite boxers are the fittest athletes in the world.
