OK there seems to be so much debate on this plant.
should it be legal or criminal?
Is it good for you or bad?
does it lead to the use of hard drugs or does it help prevent the use of hard drugs?

and many more. but in this thread i would like to know your opinion and why you came up with this opinion.

From my personal experience, i think this is an amazing plant and it is wrong for governments to outlaw it,

I mean when i am doing any activity, i am way more focused and my attention to detail seems to be much higher after i have just smoked a Budd or two.

Also, i rather enjoy movies and video games more, they seem more entertaining.

If it wasn't for my odd joint, to relax and take it easy, id probally go have a few beers and act all stupid.

I had trouble sleeping for years, a small bowl an hour b4 bed and it usually makes me tiered enough to sleep.

If i have a headache or sore muscle, usually a joint will fix it up and it definitely relaxes the sore muscle, at least mine.

Sure there might be some hazard to smoking, increased cancer chance, etc, similar to tobacco but i mean but come on the odds of you smoking near as much weed on an average day as you would smoke a cigarettes? and also what don't doctors and scientists say causes cancer these days?

Oh and food tastes so much better after a bowl.

so lets hear it, what do you have to say about it, and why do you think it is good or bad. I was going to bring out some studies and links, but i figured id use them if needed later

I don't see a problem if used in moderation but really, it's a crutch, if you need it to make your life seem better then you have issues. If you have a real problem that it's helping out then that's the only reason I see using it long term.

AFAIK, nobody has ever proven a link between smoking marijuana and getting lung cancer (oral cancer I'm less sure about).

Emphysma and other ailments are a different story, though.

On the one hand, there are people who smoke a considerable amount of weed per day - enough to fill multiple standard-sized cigarettes.

On the other hand, not all smokers go through 2 packs a day, either. Which is another issue - many of those scare statistics about smoking tobacco assume you smoke an entire pack a day. Which was probably a reasonable assumption back in 1950 when they started researching this, and you could still smoke in your office, in restaurants, and damned near everyone did so all the time (and soldiers were issued a pack of cigarettes per day as part of their rations). The risks associated with lower usage (say, 5 cigarettes a day) are a different story, and most of the smokers I know fall somewhere in that range. Even the heavier ones essentially never get up to a pack a day except in certain special circumstances (i.e., ones that involve drinking for 18+ consecutive hours, say).

Illegal. Bad. Yes it leads to harder drugs. It's a bad investment. It makes you stink, stupid, dopey, lethargic and spacy. It is bad for your lungs, cells, teeth and breath. You often crave junk food afterwards. Your money is better spent on good stocks.
My opinion is from personal experience of watching pot heads, counseling them, prying them out of their crashed vehicles, helping them in the hospital, witnessing to them/getting them to church etc...

I like the idea of my friends smoking pot rather than banging Oxy Contin, so I'll go with GOOD.

Pot has been shown to cause impairment and bad judgment to a very high degree, pun intended, also it is a drug that leads to taking other drugs for wherever there is pot, there is also hard drugs nearby. Studies have shown that pot, when used for medical reasons, can help reduce pain in certain conditions. Pot also is being studied for its long term effects on the body and findings are showing that it does cause harmful things but more time is needed to be certain what those effects are and just how bad they become. Alcohol and tobacco were told that they were good for people when they were first being marketed to people and we all know the effects they both have on the body now.

It is up to each person to know the facts and weigh them and decide for themselves if they really think that pot is as good as many people seem to think it is. How old should one be in order to smoke it, 10, 12, 14? Who will control its potency? Who will own pot? Many questions and many problems with pot as I see it.

"We've shown that the marijuana gateway effect is not the best explanation for the link between marijuana use and the use of harder drugs," said Andrew Moral, associate director of RAND's Public Safety and Justice unit and lead author of the study. "An alternative, simpler and more compelling explanation accounts for the pattern of drug use you see in this country, without resort to any gateway effects. While the gateway theory has enjoyed popular acceptance, scientists have always had their doubts. Our study shows that these doubts are justified."

Smell is a personal opinion and to be honest weed smell doesn't really stick to you unless it is really damp outside, trust me i would have been busted so hard, if it did, growing up

"Similarly, healthy cannabis users showed no significant differences from healthy non-users in any of the cognitive domains"

    http://journals.cambridge.org/action/displayAbstract?fromPage=online&aid=6883340

as i stated, there maybe bad things with it medically but then again everything is if you don't consume it in moderation, but it is no worse then legal drugs today, Tobacco, alcohol, and unless you do not consume either of them and you openly state that both alcohol and tobacco should be made illegal and a criminal act, which both of them have a way worse history then :m: is kind of hypocritical, i mean how can someone accept two items and possible consume one or both and condemn the less of the three?

You crave a snack not necessarily junk food, personally when i get the munchies i enjoy a salad, and yes some times i will have a bowl of ice cream or bag of chips, but weed makes you enjoy food more, and you crave food in general not per say just junk food. again there is no harm in that, you're cravings can be fulfilled with a regular healthy meal.

point? Anything you do that is none essential, for leisure purposes would be better off spent on good stocks.

Again my personal experience, differs dramatically from your's and i am sure there are lot's more like me as there are more people out there like you.

Most car accidents involving weed, occurred while under the influence of alcohol as well , and if i smoke a joint people always say and feel safer with me because i pay much better attention to the road.

"There is no compelling evidence that marijuana contributes substantially to traffic accidents and fatalities. At some doses, marijuana affects perception and psychomotor performances- changes which could impair driving ability. However, in driving studies, marijuana produces little or no car-handling impairment- consistently less than produced by low moderate doses of alcohol and many legal medications. In contrast to alcohol, which tends to increase risky driving practices, marijuana tends to make subjects more cautious."

Oh, when i was a teenager i was an alter boy at my Sunday church, most times i was stoned on the alter.

oh very cool link, i am printing that.

But this just proves how far back in history this plant was consumed, and the benefits from it. I really don't understand why it is illegal.even if government can not control the substance people should be able to Grow personal smoke and have there own personal smoke, it can still be illegal for sale, and there can be age limits set on it like alcohol.
